The night the sun rose early

Mischief Sparkles was going to have the time of her life. Like all ponies, she was named suitably. Mischief loved everything about fireworks. Their color, their sound, just plain everything. However,  that wasn't the case tonight. These fireworks had a more distinctive purpose. She had bought some illegal powder via the Everfree black market and had special mixed it in this dose. To save time, she carefully wrapped it in newspaper and plucked a mane hair to use as a wick. She looked up at the waxing moon. It was time. It had been carefully coordinated and planned despite the days of setting up appointments and meetings. Tonight, ( and this night only )  Mintys and Forgetfuls worked together to get the truth out of Celestia and Luna: Where they Mintys or Forgetfuls? Witch ever side they were on overall contributed the most and could do what they wanted with the other. It was a shook upon deal. Stuffing fireworks into a saddlebag, she started at a gallop towards an alleyway where she and her fellow Forgetfuls would meet.  She trotted up to a small stairwell squeezed in between a coffeehouse and a pub. A seedy looking Colt with a mustard-colored mane put up a hoof as she approached. She showed the freshly inked Forgetful tatoo on her elbow and passed. After flights and flights of stairs she found herself in a cement room surrounded by ponies from near and far. She sat down at a graffiti etched table  and had a glass of carrot juice as she played poker with a colt and a twin set of mares. Copies of the poster that started it all where on the walls, crossed out and even covered in cuss words.  Finally a mare in a shadowy hood stood up on a table and cried " TONIGHT, WE RUN THIS TOWN!" she laughed. Everyone raised splashing glasses of carrot juice as the mare rolled down her hood and showed off her navy and pink mane. After everyone grabbed their pitchforks, hoes, shovels, torches, and other assorted weapons, Bon bon pulled out a photo of Lyra. She sighed. This war had driven her to madness but it was just never meant to be. She followed them with a gallon of kerosene.  They marched up the hill to the castle, ambushing passing villages, herding up more followers, until the road was red with fire.  The blaze could be seen for miles around.

                                                                                    ...........

Princess Luna was tweaking the constellations around a bit on the balcony when she spied something rippling over the horizon. She was angry. Celestia didn't tell her it was time to raise the sun yet. She walked into the grand bedchamber where she saw Celestia admiring the garden outside the window. " Celestia!" she cried, " Thou did not tell thy the sun was to be raised!"  Celestia turned. " What on earth do you mean? Luna, you simply must go to bed. I haven't even raised a spark of the sun yet!" Luna stopped in mid-stride. She ran to the balcony and saw the flickering faces of their once peaceful citizens bucking and smashing down the door. The unicorn members of the mob had used magic to tie up the guards in rope.  Suddenly, the door shattered and the people let out cries of glee and ran inside. Luna ran back to her solar sister  and cried, " Fly! Fly fly fly! Hurry! Thy angry citizens have stampeded our abode!!!" Celestia processed Luna's outdated form of speak and raised herself with her onto the balcony and took flight. However, down on the ground, ponies like Mischief Sparkles had been planning for this. Using their torches, they lit clusters of fireworks at a time and watched as they launched into the air and exploded in a shower of sparks, the sisters dodging frantically to avoid the flares. Mischief lit off her last firework and it hit Celestia right in the wing, braking the bone and sending her like a stone to the ground. They made a large circle to catch her and tied her up in rope, slapping her unconscious until she was unable to use her unicorn powers to escape. throwing her onto the back of the cart, a few where dispatched to dump her in the Everfree River while other stormed the castle and other sent flares up towards Luna. The castle was looted, then ever so carefully each room was soaked in kerosene. Luna zipped and dodged the explosives as fast as she could, sending down energy balls  and watching as they exploded, sending ponies flying here and there. " to think," she thought to herself, " this was all the cause of a paste of teeth advertisement." she shook her head and finally escaped the mob shakily, and flew off a few miles until a long-shot flare struck her down, sending her into the unreachable depths of the forest, where her body fell, littered in weeds. Meanwhile, The Forgetfuls leader, ( Bon Bon ) and the Mintys leader, ( Lyra ) where planning on lighting the biggest missle left together on the spire. They both let down their hoods, nodded to each other, and grabbed a punk.  After a blank stare at Lyra for a few minutes, in a sudden anti-logic burst of rage,  she pushed her friend off the tower and watched her fall, arms out in shock, face twisted with heartbreaking sadness and writhing pain as her cape fluttered and she landed somewhere in the crowd. Gasping at her acts, Bon Bon turned away, bit her lip, and drew out some salty tears until she snapped into shape and lit the firework. Nimbly jumping from roof to roof, she escaped just in time as it exploded and the castle set off into a mountain, no, a volcano of fire.

With this blast and Lyra defeated, the war had begun.
