The Clock Strikes Two

“Good Morning.” Colonel Mustard Seed walks into the kitchen in his jeans struggling to put on his button up shirt. He yawns “The sun’s not even up yet!” he barely was able to button up his pants.

“Good mourning!” purrs Miss Scarlet who immediately clings onto his arms dramatically as if she were the next victim holding tightly to her hero. “My, you’re stronger than the last time I felt your arms…”

“I started the force on playing football as part of the daily police work outs.” Colonel Mustard Seed explains while he gently pushes Miss Scarlet off his side. “So what do we have here?”

“Me!” an elderly woman walks through the kitchen. “Oh, Colonel, I lost my peacock! Can you help me find it? Please? Oh, what time is it, sonny?” she looks around at everyone and then at the floor. “Oh, my! Who would do such a thing like this?”

“That’s what we’re looking into, Ma’am.” Twilight Sparkle answers the older woman calmly. “But, we have nowhere to start yet. We need to organize and situate and list everything that happens to see if there’s a pattern.”

“I am sorry that I cannot be at your service, Ma’am… as you can see we have a case to continue solving…” the Colonel says apologetically.

“So far, Miss Scarlet is already pointing fingers rather quickly!” Rarity adds.

Rainbow Dash checks her watch. “It’s 1:07 in the morning, Ma’am.”

Pinkie Pie still stands over at the body wrapped in plastic. “We wouldn’t mind, if your captivating daughters don’t mind, us helping out with your investigations, Colonel.”

“You wouldn’t want to spend your vacation looking for…” Miss Scarlet pauses to find the right words. She couldn’t, so she changes her sentence direction completely. Turning towards the Colonel “You don’t need anyone interrupting or delaying your investigations… do you?”

Colonel Mustard Seed shrugs his shoulders to the crowd. “I guess we’ll just wait and ask what my daughters think and have to say about this.”

A walkie-talkie crackled and spoke something out loud. Miss Scarlet took hold of the lady’s arm. “Mrs. Peacock, I was just informed by the Inn’s second in charge, you should know her because you spoke to her thirty minutes ago? Yvette? She just walkied me saying that your peacock is back in your suite... One of your granddaughters borrowed your pet for her rehearsal because of the ballet performance coming up? And, Yvette is sending down her assistant to escort you back to your room.”

“What’s her name, deary?” the older woman asks.

“Her name is Cicely. You should know her too. She used to be the singing telegram girl.” Miss Scarlet assures Mrs. Peacock that she’ll be just fine.

Mrs. Peacock starts to tremble as she remembered to say something. “Just so you know, little darlings, it feels like I’m being watched. Beware of your surroundings… some person can just jump out at you around the corner.”

“I felt that earlier.” Fluttershy whispers.

“I felt it up close and personal.” Twilight says not going further into detail.

On cue, Cicely walks into the kitchen wearing her masquerade ball attire still. She takes Mrs. Peacock by the hand and winks at Twilight Sparkle. “I’m beat. I over worked myself.” Cicely says to her Mistress Scarlet. “After I help Mrs. Peacock back to her chambers, I am undressing and heading to bed, with permission of course. Have a good night everyone… the best you can, anyhow.”

“You are granted the permission. Pleasant slumbers.” Miss Scarlet waves the two away from the kitchen and turns back to the situation at hand noticing Twilights dropped jaw from shock. “Anything the matter, Miss Princess Twilight Sparkle? It looks like you’re startled by a realization of some sorts?”

“We don’t mind.” Justice says out loud saving Twilight from having to answer the question shot at her.

“We don’t mind, at all.” Dharma adds.

Colonol Mustard Seed looks at his daughters smiling. “When did you two girls get here?”

Justice smiles back “A few minutes ago, unnoticed.”

“Unnoticed ninja style!” Dharma says grinning.

“That’s my kind of style!” Pinkie bounced her way back to the circle from the body. She gets a double identical wink her way. “Hubba, hubba!”

“We did our research on this group of ladies, Dad.” Dharma says.

“Remarkable wonders they achieve on missions impossible, Father!” adds Justice.

Colonel Mustard Seed clears his throat. “Well, if my lovely daughters don’t mind, and they do seem to trust you already… I approve of this partnership.”

“The meeting during brunch, Colonel, should we mention that these ladies are helping out with the solving of these crimes? Or should we just let it happen without anyone knowing?” Miss Scarlet ponders. “I mean, do you think people will treat them differently or act weird around them if they knew?”

“We’ll talk about it just before you do your speech.” says the Colonel and yawns. He looks at the door way and a crew of guys with a stretcher come in to take the body. “I need to sleep a little bit more. There’s nothing more we can do at this hour anyhow.”

“Need me to tuck you in?” Miss Scarlet says trickling her fingers down the Colonel’s half bare chest.

“No, thanks.” Colonel Mustard Seed says courteously.

“You can’t blame a woman for trying.” Miss Scarlet says showing a ravishing smile that could change his mind.

“It really is so kind of you though. It’s the thought that matters.” the Colonel looks at his daughters. “You two have a long day ahead… you should sleep and rest, too. You don’t want to end up like your old man!” He points his thumbs to his chest.

Dharma and Justice both giggle. “We’re going to escort the ladies back to their floor, Father. And then, we’ll take a cat nap!”
