The Carousel Boutique was silent, except for the ZzzzzZzzzzZ of Rarity’s sowing machine. She was making a dress for a very important client. She carefully stitched two pieces of fabric together, and attached several sapphires to the side. Sweetie Belle was upstairs coloring with the other two Cutie Mark Crusaders. Rarity was sweating; there was no way she could get this dress done in time! Suddenly, Twilight Sparkle walked in.
“Hi Rarity. How are you today?" she asked. She was being suspiciously welcoming...
"He- Hello Twilight. I'm sorry I can't talk right now. I have to get this dress done." Rarity said.
"Would you mind doing me an itsy-bitsy little favor?" she said with a big smile.
"Ugh. What is it now?" Rarity said, knowing that Twilight was going to want her to do something long and tedious for her.
"Well... I was working on a new spell and I was wondering if you could be my, err, guinea pig."
Rarity looked at the clock. "No, Twilight. I have to get this order done!"
"No no no. It's going to help you a lot!" Twilight assured her.
"Well, what does it do?"
"It will, in fact, increase your productivity by three times!"
Rarity looked at Twilight nervously. "Are you sure it'll work?"
"It can't hurt to try... right?"
"Okay... Are you entirely sure? I mean, really have to get this done."
"Oh you'll be fine!"
"Err, okay. Fire away."
Twilight Sparkle lit up her horn and pointed it at Rarity. Sparks flew and Rarity began to glow. She was lifted up into the air and exploded into light. Twilight stopped and dropped Rarity onto her face.
"Ahhh! My face!" she screamed as she got up.
"Oh, I'm so sorry Rarity." Twilight said.
"Did it work?"
"I'm not sure. Start sowing again and we'll see."
So Rarity continued on the dress, but she wasn't going any faster.
"Oh. That's a shame. I guess I'll have to keep working on it." Twilight said as she left.
"Hmm... That should have worked." she thought to herself. She stopped walking when she heard a horrible scream coming from behind her. She ran back inside Rarity's house. "Rarity!" she yelled.
She looked at her, confused and shocked. Rarity looked fine, except something was different... She was bigger! She was at least twice as big as normal.
"Ra- Rarity? Wha-" Twilight stuttered.
"What have you done to me?!" Rarity cried.
"Now now, err. Don't panic. I'll fix you. Now, umm, let's see. I'll try this."
Once again, she cast a spell on Rarity. She really hoped this would work. Once the spell was completed, she dropped Rarity down again. She didn't shrink again. Instead, she just grew again! She got bigger and bigger and bigger, until the Carousel Boutique exploded apart. But Rarity just kept getting bigger.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders screamed as they ran down what remained of the stairs.
"What happened to Rarity?" Sweetie Belle asked Twilight.
"I cast a spell on her to help her do her work, but it went wrong! And now she won't stop growing!"
Eventually, Rarity stopped. She screamed at the sight of herself. She was huge. At least five times her normal size. She crouched down towards Twilight.
"Twilight! Help me!" she cried.
"Umm... I don't know how."
"You have to help me!" she said.
The citizens of Ponyville were confused. They started panicking when they saw giant Rarity. "Ahhh!! A giant!" one of them screamed.
"It's a monster!" another one yelled.
"No no! I'm not a monster. It's me Rarity." she pleaded.
"You're not Rarity! Rarity isn't a giant!"
Twilight saw Rainbow Dash standing in the street; her mouth was open in awe.
"Rainbow Dash!" she said. "Fly up there and tell them that she's not a monster!"
"Oh no no no. No." she replied. "If there's one thing that my parents taught me, is to never trust a giant, no matter who they are."
"Your parents really said that?" Twilight said in disbelief.
"Well, it was something like that." Rainbow Dash said as she thought to herself.
"Well, it's Rarity. She's not evil."
"I'm not taking any chances. Come on ponies!" she yelled. "Let's show this monster what we've got!"
"Yeah!" they all yelled, and charged at Rarity and started attacking her ankles.
"Hey, get off me! It's just me!" Rarity yelled, but they didn't listen. So Rarity shook them off and galloped away crying. Twilight followed her, but had trouble keeping up.
“Rarity, wait!”
Rarity sat down on a hill and started sobbing. “I’ve become an outcast!” she cried.
“It’s okay, Rarity. You’ll be fine.” Twilight said, catching her breath.
Rarity lifted her up to her eye level. “No. No I won’t! I’m ruuuiiinnned!!!” she sobbed.
“I’m sorry Rarity. It’s just that, you were always so busy lately. You didn’t have any free time. I only wanted to help. I’m... sorry.” Twilight sighed.
“It’s okay Twilight. I’m fine . You just wanted to help. And you’re right. I was really busy lately.”
She put Twilight back down.
“But, what are we going to do?” Twilight asked.
“Just, just go. I want some time to myself.”
“Alright. Bye Rarity.” she said as she left. She felt really guilty for ruining Rarity’s life.

That night, Rarity curled up into a ball and laid down in a field.
“Well Rarity, you’ve managed to fall outside the socially acceptable ponies.” she said to herself.
She looked around her. “I guess this is my new life. I’d better get used to it.”
Meanwhile, back at the library, the other five ponies were having a discussion.
“We have to help Rarity somehow.” Twilight said.
“I don’t know. I still don’t trust that monster.” Rainbow Dash said. “My parents were really strict about this.”
“Rainbow Dash! You made her cry!” Twilight said angrily. “If anything, you’re the monster!”
“Umm, I’m still confused. What happened to her?” Fluttershy said.
They all looked at her funny. “Have you been listnin’ ta anythin’ we’ve been saying?” Applejack asked.
“No. Not really. I was distracted by Pinkie Pie’s funny glasses.” she laughed.
Pinkie pulled off her glasses. “Sorry.”
“Anyway... Does anypony have any ideas?” Twilight said.
“We could throw her a party?” Pinkie suggested.
“Err, no.”
“Let’s paint a picture for her!” Applejack said.
“No!”
“We could make her a giant present.” Fluttershy said.
“NO!!” Twilight yelled at her.
Fluttershy started crying and ran outside.
“Actually, that’s not a bad idea.” Twilight said. “What should we make for her?”

One week later, Rarity walked around the field where she slept. She sat down again and closed her eyes. “What happened to me?” she thought to herself. Her thoughts were interrupted by Rainbow Dash’s voice.
“Rarity?” she said.
“Rainbow Dash? What are you doing here?”
“I came to say sorry for running you out of town.” she said sadly.
Rarity frowned. “That’s okay Rainbow Dash. I’m ruined, there’s nothing you can do to help me.”
“I’m not here to help you. I’m here- We’re here to cheer you up.”
Rarity noticed the others coming towards her, pushing a large box with their hooves.
“Rarity, since my last shot at helping you didn’t work, we decided to give you something.”
Rarity picked up the large box and opened it. Inside was a giant dress, which looked similar to the one which she wore to the Grand Galloping Gala. “You- you made this? For me?” she started to cry again.
“Are those tears of sadness, or joy?” Pinkie whispered to Applejack.
“Thank you girls. It beautiful. How did you manage to make a dress this big?” Rarity said.
“Well, it wasn’t easy. We spent all week working on it.”
Rarity tried it on, and it looked great. She smiled. For the first time in a while.
“I’m glad you like it.” Fluttershy said.
Suddenly, Rarity started glowing. Her friends stared in wonder as to what was going to happen. Suddenly, she began to shrink. Smaller and smaller, until she returned to her normal size.
“Wait, what? What happened?” she asked as she crawled out of the giant dress, which was now much too big for her.
“Rarity! You’re back to your normal size!” Rainbow Dash said cheerfully.
“Hey. I am!” she said. “Yay!”
“See. All you needed was a little cheering up.” Twilight said.
“But now I’m too small to wear my dress.” she sighed.
