Prologue I: String universe
"... Wouldn't it be amazing that, outside our world, there would be other worlds with very different creatures from us?" Lyra said while rising her hooves up in the air, trying to reach the roof above her, "i mean like... ponies that walk around in two hooves with some kind of claws on their remaining hooves useful to catch things", next to her, trying to pay attention to the random and kind of absurd speech of her lover, was Bon-Bon, caressing Lyra's chest with her hooves,
"... Honey, you are being random again", Bon-Bon said, her mind was duing a tremendous effort to understand the strange and rather ridiculous speech of the light green mare, but she was just too tired to just use her brain to analyze this misterious speech about parallel universes, it had been a long day and she was tired, although she was happy that she could share, in this confortable way, a bed with her lover, the beautiful unicorn that was lying next to her, trying to embrace the universe with her curious mind.
"But just think of it!", Lyra looked down at Bon-Bon, her eyes had a really beautiful sparkle on them, familiar in a way, she had seen that kind of shine in somone else's eyes before, "All the worlds that can be out there... floating around us, like balloons or like butterflies", her tone was more and more filled with passion, Lyra is a really passionate mare when it comes to the misteries of the universe, allthough she doesn't have too much discipline in the field of reading, she is a quite curious mare that loves to understand the world around her.
It was something she learned from her dad, a misterious stallion with revolutionary ideas about the true nature of the universe, discredited because of his affairs with a teenage mare, something that he never regretted, oh not at all, specially when that affair gave him such a wonderful daugther that, in her own particular way, would share his peculiar vision of reality, a vision that i happen to find quite interesting too, despite of the lack of magic in it, something that, in the opinion of the intelectual elite of Equestria, esi not very acceptable.
But were was i?, right, Bon-Bon looked at lover once more, for a second, her passion turned to bitterness, it felt like, deep inside her, she wanted to actually scape, to run away from this reality and fight her way inside a new one, inside a more... pleasant one, the insatisfaction of her lover made a slight wound in her sugar covered heart, letting some bitterness to come out, heading up her veins to her brain, and scaping through her mouth, "Aren't you happy with this world?..."
"...What?", she was still too distracted traveling back and forth through her memories to properly respond to her lover, "...Lyra"
"Yes sweety?", Lyra finally came back to reality, she didn't actually realize that her lover was a little bit wounded by her desires of findinf other realities and dimensions, she was lost in her fantasy, and her delirium was shown, in a way, her true colors, exposing a slight insatisfaction with her current life, maybe it was not related to Bon-Bon, maybe it was just the memory of her father, struggling to be accepted in the intelectual community of Equestria, and going back, rejected and heartbroken to his home, slipping away through her speech, but for Bon-Bon, it was a sign of unhappiness.
there was a long unconfortable silence, Lyra was very confused about strange and abrupt change of mood, and Bon-Bon was not sure of how to face her lover and ask her for answers, they stayed like that for what endless seconds, feeling the moving of their bodies trough time like swimming in an ocean of gak, and then, gathering all the courage she could find deep inside her, Bon-Bon asked that kind of question you don't what to hear from your current couple, "... Are you happy with me?", another pause, "...With our life together?... are you happy... AT ALL...?", there was another long unconfortable silence, Lyra was not sure how to answer her, she could tell her that she was, indeed, happy, and that her speech about better worlds was just her past talking through herld end up being too sarcastic, or too melodramatic, so she had to choose her words carefully to not wound her lover even more,
"... Well, i am most of the time... but sometimes the past comes from the back of my head and messes up with my mood...", there was another silence but this time it was a short moment of silence, "... What do you mean by that?", Lyra looked away with a bit of sadness in her eyes "I remembered the time when my dad tried to be a teacher of science at the Trottingham university...",
"What happened?", Bon-Bon looked up, she didn't know the story of Lyra's parents, she usually dodged the subject well enoght to not bring up any suspicions about her relationship with them, but she rarely talked about them, "... Well, he had weird ideas about the universe, also he wasn´t a unicorn, so he wasn't hired, at that time only unicorns were accpeted in the most prestigious circles of knowledge", Lyra made a pause and looked down at her lover, "Things have changed a lot but he wasn't alive to see it...",
"... Did he died?",
"Yeah...",
"How?...",
"A broken heart", the bitterness in her tone killed the conversation, Bon-Bon wanted to ask more about him, but she felt guilty for doubting about her lover's feelings towards her and her life together, so she simply cuddled and closed her eyes, she felt a tear hitting her mane but did a big effort to ignore it, finally, after a long time, she fell asleep.
But the thing is, and that is the main issue in the story i will tell you eventually, Lyra's dad was right, there truly are other universes around us, floating and mutating in an endless empty no-space, abscent of time, energy or matter whatsoever, a misterious dimension made of all colors, shapes and textures, known and unknown, its such a beautiful emptyness, outside of everything you will ever know in your entire life and yet, such beauty is also a painful reminder of the distance between realities, and also a reminder of the solitude we all must endure at one point of our lives.
But enoght of this boring and painfully accurate speeches about the true nature of the existance we currently have, let's get back to our story, this chat about parallel universes is about to connect with the current issues in Lyra's love life, because universes are also, in a way, living things, even if they dont feed, they do are born, they develop, and finally they touch with other universes, sometimes, that touch destroys both of them, ripping the very bases of their natural orders apart and turning them into a undescribable mass of pure and free energy, a marvelous spectacle if you ask me, but some times, that slight touch unites them, creating a door for a new world that anyone can cross... if there are the right conditions of course.
And there it was, a new universe, floating around mine, getting closer and closer, making everything in my universe to feel... odd, most of us, including me, were feeling this strange behavior of all things, how the colors were shifting, or the gravity suddenly stopped working, for a second, trying to disgest this absurd spectacle of randomness displayed in front of me, i thought that Discord might have found a way to scape and perform a complete display of chaos all over Equestria, but this was not an act of magic, this was something beyond me, or Lyra or Discord or even Princess Celestia, this was beyond all of us.
Meanwhile, Lyra and Bon-Bon were sleeping on their bed, clueless of the events unfolding ouside and inside their room, the gravity inside was shifting in such interesting ways, making their drops of sweat float around the room, and turning the light around then to a beautiful, pure, blueish one, it was a deeply romantic and magnificent phenomenon, although i was too scared and confused to enjoy it as the light and the sky started to twist randomly on themselves, after a while, feeling the odd shift in gravity, Lyra finally woke up, "...Hmmmm!! ... wha- whats happening?", she asked outloud, very confused about this misterious display of crazyness, "... Mmmmmm... what time is it...?", Bon-Bon asked trying to wake up, "H- ho ... honey, wake up",
"What... what is it?",
"Look...", a drop of water was floating in fron of them, bubbling, shifting its shape and moving slowly to the left, "L- Lyra... what's going on?", she looked at her lover, scared, non of them have ever seen something like that and the standard response to the unknown is fear, so both of them were kind of scared, but Lyra was more curious than scared, and soon her curiosity would overcome her fear, "Gravity... it suddenly stoped working",
"W- what do you mean by that?!, how can that be?!", she hugged Lyra close and burried her muzzle in her chest, curling up in a ball like a scared filly, but Lyra was floating in a world of fantasy, her eyes were fully opened and a big smile was drawing in her lips, "just look at this sweety!... is so... beautiful", she touched a drop of water that was floating in front of her, watching it shift and mutate, transform in a marvelous spectacle of colors and shapes beyond her or my imagination, "don't be scared", she pushed Bon-Bon away softly, making her float aimless, at which Bon-Bon reacted with a scream, "N- no! put me down! PUT ME DOWN!",
"Hahahahahahaha... why?", she jumped and catched her lover in midair, floating around the room, spinning around their center of gravity, but het were not the only thing traveling through the empty spaces of their big room, the blankets, the pillows, even the mattress and the bed, althoug the bed was just a bit off the ground, nothing harmful though, "I- it... i i'm scared of flying...", Lyra then realized that her lover was not just being dramatic, she was trully panicking, and who can blame her, normally we are used to the laws of physics to work on general bases, and the fact that they are suddenly not working is not a good sign at all, specially for a mare that is not really aware of the ways the universe has to perform the order within its walls.
Lyra holded her lover's tight, she wanted to make her feel secure, warm and calmed, that she was not alone in this delussional madness, that she had somepony special to protect her from the misterious mischieves of reality, and that she was not going to let her go, "Shhh... shhh... it's ok sweety, clam down, im here for you, i'm not gonna leave you alone...", she nuzzled her mane and kissed her forehead, they floated silently around for a while, i can't tell you exactly what was Lyra thinking, with an odd vision of reality like the one she had, is actually hard to say what was going on inside her head, but i can guess, that aside of Bon-Bon, her head, like mine, was deeply filled with questions, question after question after question about the world we live in, she was likely studying this new feeling of zero gravity, trying to understand it and give it a reasonable explanation, but in a more calmed and joyful way than i ever could at that moment of my life.
Then, after feeling quietly the way she was floating, she suddenly started to think about stoping, about not moving, the slow but constant spin they were having was distracting her and had become something rather annoying, and then, after the idea of stopping deeply formed inside her head, they stoped moving, "Honey... i think i found something interesting about this...", she said in that passionate and delightful tone she uses when she finds out about something very interesting, "W... w- what is it?", she asled with a very shaky and frightened voice, "You can control the way you float with your mind!", after she said that, she thought about spinning around the blanket, then, her mind shited to stopping, and thus, they stopped moving, they just floated there, motionless, over the bed, Bon-Bon was now fascinated about this, all her fear, all her concerns were gone, at least for a moment, "I... i can't belive this..."
"Me neither!"
"Maybe... maybe we died or something", her face gained a sort of grim and a obscure expression, "Hahaha... don't be silly", Lyra said while approaching her, she looked at her deeply in the eyes, "we are just sharing a special moment without gravity", then she kissed her, in a soft and heartfull way, and then, as if the room around them were suddenly an expanssion of their hearts, the light in the room changed, and all the objects around them started to float in perfect orbits around the lovely couple.
Bon-Bon, who still was in a mild state of shock, was taken by surprise when Lyra kissed her, just like the first time they kissed, its funny though cause i was right there watching the whole event, trying not to laught at their nervous development, this time though, Lyra was confident and experienced, so the situation didn't go out of hand in an awkward way like that first time, soon Bon-Bon left herself melt into those beautiful and soft lips, wrapping her forelegs around Lyra's neck in a more nervous than a sensual way, of course, she was still struggling with zero gravity.
Outside, way outside their room, in the no-space, a mistical phenomenon was reaching its climax, just like Bon-Bon, a big blue and crumbling universe was wrapping around my universe, twisting it and shifting it in wonderful ways, they were both... dancing, spinning around eachother and dancing, yes, that's a good word, they were dancing in a magnificent tango, seducing eachother and getting closer every second, two lovers enjoying the seduction of the movmenet and the music of an entangled empty space filled with new meanings and new directions.
Around them, flares of pure energy started to burst from universe to universe, turning the darkness of the night sky into a mistical and beautiful mosaic of waves with a light dark prussian blue, and a bright, clear and impressive cobalt blue, bursting through outer space like a tsunami erasing manehattan from the face of this earth, but at the same time as gentle as an autum evening, fresh, beautiful and deeply romantic, then, as the universes were getting closer and closer, the waves of energy started to spin, creating a marvelous spiral that soon surounded all of the sky of Equestria, turning the sun light green and the sky purple.
All over the world the creatures were running scared, hiding in their homes, praying in their temples, assaulting food shops in absolute panic, guards were running busy trying to calm down the masses, fighting a war against mass paninc in two fronts, one from outside, and one from within, because non of them, or us, or anyone in thos place have ever seen an event like that in their lives, sometimes i like to call it... "interdimensional coitus", but that is a rather odd and kind of filthy label for such an outstanding event, so i just call it "universal brush".
i would love to end up this strange love story, but i like to leave ideas floating in the air so i can come back and study them later, also, is an interesting way to keep your attention in my story so you have the desire to keep reading it, after all, this is an excercise i am doing to be ready to tell a tale much more complex than this, because, after all, you deserve to know what i did, what i experienced and what i suffered, you deserve to know why it is so hard to for me to adapt back again to Equestria, after all, it is hard to escape to the charms and deeds of the human world.
