It's what my cutie mark is telling me
Prologue. Special Delivery
Twilight shivered as she stood before her study pedestal. The night was cold and nippy even inside and not even the candles about her house did much to keep it out. She figured she would need to warm up a bit in order to concentrate on her study. She simply closed her eyes as her horn glowed and imagined a nice hot campfire, sure enough her body temperature quickly rose. When she was satisfied her horn stopped glowing and she continued feeling comfortably warm. It didn't often cross Twilight's mind how many advantages being a unicorn had, but it did at that moment.
She looked behind her at the display case of the Elements of Harmony, they looked as they always did, beautiful and majestic. She sometimes liked to just stare at them while she tried to think. Twilight had been waiting for Spike to finish his bubble bath so he could do his evening tidy up. She would not be able to sleep comfortably if things weren't in the right place. She had guessed the dragon had been in there for six or seven hours now.
"Urgh! Spike, you will get all pruney, hurry up". She muttered to herself. But more then anything she was tired. She turned toward the stairs to go and ask him to get out of the bath, when she heard a knock at the door.
"A Visitor, At this hour?" she moaned and she put her hoof to her face in frustration. She trotted up to the entrance and opened it, getting ready to scold the pony if they didn't have a good reason for bothering her. It was a grey staillion with a white mane that was dressed in a formal delivery pony outfit, Dark blue with gold buttons. This suggested he was from Canterlot.
"Twilight Sparkle?" He questioned.
"Yes, that's me" She replied.
"I have a delivery for you from the Princess, just sign here please" He monotoned.
"Oh, something from the princess?" Twilight smiled and her excitement snapped her eyes wide open, her tiredness fading. She used her magic the levitate the package inside and eagerly signed the clipboard.
When she closed the door, she immediately opened the package like a little filly opening a birthday present. Inside she found a letter, typically like the ones Princess Celestia would send through Spike. But the ancient important looking book would have been too large to use the dragon's magical flame to transport, not without risking burn damage. She started reading the letter while she hovered the book nearby.
"Dear Twilight Sparkle,
The spell contained on the last page of this book, is Starswirl the Bearded's unfinished masterpiece"
Twilight gasped in surprise and looked with curious intrigue at the book.
"Oooooo" She happily cooed and continued reading.
"He was never able to get it right and thus abandoned it. I believe you are the only pony who can understand and rewrite it.
- Princess Celestia"
Twilight's excitement gave her a new burst of energy as she begun to flick through the book quickly. Particularly eager to get to the end where the spell was, she read it without a second thought.
"From one to another, another to one, a mark of ones destiny singled out alone fulfilled". She paused for a moment confused.
"That doesn't make any sense. it doesn't even rhyme" She said to herself. She stood there for a few moments more trying to figure out of she felt different or if anything looked different. As she tried to think about the riddle it made her head hurt and she yawned. She trotted of to her room figuring she would sleep on it and come back to it in the morning refreshed.
Twilight Sparkle awoke the next day in a great mood and started humming as she opened the window to take a look outside at her favourite place in the whole world, Ponyville. All of a sudden she felt the compulsion to start singing. After all that her and her friends had been through Ponyville was the most peaceful it had ever been
