The sound of three sets of hooves happy clopping up stairs fill the empty home and boutique of the fashionista Rarity. It was a sound that would normally have sent this diva of a pony into hysterics, the thought of such monstrosities let loose in her creatively wrought workplace causing her to pass into shock. But luckily for three young fillies of indeterminable evil, Rarity was not home right now.
With a happy little jump I leapt up onto the last step the stairs, only slightly off put by the sharp creak of the stairs throwing off the song running through my head. And when something interrupted a song there was only one thing to do. Belt it out for the whole world to hear of course.
"You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals,
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Cha-"
Before I could even finish that one single line dusty yellow hooves were wrapped around her muzzle, holding it close. Eyes, a shade between yellow and orange, filled my sight narrowed in exasperation.
"What have ah said about singing songs you don't know the meaning of?"
Apple Bloom removed her hoof and as she did more dusty little particles entered my nose, leaving that tickly feeling snaking down the back of my throat. I crinkled up my nose, partially from the oncoming sneeze and partly for the answer.
"Not to?"
Apple Bloom nodded sagely. In slow motion none the less. I tilted my head, wondering for a second how but then, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted something shiny. Which in retrospect isn't that uncommon in my big sisters house.
I bounce over to the doorknob that leads to our destination. For some reason this was the only room in the whole house that didn't contain anything really. That's why Rarity agreed that if I absolutely had to practice magic in the house I should do it in here. Her only stip- stipu...her only thingy was I wasn't allowed to go in the closet. Luckily for me she left helpful reminders pasted to the door. Such bold words as "Danger" or "Trespassers Will be Shot". Not all of them made sense in the context they were in but I suppose the hardware store didn't have keep out signs for closet doors.
Behind me Apple Bloom was hesitating just within the door way, eyes focused on the the neon yellow and crimson red signs pasted on all surfaces on the closet.
With a singular twitch of her eye Apple Bloom turns to me.
"What in Celestia's cake is in there?"
"Um, I don't know" I scratch my chin "I think it might be where Rarity keeps her Element necklace. It wasn't like this before they sealed Discord away."
"That makes... sort of sense... Here Ah thought Celestia kept the Elements in a box only she could open. But that'd be just silly; what if there was a spontaneous attack and Celestia was taken down, like when them changeling critters invaded."
Outside the window the thunk of a hoof connecting with a face could be heard, but none of these three little fillies gave the hollow sound any thought.
“Oh, come on! Let’s just get to our crusading,” Scootaloo punctuated the end of her sentence with a stomp of her hoof as she craned her head one way and then the other trying to see around the yellow flank in front of her, “Cutie Mark Crusaders Magic Prodigies!”
I giggled as Scootaloo just head butted Apple Bloom in the buns, causing Apple Bloom to tumble forward head over heels until she came to a standstill as her back hooves got tangled in the loops of her bow that is. From underneath the now messy mop of hair Apple Bloom shot both of us a glare that could wither an apple off its branch. I felt the smile flee my face. Apple Bloom sighed before she let the shadow of a smile return.
"Scoots, you're right. Ah guess...Next time though, don't go head butting me in mah plot!"
Scoots just grins that cocky little grin of hers before wiping out the box of cereal we were going to attempt to turn in to cupcakes. I mean why call it honey oats if you can't even taste the honey.
I widened my stance, having too often been blown clear to the Everfree from exploding magic. Scootaloo and Apple Bloom ducked quickly behind me. I felt the slow tingle of magic leak into my horn and by crossing my eyes I could see the start of sparks coming from it.
Then nothing.
I don't remember what happened next. I think I must have had a case of spontaneous magic outburst again because I could hear the ringing bells of angels in my ears and everything was white, a nice clean white. I wondered distantly if this was pony heaven before the white faded to blurry colors and the ringing stopped.
"Sweetie Belle! C'mon wake up!"
I woke up snout to snout with Scootaloo, I could count the prickly hairs on her muzzle kind of close. I gave a blissful smile before starting to close my eyes again. Blissful white…
“Come on!”
This time it’s punctuated by a swift jab in my ear. A rather cold and somewhat prickly jab. My eyes shoot open and no longer is Scootaloo’s muzzle right in front of me. No, instead now I have a clear view to the neck and unwashed area behind the ears of my friend. I scrambled up despite the tingling still lacing up and down my legs. Once stable I leap backwards, pawing at the rather wet feeling in my ear. With an afterthought I stick out my tongue at the offending Pegasus. Didn’t matter that she didn’t see it because of how hard she was laughing, I felt better doing so.
I turn around to where Apple Bloom is sitting quietly flat on her rump. In doing so I slightly trip over something but I pay no heed. Instead my eyes turn to saucers and my rump decides to take a nap right then and there, leaving me sitting much like my friend.
