That's Not My Name

Hello there! The name’s Time Turner, Ponyville’s local horologist, or uh… clock repair-pony. I’m also known as “Dr. Time Turner” for my PhD in Equestrian Literature. Anyways, my life is generally pretty swell. Ponies are friendly; I get good business, and I put my PhD to use by teaching a few college classes! There’s just one tiny little problem.
Nopony calls me by my real name.
And when I say nopony, I mean nopony. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been called Time Turner. It’s gotten to the point where even my own family has stopped calling me by name. So, what is this name that everypony decided is my, well, name?
The “Doctor”.
Why? Who knows. I mean, technically I am a doctor but….. not really. I’m a doctor because I really like books. Yippee. Anyways, I’m really getting sick of this whole doctor business, so, starting today I’m hoping to change all of that.
For better or for worse.

NOTICE: I do not hate the idea of Doctor Whooves. This is just supposed to be a comedic take on the whole thing.

That's Not My Name

Prologue

It was a warm, beautiful summer afternoon in Ponyville. The marketplace was bustling with ponies, buying and selling goods. Fillies played in the park, families enjoyed picnics, couples relaxing peacefully in the sun. There wasn’t a single pony in all of Ponyville who could possibly be angry or grumpy at this moment. Well, except for maybe one. And that pony was more angry and grumpy, than anypony could ever be. This pony was Time Turner.

But why was this pony so angry? What could possibly make this stallion so incredibly mad on such a beautiful day? Was it that he stepped in something? Was somepony particularly rude to him? No, it wasn't that. In fact, to anypony else, his day would been the shining example of a perfect day. Everypony he walked by was friendly, it was free coffee and muffin day at Sugar Cube Corner; really to anypony else, this would be the perfect day. But something bad had happened. In fact, it had been happening for ten years, much to the annoyance of Time Turner. You see, he hasn't been called Time Turner in ten years.

Time Turner was always called "The Doctor". Ever since he moved to Ponyville, that's all anypony ever called him. He didn't know why, and he's pretty certain nopony in town actually knows why. He's just always been called The Doctor, and this bugged him. At first, he tried to correct ponies when they called him The Doctor, and though he still hasn't come to accept it at all, he no longer corrects ponies. And that's how it's been ever since he moved to Ponyville. But, tomorrow was Time Turner's thirtieth birthday, and he intended to change all that.
