Revenge of the Swarms
Chapter 1: The Seeds of Revenge
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAlthough it did take many days, and she lost a good portion of her blood, Chrysalis, stood up and inhaled the foggy Everfree air deep into her scarred lungs. Even though her pain had subsided, she knew many of her underlings were still in painful agony. She decided to go on a walk to find her damaged swarmlings. After walking a couple of miles she discovered a changeling, It was somehow still alive despite having a completely collapsed rib cage, blood flowed slowly from the maw of the changeling. This is going to be a long day, one I will remember as I strike down my enemies; I will remember to not end them but wound them terminally so they will know what pain is like I have felt. The Changeling Queen thought to herself. With that thought, she approached the changeling, "I am sorry for this my child," she said as she looked into the eyes of her dying underling, and she stomped on its neck killing it instantly. May you live in Pain no longer. Another psionic pulse struck her like a ton of bricks and she fell to the ground. Whatever is causing this is getting closer... but seeing as the pulses are getting stronger I think the source is testing me. She responded with a psionic message of similar magnitude.
After a few more days she had found every changeling in the Everfree. Her numbers were pitifully low. "I started with 176,534 changelings; and now after many days of searching I have discovered that only roughly 50,000 remain alive." The entire time she was looking for her underlings, she had been matching the replies from the source of the psionic disturbances. But she knew the source was close... as an explosion of pain rang through her skull she made out a voice, but it was in her head. Come to the moon of the second planet in your system and we shall meet.
It didn't take much to break out of her prison cell, and after a few psionic lashes, she left hundreds of guards with their entrails exploded onto nearby walls. While planning her escape, she had started playing a game with her ally-to-be, one of them would pulse the other with a psionic blip and then the other would match it only a tiny bit stronger. The most recent one almost got her killed as she almost had her head shot off by a marauder's concussive grenade. Once she got past some guards it was easy going to the astro-metrics lab. The scientists didn't even fear her even after she spread some of their colleagues on the back wall like paint; she wasn't the same without her Zerg enhancements.
After of a couple of days digging through the astronomical archives she was able to triangulate the position of her ally. She sent a message tho the creature on the inhabited planet, along with the next level of the game. Come to the moon of the second planet in your system and we shall meet.
After leaving several amateur mages to die, their magical sparks drained; Chrysalis learned the blink spell. She began to channel her changeling magic into her horn. She unleashed and a pain greater than the psionic messages hit her. "Well I don't think that worked."
"I would disagree." When her vision finally returned she looked into the eyes of the former queen of blades and the human smiled at her...
