"And that's how you break a an indestructible vase." Helius laughed."You caught on quick. Then again, you've been breaking things tougher than that as soon as you could lift your hooves."
The filly laughed with him, but it was obvious his heart wasn't in it. "Dad? Can I ask you something?"
"Anything"
The filly turned his head up to his father, his fluff of mane, purple and silver, flashed in the light. "Where's mom?"
Helius responded slowly, "You don't have one, never did."
"But EVERYONE has a mom! Rarity has a mom; Twilight has a mom." Shyly he added, "Can't you tell me where I came from?"
Helius froze as soon as he heard her name, his memories all came flying back at him, as he felt again how much it had hurt to leave.

"The baby's coming! Oh I can feel it! Somebody get a doctor!"
"I'm a doctor."called a mare stepping out of the telephone booth parked in the lounge. "I will sonic her out immediately."
"WHAT!!!" Twilight's mother screamed and her horn glowed. A frying pan meandered into the room and floated in front of her.
"My brother is a bit thick, but he means you no harm," Helius reassured, while giving his brother a noogie. "Sonicing will not be necessary. Assuming the baby is fully developed, it should just take a modified teleportation spell."
In a matter of seconds, a baby appeared in her mother's arms, wrapped in purple cloth. "What should we name her dear?" Her father asked.
"According to Mother's Heart Parenting Guide, You should always name a filly with the traits you want them to retain as an adult."
"That's ridiculous. The world isn't like an episode of Para-smurfs."the father responded.
"Wanna bet? You heard about the town drunks? They've just adopted. Named their baby Fluttershy. I give you five to one odds she turns shy. Or the Do family. They just named their daughter Ditsy, but it's clearly cover-up. I heard that the neighbors hear that whole family calls her Derpy, not even behind her back! Isn't that insensitive. But I guarantee she’ll be derpish. VERY derpish. Oooh, dont get me started about the--"
"I get it, so what trait do you want her to have?"
"I want her to be an egghead just like you! I'm gonna name her after my favorite book, Twilight!"
"The one where Vamponies sparkle?"
"Oooh Sparkle, I LOOOVE IT! She will be known as Twilight Sparkle!"
Afterwards they threw a party for them and their closest friends, making the guest roster consist of the grandponies, Helius, and The Doctor "If you ever need a babysitter," Helius started, "Now that you have two kids, let me know.
"But aren't you constantly working? Keeping evil spirits at bay and such?"
He nodded at the mother. "Glad to see you remember what I do for a living, but there is little unrest in Equestria, your child will be born into an era of harmony"
"I'll definitely hold you up to that offer someday"
That someday came a couple years later, It was clear that he and Twilight bonded rapidly over their month together. Little Twilight Sparkle had already learned to spell words like "executive, inductees, and decibel" and memorized every book she read. "Healy?" She asked, "Why does mommy love those stinky vampony books? She's read the Twilight series ten times and it has no analytical value?"
"Your mom's, uh, set in her ways, but just because one vampony book is stupid, doesn't mean the rest are. Have you read Vampony Academy? Best book ever!"
"No I haven't" she lied. She had, but she didn't like it. The main character, Pinkaway Hathaway, was too reckless, and never read any books, and all the magic in the story had been done by her friend. But she loved the way Helius told stories. "How does it go?"
"Ok, Pinkaway Hathaway and Flutterissa DragomirShy were best friends, but they run away from Vampony Academy because Flutterissa's super secret super powers makes her cranky when she uses them. So they're running away when BAM! Guardy-friends surround them. And you know why? Because they have long names!!! Then Edpony Cullponins says to Pinkaway "I want to suck your blood because because I can't read your mind.""
Twilight giggles "wrong story silly."
"Was it? Oh, now I remember, the Guardy-friends catch them and drag them back to the academy where Pinkaway learns to protect her friend and use her Pinkie sense to see when she's in trouble. The End!"
She giggles again. "I liked that story."
"Well l should probably be leaving, but wanna see a magic trick first?"
"You know I do."
"It's your turn this time."
"What? But I can't do any magic."
"You can now, my magic will make it so everything you imagine in the next fifteen seconds appears. Ready? Set? Go!"
They flew around on a giant book, ate ice cream until their tummies ached, gave the faces of Mt. Gallopmore hot pink afros and imagined how Twilight would look iif she became a sorceress, with a pretty dress and a star-shaped crown on her head.
"I can't wait to see you again!" She told him, and he couldn't wait to babysit her again, but he wasn’t prepared for what happened next.
“WHAT IS THIS!!!” Twilight’s temperamental mother shoved a piece of paper in Helius’s face.
"I've decided to start a school to train filly unicorns to use the full extent of their powers. Twilight loves magic and wants to be a magician when she grows up so I've created this opportunity for her. She and other talented unicorns will learn to use their magic to protect their loved ones from monsters and learn self defense for every day use. This idea could save Equestria permanently."
"YOU WANT TO PUT FILLIES IN GREAT DANGER JUST SO THEY CAN DO YOUR JOB FOR YOU!!! My Twilight doesn't know what she wants, but it's clear she has a bad influence. This academy of yours is a death wish, and my Twilight will have NOTHING to do with it. Do I make myself clear?" As she yells, her pupils dilate into glowing slits.
"But.. this would keep her always safe, she'd protect herself and her country and be the magician she's dreamed of becoming. She'd be my heir and learn everything I know. Trust me, over one-hundred and eight years I've learned a lot. It's good for her and she'll love it.won't you reconsider?"
"I DIDN'T MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!!!" Her mouth was open so wide Helius could've stuck his entire head in it. Or a bowling ball. Or a chair. "You monster hunters are always the same, befriending my children, encouraging violence to pit them against me. You wouldn't imagine how hard it was to kill the last one. Then to dispose of its body! Messy MESSY! work it was, especially when Shining Armor walked in on it! If not for my memory charms, I don't know where I'd be right now; clearly not blabbering to you." She peered into his eyes forcing contact and in an unponily soft whisper spoke, "You won't remember any of this." And he hadn't, not until this flashback

As if noticing this, the pony stopped speaking mid-splurge and stared deeper into him "delving too far into your past isn't good for you. WAKE UP!!!"

"Are you ok?" His child stood over him. "You looked like you were fighting a monster, only without the explosions or walls of fire or glowing energy balls... and you looked like you were losing."
"My PonyLand! She was a monster."
"Are you ok?" His sincerity forced a smile on his father's face.
"Light SparkStorm, It's time. Time for me to tell you where you came from."
