The sky was grey, the landscape void of color. An Aged, ash colored earth mare wearing a white collar and pink Bowtie sat down for a picnic with her best friend. She lays down the blanket, organizes the food, and raises the glass to the gravestone in front of her. "Vinyl, it's been 40 years now, but I still miss you, and I still love you. Cheers." She lifts her glass and drinks to her long gone friend.

Octavia sighs, as her roommates music begins to blare over her speakers.

"Vinyl!", she shouts, "How many times have I told you to use headphones?"

The unicorn shrugs. "Too many to count now."

Octavia rolls her eyes and tosses the unicorns black and blue headphones into her lap. The DJ reluctantly plugs them in, and continues to work, headphones around her neck.

"So Tavi", says Vinyl, "Got a gig tonight at the Night Light. Gonna be there?"

Octavia rolls her eyes. The Night Light is Vinyl's favorite club. It's also very loud, crowded, dirty, and not her music. But... She doesn't want to disappoint her friend. Even when Vinyl has her glasses, the cellist cant stand seeing her upset.

"Yes, I'll be there. I expect dinner afterwords though." She sighs.

The unicorns face lights up with joy. "Great! Your gonna love what I have planned!"

The Night Light's Sign was glowing dimly, the building neglected and falling apart. However, the popularity and beat coming from inside always surprised the cellist. She opens the door with one hoof, and instantly covers her nose with her other. The inside of the club smelled like a mix between sweaty bodies, beer, and bad decisions.

On the stage was a mixing table, being run by a white unicorn with an electric blue mane. Despite the harsh noises that were forced over the speakers, the DJ looked at peace. When she was at her table, nothing mattered. Not anypony else's criticism, not anyponys judging eyes, nothing. The world around her melts away, there is only her and her music.

Octavia smiled. It wasn't often she saw her friend play. She knew too well the feeling of being engulfed in her music.

As the song ended, Vinyl grabbed the microphone and said "It's time for something new motherfuckers!" The entire club goes quiet, and one deep, familiar note rings throughout the building. Octavia is taken aback, this was a cello playing! Soon the music launches into the DJ's normal music, but the cello never stopped. It gave the song a whole new feel, so much more ominous yet beautiful. It was like the boundary between two worlds was broken, and the cellist loved every second.

It was early in the morning, the sun beginning to rise, once the duo arrived at their apartment. The entire walk back the earth pony didn't stop talking about Vinyl's new song. The DJ knew she could be boring, but annoying too? It was just an instrument she used to open a song. However, she still made her roommate realize her music wasn't just loud bass, and because of this she was proud.

"You know, I would never had tried this if it weren't for you" said Vinyl.

Octavia blushed and looked away. "I'm glad to help... I guess." A lightbulb went off in her head. "Hey! We should make a song together!"

A lightbulb went off in the unicorns head as well. A smile slowly formed on her face. "Let's do it."
