What if?

Canterlot:

Twilight smiled as she looked at herself in the mirror, not one hair in her perfectly styled mane was out of place. Turning from the mirror she proceeded to check her bag to make she had all the necessary items for the party. At the sound of hooves behind her she whirled around. But it was only her assistant. “Oh Diamond Tiara you frightened me!” She said smiling.

Diamond Tiara glared at her.”And where do you think your going?” She asked Twilight, a stern expression on her face. Twilight shifted slightly on her hooves, uncomfortable with Diamonds glare. None the less her voice came out cool and confident as she replied : “I'm going to Moondancers party, it's like, the biggest social party of the year! Moondancer always goes all out.” Diamond Tiara sighed, Twilight was a party pony and never studied, even though she should, as it was kinda her job. “And what about those books Princess Luna wants you to study for the summer sun celebration?” Diamond Tiara asked Twilight pointedly. Twilight groaned “Buts its so many! And besides studying is BORING!” She whined. “Funny, Iv'e never got the impression two books are all that much.” Diamond Tiara said in a sarcastic voice.

“Well maybe if you did more than nag me all day you'd have your cutie mark by now.” Twilight snapped at her filly assistant. Diamond Tiara cringed, lifting her leg to cover her blank flank. “Thats not fair twilight! You were way older than me when you found out what your special talent is!” Diamond Tiara almost yelled. Twilight had struck a nerve and she knew it. Twilight grinned “Well I think that gives me a good enough excuse to go to Moondancer's party.” And before Diamond could protest Twilight left. Slamming the door behind her.

Manehatten:

“But Rarity you mustn't go!” Applejack stated, loudly in a whiny voice “Who will keep me company at the spa?!!” Rartiy rolled her eyes and replied : “Applejack, your a grown mare! Besides the Red Stained Stallions might not be playing again for weeks! And I am not going to miss out on  a concert because you are scared of getting you hooves dirty!”

Rarity and Applejack glared at each other, though best friends since Rarity first moved to manehatten they were compleately different. Aj enjoyed the finer things in life, like getting her mane styled and her hooves polished, whereas Rarity prefered to trek through miles of mud to get to her all-important rock concerts.

Applejack nodded “Ok, Rarity you go. But your going to owe me big time when you get back.” Rarity squeed and bounced up and down. “Oh thank you Aj! I'll be back soon!” She turned and ran out of the spa.

Applejack shook her head and rolled her eyes. And though neither mare knew it, Rarity was in for a big surprise.

Cloudsdale:

Rainbow dash looked out unsurely at the flight course. It was long, wide and difficult, at least it was to her anyway. She gulped and turned to her instructor “Do I have to?” She asked in a feint voice. The butter-yellow pegasus glared at her. “Yes you do” she snapped back at Dash. “And while your at it, cut your mane, its much too long!” She said, glaring at the cyan pegasuses long mane, which curled delicately  at the top of her forelegs. “B-but how am I supposed to cut my mane and f-fly at the same time? The yellow mare groaned “I don't care just go and FLY FLY FLY” She yelled. In fright Rainbow Dash took off, and basically messed up the whole course.

Fluttershy sighed, she had been Rainbow Dash's flight instructor for the past year, and the cyan pegasus was getting worse rather than better. Fluttershy didn't want to let RD's family down, but she didn't see any other sane choice! Rainbow Dashes family had spent a lot of time and effort trying to help her fly, but it wasn't working. The pony had gotten her cutie mark at the age of 6 when she discovered flowers were her passion, as well as most other plants, and though she could grow even the most delicate of flowers, she could barely fly. In fact the only reason Rainbow Dash flew at all was to go to and from ponyville to get plant seeds and other gardening equipment.

Rainbow Dash landed beside Fluttershy, panting, her wings hung limply by her side. "So, how'd I do?" She asked hopefully. Fluttershy sighed, no matter how many times she failed Rainbow Dash never gave up hope. "Sorry Dashie, maybe you'll get it next time." Rainbow's face fell. "How bad?" Fluttershy shifted her eyes "Uh.. well..."  Rainbow dash meet her friends eyes. "Oh.. that bad" She said quietly before taking off and heading home, with a slightly wobbly flight pattern.

Ponyville:

Pinkamena stormed through the town. She hated going into ponyville and she hated the cheery villagers, however  the only way for her to get to Zac was through this dammed town. It annoyed her that they we're all so happy when in her mind there was nothing to be happy about. Zac understood all of this. He was a zebra that lived in a hut in the everfree forest and her only friend.

She passed sugar cube corner and saw Mr. and Mrs. Cookie with their twins, here she paused to let them pass. She wondered briefly how foals could be so happy, and if she had ever been like that, but it was gone the next second as she entered the everfree. She was.. not happy perhaps but the closest she could get to it while in the forest,

However her life and everything she knew was about to change drastically...
