//-------------------------------------------------------// Starry Eyes -by OpalBerries- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Starry eyed //-------------------------------------------------------// Starry eyed An average guy by the name of Jack is sleeping soundly, peacefully and comfortably. Next to him is a small figurine about the size and width of four average man’s fingers put together. The figurine is covered by a small layer of blankets, and is resting upon a small pillow. The time is 6:00 AM, and his alarm clock just went off. He wakes up as soon as he hears the first ring, that one ring we all dread. He lies in bed for several more minutes until his tolerance breaks, and he gets up to turn off the alarm. He looks at his bed, only to see his small figurine still sound asleep in its covers. He picks up the figurine and takes it to the kitchen with him. Jack looks at the clock; it is 6:15 AM. The man fixes himself a bowl of cereal and a small bit sized piece of bread, of which he places next to his small Rainbow Dash figurine. After he eats his breakfast and fixes himself a bag of lunch, he takes his Figurine with him and places it on his nightstand; he then picks his clothes for the day and goes into the bathroom. After he finishes preening himself and exits his bathroom, he returns to the nightstand and picks up his figurine and goes into the living room. He places the figurine on a small shelf next to the entrance of his apartment. Next to the shelf he opens a closet door and picks up a backpack and places it around himself. Lastly, he goes back into the kitchen to retrieve his lunch, and as he exits once more, he grabs a small piece of bread left on his table and eats it, and finally exits his apartment with a whisper. “I’ll see you later.” The time is now 5:13 PM, and Jack returns to his apartment, tired looking, with a small hint of sadness in his eyes. He takes off his back pack and places it back in his closet, and as he closes it he takes his small figurine, and brings it into the kitchen with him. He fixes himself up a salad and puts a small amount of lettuce in a bowl and places it next to his Rainbow Dash; the toy, standing ever so quietly with a little smile across its face. After he finishes his food, he looks at his toy with its bowl still full. “Yeah, it was kind of a big breakfast; it’s okay, I don’t blame you.” With that he eats the small bowl of lettuce and takes his toy and places it on his desk, of which he spends the next 4 hours doing homework for his classes. The time is now 9:40 PM, and jack finally takes his homework and places it on the shelf where his figurine formerly stood. Jack then goes into his bedroom and places his toy on his night stand, takes out a pair of pajamas, and goes into his bathroom to rid himself of the days grime. After he is done, he goes back into his living room and opens a sliding door to his balcony and looks up into the sky. “Huuuhhhh… If only she were real… yeah, if only.” Jack then walks back into his apartment, closes the balcony door, returns to his bedroom, tucks in his Rainbow Dash, and finally puts himself to sleep, to sleep with a small tear coming down his face. The time is now 3:33 AM, and Jack feels a small tickle on the back of his neck. He wakes up and turns around, and he is now face to face with a small Rainbow Dash, the size of human baby. Instantly he shivers, his body just being injected with little amounts of adrenaline. He gets up out of his bed out of fear, shock, and unbelief, all the while the small creature frets at Jacks tall and daunting demeanor. The creature starts to whimper and cry. Jack just looks at it, still stricken with shock and dismay. He tries to comfort it by slowly walking towards it, but all it does is shriek in fear and cry louder. In a panic, Jack looks into one of his drawers and pulls out a pair of socks, and tosses them to the creature. The creature quiets down and its crying is now little sobs, and looks at the pair of socks with curiosity. Within a few seconds the creature starts to play and nibble on Jacks socks. Jack tries to come closer to it, but all it does is begin to whimper again, and so he backs off until it calms down again, until it continues to play with his socks. The time is now 5:29 AM; Jack has been staring at the creature since it fell asleep. Jacks mind has been wondering, thinking of countless possibilities of to how, and why, yet to no avail, and simply accepted that what has happened as reality. The time is now 6:00 AM, and Jacks alarm clock has just gone off. Immediately Jack rushes to turn it off, but not before it wakes the small creature lying on his bed. Jack and the creature stare at each other; the creature eying his every move. Jack then reaches back into his drawer and pulls out a small piece of candy. He opens the candy and tosses it over to the creature. The creature then jumps at the candy and just stares at it, sniffs it, and then eats it. It then looks at Jack and slowly walks toward him; Jack kneels down and slowly crawls to the edge of his bed. They are now but inches away, the creature looking down and seeming to be frightened at the small height. Jack reaches out his hands, as if to try and catch the creature; it looked at him and leapt but a few inches away from his bed and landed in his hands. Jack pulled her closer to him, holding her close to his chest, and looked down at his little creature; its eyes, twinkling as they stare up at him. Jack smiled, and so did it. Jack let out a tear, and the creature just licked it off his face, its hooves, petting his face; its soft fur giving Jack Goosebumps the entire time. The time is now 6:44 AM and Jack is serving the both of them breakfast; waffles, with butter and syrup. As they ate, the creature marveled in delight as it ate the food; its mouth, covered in syrup and butter. When they finished, Jack simply wiped its mouth clean and smiled at her as she licked her lips, trying to get any leftover residue of the syrup and butter. The time is now 7:55 AM and for the rest of the day, Jack and his little Rainbow Dash would play, eat, look at picture books, laugh, smile, and share all of the wonders of life and natures of this world. Now, Jack and his Rainbow Dash are out on his balcony, looking up at the stars and enjoying the night sky. The little pony simply making little sounds as she looked upon the vastness of the stars and the endlessness of the universe. That is until she made a sound familiar to Jack, the one sound every living person on the face of the planet dreads, one that ends all dreams in the blink of an eye. It was his alarm clock, and Jack is now awake. “It… it was all just a dream… just another sad dream.” With that, Jack gets up and does his same routine, breakfast, school, dinner, homework, and now the balcony. “Why… why do you do this to me? Why…” Tears, now falling from his eyes, he simply sat in his balcony chair and wept. The time is now 10:44 PM. Jack hears a small noise and feels a tugging on his leg; it’s his Rainbow Dash with a small piece of paper in its mouth. Jack picks her up and puts her on his lap; she simply snuggles against him in a small ball. The note reads, “I’m real in your heart.” Jack cries at the note and simply carries Rainbow Dash and puts her in his bed, Rainbow Dash in Jacks arms; together they sleep in peace. Sadly, Jack is once again only dreaming. He fell asleep on his balcony, and his figurine, still standing ever so quietly on his night stand, not making a sound; its smile, never fading, never changing into a frown; forever a smile, except this time it's shaking. //-------------------------------------------------------// Dreary eyed //-------------------------------------------------------// Dreary eyed The time is 5:43; Jack woke up, he felt around for his Rainbow Dash, yet feeling nothing but sheets and pillows. “Please… not again.” Tears started to well up in his eyes until he heard a noise coming from what sounded like his kitchen. Jack, suspicious of this activity, carefully got out of his bed and quietly made his way into his living room; the noise growing in intensity. As Jack neared the entrance of the kitchen he grabbed a chair from his dining area and held it up to his face, as if about to knock out whoever was ravaging through his kitchen. “RAAAAHHHHHH!!!!” “Ahhhhhhh,” Screamed a small pony, now cowering in the corner of his kitchen. Jack, in surprise, stood there for a moment, not understanding why his Rainbow Dash was even there, but also in awe, seeing as that she managed to decimate his entire kitchen all by herself. Shortly, after realizing he had just scared the Dash out of Rainbow, he quickly put down the chair and kneeled down to Rainbow’s level and slowly crawled toward her. “Woah, woah there… s-sorry, I-I wasn’t expecting to see you here, I-I thought y-you were gone again.” The Pegasus only stared at him, fright still lingering in her eyes and quaking body. Jack then turned over and sat down a couple feet away from Rainbow Dash and began to look around at the mess she had made, and by carefully examining his refrigerator and trash can, he began to understand what she was searching for. “Are you hungry?” The mare only continued to stare at him, now in the fettle position. Jack only stared at her a little longer before getting up and leaving the kitchen, the pony, slowly getting up from its position and then quickly ran under Jacks table as she saw him return. He looked in the kitchen first, but then quickly swiveled his head around to the table, locating his little pony. Jack then knelt down again and slowly stretched out his arm and unveiled his hand, revealing a small piece of taffy about the size of a quarter. “Hey, um… Do you like taffy? It’s nice and chewy and has a very sweet taste to it.” RD, noticing the familiar piece of candy, slowly walked towards Jacks hand and quickly retrieved the taffy from his hand. Jack smiled as he saw her open her mouth wide and then close as she struggled to eat the taffy. When she finally swallowed the treat she looked up at him, only to meet eyes with Jack lost in hers. “You h-have beautiful eyes…,” Jack said with a slight rasp in his voice. The time is now 6:00; Jack hears the alarm clock ringing, stings of adrenaline quickly surging through his body, fearing that if he were to hit the alarm he would wake up and realize it was all just another dream. Jack then got up and began to slowly walk backwards to his bedroom, never taking his eyes off of RD, in fear that she’ll disappear if he were to look away for a mere second. He finally arrived at his alarm clock. “You’re still here… why are you still here? Are you here to torment me forever?” RD only stared at him. “Well… you can disappear now if you want; maybe I won’t jump off the balcony if you do it while I’m still asleep.” RD then tried to hop on his bed, and after a few failed attempts she began to use her wings and inevitably float on top of Jacks bed, with Jacks mouth agape. “Okay, so now I know I’m dreaming; at least I won’t have to clean up that mess in the kitchen.” RD carefully walked over Jacks bed and towards his alarm clock. “Oh.. Oh, so you’re going to end it for me. Alright, alright I’ll play along; come on, hit that button, I dare ya, I double dare ya to hit that button.” RD only looked at him with her hoof hovering over the now button of death. “Come on, do it already; I got places to be and things to do.” RD then tapped the button with her hoof and walked to the edge of the bed nearest to Jack and clawed out to him, as if telling him to come to her. “Now you’re just messing with me. Come on here; this is getting old.” Noticing that Jack wasn't complying, she walked to the opposite end of Jacks bed and faced him in a racing position. “ You've got to be kidding me. What is this, Purgatory? What have I done to deserve this?” RD then sprinted across the bed and jumped at Jack, whom was knocked back slightly by the impact yet still able to catch RD in his arms. Jack then lifted her up to his face and just looked at her. “You have a lot of guts doing this, you know? I suspect there’s a bomb planted inside you and you’re about to take my life… but, seeing as I actually felt you impact my chest, I’m starting to think this is reality.” The mare’s stomach then growled; Jack simply looked at her with a ‘Damn girl, you’re still hungry?’ face. That is until his stomach also growled, with Jack receiving a playful and raspy laugh from RD. “…You hungry?” He was quickly responded with a flitter of wings and open smile from RD. “Yeah, me too... Let’s get some breakfast, shall we?” With that, he set RD down and walked to his kitchen, once again noticing the mess it possessed. “We should probably clean this up first.” He then looked to RD who was already sitting in the spot she was the day before. “Fine, I’ll clean it up.” After Jack finished the cleaning and had fixed their breakfast, they then both sat at the table, content with what they had eaten. “You know… that jump actually hurt a little; it was actually pulsating a little, too, after I caught you.” The mare just looked at him then jumped from her chair and ran to his balcony and stared out his window. Jack then accompanied her. “It was probably nothing…”
