//-------------------------------------------------------// Wings Of Hope -by Dragonsong- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 Chapter 2 Twilight Sparkle and a few guards entered Ward 12 on that Saturday. A brown coated doctor greeted her and bowed down, “You majesty, we’re honoured that you’ve come,” He said humbly, “Star Shine has been so excited to see you. She even has your letter framed up on the wall. Allow me to show you the way.” Twilight, her guards and the Doctor trotted through a grey door, on the other side a small, light grey filly with a blue mane slowly opened her eyes. Twilight was surprised how she could sleep with a giant machine beeping to her subtle heartbeat all the time. Nonetheless, Twilight smiled and quietly trotted upto her, “Hello Star Shine,” She whispered, waiting for the young filly to fully wake up. Star Shine blinked a couple times in disbelief, then gave the biggest smile Twilight had ever seen; even bigger than Pinkie Pie’s. “Oh my goodness! Princess Twilight! You came! You really came!” She cheered quietly; Twilight could see that Star Shine was very weak. “Of course I came; you’re my biggest fan, so I’m your biggest fan,” Twilight replied, trying not to tear up. “So Star Shine, is there anything you want? I could give you any gift that you desire, and it will be my treat.” The filly thought for a moment, then shook her head, “All I ever wanted was to see you Twilight,” She whispered, “And I’ve now got that.” Twilight was about to reply, but Star Shine suddenly closed her eyes and her heart beat began to slow down. The doctors around Star Shine began to panic, getting all sorts of equipment out, “Someone check that her blood supply isn’t going low, and make sure she’s getting enough oxygen!” The doctor commanded everypony. Rushing around the room trying to get everything sorted. He quickly turned to Twilight, “Your majesty, thank you so much for coming. We’ll write to you if- I mean, when she wakes up.” He quickly said, but there wasn’t much hope in his eyes. Twilight nodded respectfully and turned around to go back home. Before she left, she turned her head to Star Shine, “I promise that I’ll make you better, even if it means reading every book in Equestria to find a cure.” She vowed, hoping with all her heart she’d be ok. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 “Nope! Nope! Nope!” Twilight growled in frustration, speed reading every book in Canterlot’s library. She vowed to Star Shine that she will try and find a cure for her, and that’s what she will do. All of her friends were helping Twilight look for the same book, but they didn’t have any luck either, “Sorry Twi’ ,” Rainbow Dash sighed, giving her wings a rest, “I just couldn’t find anything that had a cure for being paralysed.” But Twilight didn’t stop, she scanned through every book on the shelf and didn’t rest for a single second. She looked around and saw everypony hard at work; Rarity used her magic to check the books in the highest shelf, Fluttershy managed to get the mice to help her look, Applejack bucked the books off the shelf and hunted through everyone and Pinkie Pie was using all her hyper energy to find every book in the library. Twilight sighed, what if there was no cure? She fluttered down to the ground and tried to not think about the poor filly who she didn't know was alive or dead. Maybe she- “I’ve found something! Twilight! I've found something!” Pinkie Pie screeched, before being shushed by the librarian. Twilight and her friends rushed over to Pinkie Pie who was holding a dusty old book in her hooves. Twilight picked it up and scanned through the pages until she went to the last one, it didn’t say how to cure a paralyzed pony, but it did say something that could work just as well, but the price was incredibly high. Everypony read the page with Twilight and widened their eyes in shock, “Twilight, are you... Actually considering this!?” Rainbow Dash asked in surprise, Twilight gave a small nod and turned to her friends, “I know it’s a huge sacrifice, but it’s also a huge sacrifice I’m willing to make..” Her friends exchanged glances and nodded, “We’re all real proud of ya, Twi’, “Applejack admitted, taking a step forward, “You do whatever ya think is best.” One after the other, all of Twilight’s friends hugged her and wished her luck. But even though they all supported her, Celestia was harder to convince, but in the end got her to realise that Twilight needed to do it. “Your devotion is amazing,” Celestia said, “I know you’ll do the right thing in the end.” After the long conversation with Celestia, Twilight wrote to Star Shine; saying she wanted to see her again. Star Shine agreed, of course, and couldn't wait to see her Role-model again.. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Wings of Hope Chapter 1 It’s been almost a month since Twilight Sparkle became an Alicorn. While she does a lot of activities most princesses do, she still finds time to hang out with you friends. She was in her bedroom, creating a biography about her early life, when she received a strange letter from Spike. He walked upto Twilight and handed it to her, “Your Highness, you have a letter.” He explained while Twilight started to read; Dear Princess Twilight, My name is Star Shine and I am your biggest fan, I’ve always admired your beautiful wings and wish I had a pair of my own, but I’m just a plain Earth pony. I know you’re really busy being a princess and all, but it would mean so much to me if I could meet you face-to-face. I’ve never really seen anypony Face-to-face except my mother who only sees me about once a week and a few doctors because apparently I was born paralysed from the waist down, so I’ve been in a hospital all my life. I’ve seen the outside world through bits of media, but that’s it. I’m sorry if I’m annoying you with things about me, but if you think you can, will you please meet me and my doctors at Canterlot Hospital this Saturday at 2:00PM? If you do come, I’m in Ward 12 of the Fillies Section.’ Again, you don’t have to if you don’t want to. Lots of love, Star Shine Twilight gave a small smile, this poor filly had taken the time to send her a letter when she was in hospital. She turned to Spike and gave a brighter smile, “Spike, take a letter to send to Canterlot Hospital,” She instructed. Spike took out a blank page and a quill and looked up at Twilight for her too speak. “Dear Star Shine, her letter has melted my heart and I’d be more than happy to meet you. I absolutely can’t wait until Saturday and thank you for taking the time to send it to me. Lots of love, Princess Twilight Sparkle.” Spike nodded as he wrote down everything she said, when he had finished her sent it to Canterlot Hospital, watching it fly out the window. “Thank you Spike,” Twilight cheered happily, “Also, can you please send a letter to my friends saying I’d like to meet up with them on Sunday?” Spike nodded and took out another black page and began writing what Twilight had to say. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 (Final) //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 (Final) Chapter 4 “Did you want to see me, Princess Twilight?” Star Shine asked, looking up from her bed, smiling weakly. Twilight nodded and held her hoof, “Star Shine, what would you give to be able to fly, see the world and everything in it?” She asked her quietly. Star Shine was confused, but replied anyway, “Oh, anything in the world! I’d give my heart and soul for that!” She sighed, looking down in sadness. Twilight nodded and looked into her bright blue eyes, “Then, with your permission, I’d like to give you my wings,” She announced, “I found out how to do it, it’s little complicated but I think I’ll be able to do it.” Star Shine widened her eyes in surprise, taking heavy breaths, “A-Are you sue Princess Twilight? Wouldn’t that mean you.. wouldn’t be a princess anymore?” Twilight nodded and smiled, “I don’t care, if you had wings then you’d be able to see the outside world and live a long, beautiful life.” After saying that, she placed her horn on top of Star Shine’s head and concentrated on her magic. A bright white light exploded from her horn, which everypony had to shield their eyes from. When the light faded, everypony widened their eyes at Star Shine’s new body; beautiful wings her gently flapping from her shoulders. She looked at them and burst into to tears with happiness, “Thank you Twilight Sparkle! Thank you!” She cried, “You will always be a princess, and a hero, to me. Now I can be able to fly and get around more easily.” The doctors and Twilight then helped Star Shine lift into the air, Twilight’s magic made Star Shine limbs move very slightly; Not enough to walk or to pick things up, but enough to be able to protect herself if she banged into a wall. Twilight wiped away her tears of pride and joy, even though she gave up her Princesshood, she gave a different pony hope. When she got back home, she picked up a blank page and a quill and began to write, Dear Princess Celestia, Even though I studied hard to earn my Princesshood, I knew somepony else who wanted them more than me. I learned that giving is much better than getting and that everypony deserves a happy future. I hop you didn’t mind me giving up my wings, but I knew it was the right thing to do; and you taught me that the right choice is not always the easiest, but it’s the greatest. She got Spike to send it to Princess Celestia and looked at him, “I’m no longer a princess, now I’ll just plain old Unicorn Twilight Sparkle.” She said with no regret in her voice.
