//-------------------------------------------------------// Bleakest Days -by Jynxer Darkpon3- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// dead freinds //-------------------------------------------------------// dead freinds Twilight Sparkle ran down the muddy streets of Ponyville. She was running not for joy or jubilance but instead for her life. The dead had risen and were now after her and her friends, Rainbow Dash and Rarity. She rounded a corner followed by Rainbow Dash. “Where’s Rarity?” asked Twilight “She was right behind me.” Responded the rainbow haired Dash. They heard a gun fire just around the corner and rushed to see what was happening. Rarity was surrounded by the walking dead. Twilight and Rainbow Dash ran to help, raising their guns to shoot the zombies but it was too late the dead had already started to consume their purple haired friend. They raised their gun and fired, and quickly dispatched the small hoard. They two companions then went to see what was left of their friend. Twilight and Rainbow Dash looked upon the gruesome scene with great sorrow as the corpse of their once beloved Rarity lay dead face down in a puddle of blood. Twilight then proceeded to flip over her former friend’s body and close her eyes. “Good bye old friend” Twilight whispered as a single tear rolled down her cheek. “Come on” Rainbow said interrupting her, “we’ve got to get to the train station Applejack and the other are waiting for us.” “Have you no respect for the dead!” Twilight screamed “Twilight listen to me if we don’t get moving now more will come and we won’t be able to stop them from doing the same to us you. So please let us leave this place.” RD said “Ok, but first you must answer my question.” Twilight replied “I lost a lot of friends while fighting in the Dragon War, but I would always remember that if I gave up that if I didn’t fight then everybody that I hold dear would face the same painful death as my friends.” RD said rubbing the scars on her hands from when the dragons nailed her and at least two dozen of her squad mates to a post and whipped her, laughing and betting who would last the longest before dying. RD lost a good friend that day, Shadow Wing, a good man who would sacrifice himself to keep you from dying to those horrific monsters. RD never forgot that moment when he finally collapsed and closed his eyes for the last time. That was the day before the rescue force came. She was the only survivor. Now all she had to remember him by was the silver magnum strapped to her thigh. “If only we hadn’t released that virus to kill the dragons then Spike might still be alive.” Twilight said “Why did the princes allow that? It only led to this disaster.” RD said “It isn’t her fault no one could of known that it would have any effect on people.” Twilight protested defending her beloved ruler and now fellow Alicorn. And with that the two friends departed the depressing scene and headed down the street towards where the station was. They left with great grief in their hearts as they could not give Rarity or any of the once loved residence of Ponyville. We could have saved her thought Twilight as she walked down the road if only I wasn’t so rushed to get to the station I might have seen her fall behind and could’ve helped her. “Hey, you ok Twi?” Rainbow asked “Yeah I’m fine.” responded Twilight “It isn’t your fault that she’s gone, ya know?” She told Twi “I know but I feel as if I could’ve prevented it.” Twilight said “You couldn’t of have known this could happen.” “Yes but if I was more vigilant I might of have seen her fall behind and been able to cover her till she until she caught up.” “I’m going to scout ahead, ok Twi.” RD said ending the conversation. “Ok” Rainbow Dash stretched her baby blue wings and took to the skies quickly reaching beyond Twilight’s view. Twilight kept walking down the destroyed street that had once been filled with the chatter and laughter of a dozen of people all there to buy goods of all kinds, cake from the Cakes, office supplies from the department store and her personal favorite the book store. This place would never be the same again but she was confident that with Celestia’s help they could fix all of this and at least rebuild so it would never happen again. Twilight then just realized what might happen if the Princess was one of these horrible things and couldn't help. What would she do? Turn to Luna or Cadence, Discord maybe? But that didn't matter now all that matter was getting to the train station and getting to Canterlot. Twilight went over to a tipped over cart to sit. She had to calm down if she didn't who knows what could happen. She took off her pack and pulled out her canteen. She drank the water and followed it up with a Colt Bar. She looked inside her pack and checked how much food she had. Roughly a week’s worth of freeze dried food and a couple days of snakes, mostly Colt Bars, and another water bottle. She looked up from her pack to see if Rainbow had come back but she hadn't. She did however see a grocery store just across the street and contemplated in her head if she should go check it out. It was a risk but she was willing to take that risk. She picked up her assault rifle, leaving her pack and headed across the street to the store. She looked into the shattered windows of the store and started to regret her decision, but they would need the supplies if the train was out and they wouldn't have the time when they reached the train. Twilight reached for the door handle of the run down building to find that it was un locked. She threw the door open and jumped behind it for cover. Nothing came running out at her, but that didn’t mean nothing lay within. She entered the store with her gun raised and ready to kill any of those creatures that crossed her path. She cautiously rounded a corner leading down to the back of the store. The light from the door faded so she turned on her flashlight. She saw something run across the aisle. She jumped at the sight and nearly screamed but she somehow managed to restrain herself from doing so. She continued down the aisle even though she was now more afraid than ever to be in this place. She reached the end of the aisle and immediately turned left, the direction she saw the beast run. It was there, its gooey skin stretched over bones that looked too big for its size just sat there back turned to Twilight no more than twenty feet away. It turned its ugly head to revile its hideous face. Its mouth was crammed with dozens of bloodied spikes that were teeth and its eyes were whiter then paper. It screamed and Twilight pulled the trigger of her M16A1 and let out a burst of hot lead into the creature. This only made it angrier though and it ran at Twilight. She pulled the trigger again unloading a whole mag into the creature, but it didn’t stop, it kept running closing the distance between the two in seconds. Twilight then heard the worst sound that she possible could. A click. Realizing she was out she turned her gun around and hit the beast with the butt of her weapon. It went flying and stuck the back of one of the shelves. It wasn’t dead though it got back up and started to turn towards Twilight. She drew her Glock 17 and put a bullet through the things head. It fell never to get back up again. RD then came around the corner. “What the hell is that thing?” she asked. “I don’t know and I don’t want to find more of them.” said Twilight replacing the spent mag in her M16. “If you don’t want to find them, then why are you in this place?” Asked RD “We won’t have enough supplies to make it to Canterlot with all nine of us without more supplies and we wouldn’t have the time to come back here to get what could be here either.” Twilight responded “True and Mr. G always did keep this place well stocked.” RD said “and you’re right we might as well restock on food and supplies while we are here and I need to find more ammo for my shotgun, it’s almost out.” “Oh yeah?” Twilight said not noticing she had her UMP instead of here shot gun “What did happen to that?” “I left it outside with our packs.” RD said “, so where would the food be anyways?” “Right over there through the double doors in the back.” Twilight said They both went to the doors and flung them open ready to shoot anything that moved. Nothing did. All that was in the room was empty cans and fallen shelves. They proceeded into the room with extreme caution determined not to lose another friend that night. Slowly they rounded a corner to see another one of those crawler things eating what must have been an employee at one point. RD let loose a burst from her UMP while Twilight shot for its head but missed. The creature only stuttered from the hits RD scored on it but this was all Twilight needed to put a bullet in between its eyes. It fell to the ground with a thud. They went over to see what who it was the thing was eating. His name tag said that his name was Stockpile. Twilight thought that she had been helped by him once but that wasn’t one of her concerns now, the only thing that mattered was getting that food for their friends. They continued down the hall to find just what they had been looking for, there in the center of the room was a pallet fully stocked with all the food that they would need to make it to Canterlot. The only problem now was how to get it to the train. “So you up for some heavy lifting?” asked RD “I thought that you were going to carry this thing.” Twilight responded “Hey the Pegasus Air Force makes you strong but they never anticipated having to lift a metric ton wooden pallet of canned peaches and roast beef.” RD quickly shot back. “Well then how are we going to move this thing?” Twilight asked “Hey you’re the book worm you figure something out.” RD said “We both know I regrettably haven’t read a book since this thing started two month ago and besides I don’t think any book in my library would have any advice on how to move a metric ton of groceries two miles.” Replied Twilight “Well then I guess we won’t be able to carry it all.” Said RD “We can both top off our packs then we might have enough if Applejack and the others have some.” Commented Twilight “Guess so, but I still need to find some ammo for my gun.” Said RD “Yeah those crawlers really take a number to kill don’t they?” Twilight replied “Ya know they might have some spare rounds out front. I think I saw them when I came in but didn't grab them.” Twilight replied “Good idea we will need to find some more ammo soon if we’re going to make it to the train station.” RD said As soon as they had as much food as they could fit piled into a shopping cart the two headed put for the door finding nothing that they hadn't killed on their way in. They also found that twilight was right and there was about forty rounds in one of the cash registers. A curious place to find them but they weren't too sad about that. After they had looted all that they could they decided to head for the train station once again. They were just putting on their pack when they heard gun shots in the distance. They ran to the place where the gun shot came from. When they got there tough all the found was a few empty shells and four corpses, one of which was of a person that Twilight didn’t recognized…But RD did.
