The quill followed Twilight's exact words as she spoke them. "Together we are friends, with the marks of our destines made one, there is magic without end." Her quill jabbed into the page, giving it a final stop.

Lavender electricity crackled around the quills tip like lightning.

Twilight closed the book and levitated it off to the side off the room. Her horns aura began to fade off. But as it faded her element began to glow. It got brighter and brighter till it was bursting with magic. A bubble formed around it and burst outwards, coating her and her friends.

The bubble hit Rainbow Dash first. Her lightning element shone energetic red and shot a beam right at Twilight. And then, so did Pinkies in a playful blue. And then Rarity's joined them in a royal purple. Soon all the elements were aimed at Twilight, forming a white bubble around her with purple dashes streaking around her like a storm.

Twilight looked around to her friends, panicking. But, Twilight calmed herself. She closed her eyes, drooped her head and smiled.Twilight let the magic consume her.

With a huge explosion that rattled the library and blinded the other five.

The first to speak up was Fluttershy "Wha- What happened?" They all looked towards the centre of the room and screamed in horror. Twilight was gone and in her place was the charred remains of the library floor.

A white empty void greeted Twilight. She was floating in a sort of limbo. Twilight looked from left to right and all she saw where stars and void. She felt her hooves floating, but she could still stand.

She called out into the empty void, "H- Hello?" She got no response. "Where am I? What is this place?" She cried out again and still no reply came.

The purple mare span on the spot looking out into the foreign, lifeless void.

But suddenly, she felt a presence near her. A familiar presence that was comforting and warm.

"Hello, Twilight." Came the bittersweet tone of Celestia.

Twilight gasped, "Princess!" She tried to run through the foggy void, but couldn't get any closer.

Celestia's form became larger as she got closer "My faithful student..." He voice cracked. She floated through the nothing and landed just in front of Twilight on the non-existent floor.

Twilight could see her distress."Princess, what's wrong?" she asked shakily, "What did I do?"

Celestia just stood for a few moments, taking in her student, examining her. Suddenly, she pulled Twilight into a loving embrace, "I am so sorry, Twilight" She whispered into the purple mare's shoulder.

Twilight tried to pull away, but Celestia wouldn't let her go she was holding on too tightly and to be honest, Twilight didn't want to let go either. "Princess, where are we, what's wrong?" She asked as the Princess caressed her.

Celestia didn't let go, "You had come so far, Twilight."

Twilight tried to pull away again "Wait, Princ—"

Celestia sniffed and pulled Twilight out in front of her to look her in the eyes, "I was so proud of you."

Twilight slouched down, "Was?" The ethereal void around her began to melt away as she fixed herself completely on the princess. "What did I do, Princess? Did I fail? Did I mess up the spell?"

Celestia croaked a sad laugh and sniffed again, "No, Twilight, you were perfect. Just like always." Celestia brushed Twilight's hair from her face.

Twilight just couldn't understand, if she hadn't failed, then she had passed, right? "Then what's wrong?" She asked worriedly.

"I am afraid the fault is entirely mine..." Celestia took in a deep breath. "Twilight this was not meant to be how it ended."

"Princess?"

Celestia took a great breath and gritter her teeth, "Twilight, never doubt that I, or your friends or family love you."

"I never have..." Twilight was confused and scared "Princess, please! Just tell me! I promise I can handle it!"

"Twilight, your friendship was too powerful for Starswirl's spell."

"No..."

"This was never how it was supposed to go."

She pushed herself away from Celestia, "Princess, please! No!" She begged.

"Twilight—"

"No!" She refused.

"Twilight you-" Princess Celestia was cut off by her frantically yelling.

"No! No! NO!"

"Twilight, I am so very, very sorry"

"This is some sort of prank, right." She laughed nervously by herself.

"Oh, Twilight I wish it were."

"Yeah! It's funny!" She span around on the single spot, searching for a single soul, "HAHAHA!" she forced the laugh. "Rainbow Dash you can come out now! I know this was your idea!" She yelled nervously into her limbo, "And Rarity these stupid curtains are such a waste of fabric! DON'T YOU THINK?!" Her voice was the only one that came back to her.

"Rarity! Rainbow!" She yelled out into the void. "Fluttershy! Pinkie! Spike!" She caught her breath and listened to the silence call back. The princess tried to put a reassuring hoof on her, but she hit it off her and continued her painful search, "SHINY! MOM! DAD!"

"ANYPONY!"

Celestia bit her lower lip as she watched the filly she practically raised suffer the worst kind of fate. A complete loss of hope. "Twilight..." She tried to hold her student again, but she was too frenzied.

The purple mare span round desperately looking for an escape from the midnight void.

Twilight was hyperventilating frantically. "ANYPONY PLEASE!" she screamed desperately. But nobody could hear her and nobody ever would again.

Celestia waded through the void and landed with Twilight. "It's just you and me now, Twilight," she stopped her from her useless spinning and wrapped her in her wings.

Twilight kicked and screamed and punched and sobbed against Celestia, but she didn't let go. Finally, Twilight broke, "It's just not fair!" she sobbed into the Princess's snowy, white wing.

The princess was more than a little chocked up. "Shh, shh, I know, Twilight," Celestia cradled her like a tiny foal. She was so weak, so vulnerable and so helpless.

Twilight sniffed and just dug her head under Celestia's wing. She would be leaving her friends, her family, everybody. Applejack, Rainbow, Pinkie, she would never be able to hear them boast or laugh or sing ever again. And Pinkie, Rarity and Spike, she would never get to hear them cry or whimper of moan. At this stage she would just settle with hearing their sweet, familiar voices one last time.

But, all too soon, the Princess spoke up again, "Twilight..." She looked down at the filly she had seen grow into such a beautiful and talented mare

"Yes, Princess?" she sniffled up to her.

"It's time for you to go." She croaked painfully.

"No..." She dared glance at her body and saw a rust shade fall upon her.

"I'm so sorry, Twilight, If I could I would take your place in an instance."

"I'm not ready, Princess! Please!" Twilight begged her. She could feel the suck of the void draw her in.

"Twilight, you know there is nothing I can do for you, please, don't make this more painful than it has to be," Celestia loosened her grip on Twilight.

She felt herself begin to fade away, she could feel her body begin to turn to vapor and sprinkle into the midnight void. "What about my friends!?" Twilight tried to find a foothold to stop herself from fading out. To stop herself from fading into the void.

"Princess I don't want to! Please don't make me!" Twilight began to fade faster, like sand in a storm, "Princess! Make it stop! Please, just make it stop!" She felt it, she felt every memory, every feeling, every limb, every atom just fading into nothingness.

"I'll always love you, Twilight," Celestia sobbed, tears streaming down her once regal face, "Never forget that."

"Princess, I'm not ready!"

"Goodbye, Twilight Sparkle" The Princess cried for the last time and Twilight faded from her painful existence. "You have no idea how many ways you made me proud of you."
