Step 1. Evaluate yourself, if you are a pony of short patients, avoid at all cost.

Step 2. Never raise your voice above a talking volume, The subject is known to recoil at loud outbursts.

Step 3. Remember, patients, patients, patients.

Another week passed before Rainbows friends returned to Ponyville. It goes without saying that I was a bit nervous about meeting Rainbows friends for the first time. But Rainbow sat me down and set my mind at ease.

"You've got nothing to worry about Cain, their gonna love you. Don't forget, you made friends with Princess Celestia for ponies sake!"

That was true, the Princess and me had hit it off fairly well, so I guess that making friends with five ponies shouldn't be too hard.

Well, four ponies and a newly crowned princess.

Me and Rainbow walked up to the large tree that was the Golden Oaks Library, where we were to meet with all of Rainbows friends.
Rainbow opened the door and we were greeted by the warm light from within. The five ponies sat around a table drinking tea and chatting about their adventures.

They all took notice of our entrance, but before aneypony could say anything there was a flash of pink and before I knew what happened Rainbow was insnared in a tight hug from what looked like a pony shaped wad of pink bubble gum with a cotton candy mane.

Seriously, thats what she looked like.

"Dashi! I missed you soooooooooooo much!" The pink earth pony proclaimed as she squeezed Rainbow even tighter.

"Thanks, Pinky Pie, I, missed you too." Rainbow said, trying with some difficulty to breath.

The pink pony then looked to me with a wide eyed look.

"Who's your friend Dashi?" The pink pony asked. The whole room went silent for a moment as all eyes fell on me, but that one moment felt like hours.

Rainbow cleared her throat before pointing to me with a hoof.

"Pinky, girls, this is my very special some pony Cain. Cain these are my pff's." I raised my hand and gave my friendliest smile.

"Hi everypony, its nice to finally meet you all. Rainbows told me a lot about all of you." I didn't have time to feel awkward, in a flash I was wrapped up in a tight hug from the pink pony who had seconds ago insnared Rainbow in a similar embrace.

"Oh my gosh, thats so awesome! So you two are going out?! Im just so happy for you two!" Obviously she was excited, but more importantly her excitement seemed to spread to everypony in the room.

Rarity, at first, seemed to be a bit stuck up, and a bit snobbish, but I learned that she was really nice and possibly one the most generous ponies I had ever met, she even offered to make me some custom clothes saying "It would be a fun challenge."

Apple Jack shook my hand so hard I thought that she would break my arm, and was by far the most down to earth one of the group, and gave off a big sister kind of vibe, like you could talk to her about anything.

Pinky Pie seemed like she was overwhelmed with joy to just make friends with me. She was so pure hearted, she didn't question me or show any hesitation at being as friendly as possible, as if making friends with me just filled her with the greatest of joys. I almost started crying as I returned her second hug, and yes her mane did smell like cotton candy.

Then came Princess Twilight.

I bowed down low to the princess of magic, to which she humbly told me that it wasn't necessary. I quickly found that she wasn't only really nice and pretty, but that she also shared my love of books and I soon found myself in a deep conversation about the modern significance of Starswirl the bearded's views on 12th century magic in the arts.

"Great just what we need, another egg head to dork up the party." Rainbow said sacrasticly.

I could tell that me and the princess would become good friends.

Almost last, but certainly not least came Spike. Like myself, he was of a different species living among ponies. We just kind of got each other without saying a whole lot. He was a bro, in every sense of the word.

Yep, everypony seemed to get along with me and I with them pretty well.

Everypony, except one.

In a shy and quivery voice she told me her name was Fluttershy.

"Its nice to finally meet you Fluttershy, Rainbows told me a lot about you." I extended my hand to give her a formal greeting, but to this she flinched a little and backed up a few steps.

She seemed to hide behind her bangs, not even looking at me. My heart dropped into my stomach.

She was afraid of me.

As the evening rolled on and we all continued to chat and enjoy each others company, the yellow pegasus stayed, for the most part, off to the side.

I tried a few more times to strike up a conversation with Fluttershy, but every time I did she would only reply with a quiet "yes" or "no".

Did I do something wrong? Was she really that scared of me?

She was one of Rainbows closest friends, of course I wanted her and me to at least be on friendly terms.

The evening wrapped up as everypony went home.

Rainbow gave me a hug and a kiss before she flew off back to her cloud home.

I saw Fluttershy walking off into the dark of the night and couldn't help but feel the need to see her safely back to her house, so I approached her.

"Excuse me, Miss Fluttershy?" The yellow pony stopped dead in her tracks and froze up like a statue before she turned to look at me with a timid expression.

"I know we just met, but it is kinda dark out tonight, and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind me walking you home?" Even in the dark of the night I could see her cheeks turn two shades of red.

"Oh, t-thats ok, I know the way." She stated in a small voice. I couldn't let such a young frail pony walk off down the dark streets by herself, so I pressed on.

"Its really no problem, Im sure that Rainbow would be-"

"I said no!" Fluttershy yelled before galloping off into the night.

I stood there with my mouth open and my heart in peaces inside my chest.

She, hates me. I thought to myself as I slumped my way back home.

The next day was one of my days off from my new job at Sugarcube Corner. Rainbow came over to hang out at around eleven.

I opened the door to see the happy smiling face of the pony I loved, but what she saw was a sad grey version of the human she called her boyfriend.

"Whats wrong Cain? You look like somepony ran over your pet tortis." We both sat down on the couch, but I really didn't want to tell her that one of her friends probably hated my guts more than that old troll of a mare did.

"Its nothing, Im fine, really."

It goes without saying that she didn't buy it.

"Don't lie to me Cain, I can see it all over your face. Tell me whats wrong." She placed a hoof on my knee and I looked into her eyes. Suddenly I couldn't not tell her everything.

"I offered to walk Fluttershy home last night, she yelled "no" and ran off like I had the pony pox." Rainbows worried look soon changed to one of understanding.

"Ooooooh, is that all?"

Dose there need to be more?

"Rainbow, she hates me, how can you be so casual about this?" Rainbow chocked back a laugh before resting her head on my shoulder, and with doing so, washed away some of my worries.

"Cain calm down. Fluttershy does't hate you, she just has a hard time meeting new ponies, or people in your case. Just be patient with her and you'll see."

I guess she had a point.

"Really?" I asked.

"Really." Rainbow said as she swooned into me more.

We spent the rest of the afternoon lazing on the couch. Rainbow went on to tell me a few stories about Fluttershy in the hopes that it might help me to better understand the pony who I wanted to make friends with.

After we had dinner Rainbow broke the news to me that next week she and her friends would be going to the Crystal Empire with Princess Twilight for a few days. Something about a princess summit or something.

I instantly felt like my whole world was going to fall apart at the news of Rainbow leaving me for even a signal day, let alone three. She would never admit it but I could tell that she was feeling the same way to.

The next morning I got up early and quietly left Rainbow sleeping in bed. Before I departed, I covered her with a blanket and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

The early morning sunlight shone through the streets of Ponyville as ponies woke up and went about there days. I could hear the sound of a steam whistle coming from the train station, and it looked like it was going to be another great day.

As I approached the market a thought came to me that maybe latter I would go over to Fluttershys place and give the whole making friends thing a second try.

As if on cue, a butter yellow pegasus pony came into view, but what cought my eye more was the enormous, grey, three hundred pounds of muscle called Iron Will.

Rainbow had told me about him last night and the instance of when Fluttershy had attended one of his seminars and refused to pay the big gahlute. But why was he here? And why was he talking to Fluttershy?

Unless.

That big jerk, he must be trying to force Fluttershy to pay him what he thinks she owes him.

Well not on my watch he isn't. I thought to myself as I approached the two.

Just then who in the world should come zipping up to me on her scooter but (of course) Scootaloo. She must have gotten up early to get a jump start on her crusading.

"Hay Cain, whatcha up to?" The filly asked as she followed next to me.

"Hay Scoots, about to pick a fight with a minotaur. While I have you, could you go find Daisy Joe and ask her for a glass of milk?"

To this the filly looked at me with confusion.

"Whats it for?" she asked.

"It will keep my teeth alive while I'm being taken to the hospital." I stated mater of factly.

"Uwww, ok then. Do you want one or two percent milk?" She asked.

"Mmmmmm, today feels like a two, so, two percent please." The filly gave me a salute and zipped off to complete her task.

Also, how in the world can Daisy Joe produce two different types of milk?

I got closer to the hulking minotaur before I made my move.

Oh Celestia, I hope I don't die.

"Hay chumbo!" I called out.

Iron will turned and looked at me with confusion.

"Uhhh, dose Iron Will know you?" The dumbfounded minotaur asked.

"No, but I know you, goat boy." Iron Will looked like I had just insulted his mother.

He bent over and got right in my face.

"Iron Will thinks that you have him confused for somepony else friend." He stated in a threatening tone.

Without thinking I reached up and grabbed hold of the Iron ring in his nose and pulled his face close to mine. He yelped in pain as I jerked the metal ring.

"No, your the one who's confused, Im not your friend, pal. You see, Mr. Will, that pony you're talking to is my friend." I felt an adrenaline rush as I held the minotaur in my control.

"You think you can just bully somepony because you think they can't do anything about it? HUH?!" I yelled as I gave the metal ring another tug, causing him to snort and wimper in pain.

Fluttershy peaked her head from around the large grey obstruction.

"Umm, Cain?" She asked.

"Don't worry Fluttershy, I got this. He's not going to bother you anymore." I felt powerful in this situation.

"Your not going to bother her anymore, are you, Willey?" I asked as I gave the ring another jerk.

"Cain!" Fluttershy said at over a talking volume.

I looked around Iron Will to see Fluttershy who wore a very serious look.

"Whats up Fluttershy? Im kinda busy at the moment."

"Iron Will wasn't bulling, or bothering me." I cocked an eyebrow.

"He wasn't?" Fluttershy shook her head.

"No he wasn't, he was asking if I would groom his cat next week."

You know that feeling when you realize that you made a big (and I do mean BIG) mistake?

I released the iron ring from my grasp

"Oh, uhhh, sorry about that, Mr. Will, were cool…right?"

WHAM!

Do you also know that feeling when that BIG mistake hals off and punches you in the face with the force of a train?

It hurts.

I woke up several hours latter. I took from the celling that I was back home. I wondered for a moment if it was all a dream but was soon corrected when I felt the pain that would probably stay with me for at least a week.

Fortunately I was resting on the best pillow ever.

Rainbows lap.

"Your awake huh? You big dummy." Rainbow looked down at me as she began to giggle.

"Ya, ha ha, I already feel like a complete idiot." I said turning my head in her lap to hide my shame.

"Well you are an idiot, but your my idiot. And it was pretty cool the way you tried to stand up for Fluttershy."

I looked back up at Rainbow and gave her a smile.

"What happened to Fluttershy?"

"Oh, well, I stopped Scootaloo while she was on her way to get milk, for some reason. She said that you were picking a fight with a minotaur and I put two and two together."

My face suddenly felt red.

"Did you see?" I asked.

Rainbow gave an amused smile.

"When I found you, you were laying flat unconscious. Fluttershy was shaking you and crying out your name and apologizing for how she had acted. I haven't seen her that upset in years."

Wow, I guess that she does't hate me.

"Well I had something planned for tonight but you don't look so good. Why don't you go back to sleep and Ill give it to you in the morning?"

I closed my eyes and turned sideways in Rainbows lap. She smelled so good.

"Good night Rainbow."

"Good night, my idiot."

Well, in all, I made friends with a shy pony, stood up to a buff minotaur, got knocked out in one punch, and I got to use Rainbows lap as a pillow.

All was right in the world.

The next morning I slowly opened my eyes and saw something blue and hovering above me.

My vision cleared, and what I saw was Rainbow. She was hovering a few feet above me, she had her mane pulled back into a pony tail and she wore a pink apron with white frills.

"Good morning, d-dear. Do ya like the apron? Rarity made it, she said that you'd like it."

I had no words.

The rest of the morning was spent in a hot, sweaty, lovefest.

Yep, all was right in the world.

And so the human went about his day, confident that he was the master of his own path, and that only sunshine and rainbows lay before him.
But little did he know that from the darkness and shadows, cold, hungry eyes, looked him over with sinister plans.
And a dark agenda, that would lead to the fall of all Equestria.
