Chapter 1:

Cries and the Goodbyes

Everypony was gathering around behind the fences to wave goodbye to the love ones who were setting off to war. Some ponies were crying, some were worried, but keep on being positive of how things will turn out to be, and others who are in terror-- wanting their loved ones at home and at peace. Granny Smith, Braeburn, and last but not least, Applejack were saying goodbye to Big Macintosh, however, Applejack was complaining about how Big Macintosh is betraying the family and the farm just by going to war.

"It ain't fair!" Applejack cried,

"why do you have to go! Why can't some other pony take his place?"

Big Macintosh felt guilt weighing down on his back, though he know it isn't his fault.

He responded back "Applejack, somepony has to go-- no matter how painful it sounds."

Applejack was still a teenage pony around the time as well as Braeburn-- except Braeburn was a bit older. Big Macintosh was always the "leader" around their little farm in Sweet Apple Acres. He loved the place as if it were to be his own child. Braeburn's watery eyes were covered by his hat's shade. Applejack's eyes started to water as well. Her voice trembled as while she was whimpering. "Please, Big Mac! Don't leave me!". She ran into him, hugging him as if the day were to be their last. Her big, beautiful green eyes gazed upon Big Macintoshs', and she started to cry. Big Macintosh eyes watered as well as Granny Smiths' eyes. Granny Smith was trying to deny her tears by saying "Okay.. say your last goodbyes before Big Macintosh leaves..". Applejack was still hugging Big Macintosh, Braeburn in as a goodbye patted him on the back, not trying to make his watery eyes noticable to him. Granny Smith kissed Big Mac on the forehead, hugged him, then they set off their way.

"Wait!" Big Macintosh cried out,

"Applejack.. I wanna give ya somethin' ".

Applejack ran back to him as fast as possible. He took his hat off of his head, then setted it on Applejacks' instead. She was surprised. He had that hat ever since he was just a little foal-- and he never allowed anypony to touch it, sometimes he doesn't even like touching it himself. She felt like she was better, instead now she's crying with joy. Big Macintosh picked her up real quick, gave her a good hug before she can run off. By the time when everypony was ready to leave, one of ponies in the train said "Hurry everypony! We're gettin' 'bout ready to leave!"

Big Macintosh setted down his sister, said their final goodbyes, then setted off their own ways.
