Applejack sat by the beautiful beach and gazed upon the sunset. She was waiting. As she always did. Rainbow was never early and was also never on time. She was late. Rainbow Dash and Applejack had been pony “pals” ever since Twilight Sparkle had made the “Mane Six”. Applejack and Rainbow were just now getting serious and Applejack didn’t want to bail out on Rainbow but the sun was setting and it was getting kind of cold. Applejack got up to leave and as soon as she stood up, she heard the flapping of pegasus wings. Without turning around, Applejack said, “I was worried you weren’t going to come Rainbow…” her sentence was cut short as she turned around to see Princess Twilight Sparkle. “Oh, hi Applejack!” she said cheerily. “Oh, hi,” Applejack replied glumly as she turned around to leave. “Were you expecting someone else?” Twilight asked. “No, just watching the sun set,” Applejack replied icily. “Bye!” Twilight called cheerily. “Stupid Rainbow Dash, always bailing out on me. I wanted to be more than friends but she can’t even show up to a nice dinner on the beach,” Applejack muttered under her breath as she stomped away from the edge of the shoreline.
“I’m here! I’m here!” Rainbow Dash called out as she flew to the shoreline. Applejack was gone. Rainbow felt so degraded. Applejack said she’d wait. Even though it was midnight, Applejack said she would wait. Rainbow was about to fly back to Cloudsdale when a deep voice sounded from behind her, “Hello, Rainbow Dash.” Rainbow Dash turned around to see… the most gorgeous stallion she had met in her life! He was a blue color with a dark blue mane and a lightning bolt cutie mark. “Were you looking for someone else?” the stallion pegasus said in his deep, soothing voice. “Not at all!” Rainbow replied as she threw herself into his outstretched arms. The two cuddled in the full moon, talking and laughing when Rainbow Dash lay on top of the stallion and her lips touched her new-found boyfriend.
Applejack was up early picking apples when she saw a light blue streak in the sky. She knew immediately who it was. “Rainbow, get down here!” Rainbow stopped and flew down to Applejack. “Hey what’s up?” Rainbow said as she landed smoothly beside Applejack. “I thought we were going to have dinner last night! I waited until the sun had set and all you say to me is ‘What’s up?’” “Applejack look, I’m sorry. But I have been having second thoughts on our whole…” Rainbow paused as if trying to find the right words. “Relationship, thingy, I don’t know.” “You don’t know!” Applejack screamed. “Okay, here’s the thing you don’t know, Rainbow Dash! I love you and you love me. Why can’t we just be a couple?!” Applejack yelled at a startled Rainbow Dash. “Rainbow!” called a distant, male voice. “Coming Lightning Eclipse!” Rainbow Dash called back. “Who’s that?” Applejack asked. “The man of my dreams,” Rainbow Dash said dreamily as she flew toward the clouds. “Somethin’ ain’t right,” Applejack questioned as she left her unpicked apples and walked briskly toward Princess Twilight Sparkle’s castle.
“An unknown stallion, deep, soothing voice; seems to have control over Rainbow Dash. It doesn’t add up. I’m sorry Applejack. But I have no references to those kind of circumstances,” Princess Twilight said. “But, there has to be something! I-I love Rainbow and she loved me too until she met that stallion!” Applejack protested. “I’m sorry. Maybe she was just playing us for fools. Maybe she isn’t in love with you or never really was. Applejack, I’m sorry. I’m here for you,” Twilight said reassuringly to Applejack as she tried to put her hoof on her friend’s back. Applejack flinched away, tears streaming out of her eyes. “Twilight, I-I just don’t know what to do anymore.”
“Here ye! Here ye! Rainbow Dash cordially invites all ponies to her and Lightning Eclipse’s wedding on June 21st!” a royal page called out into Ponyville. Ponies from every house stuck their heads out to listen to the message and begin to prepare for the huge wedding day. Applejack, still in her bed, with a ruffled, matted mane, opened her window and yelled at the page, “Will you shut up?! Ponies are trying to sleep!” Applejack slammed the window shut and threw her quilt over herself when she heard the cheerful voice of Apple Bloom call, “Applejack! Time for breakfast! Apple pancakes are on the table!” Applejack dragged herself out of bed, not even bothering to put on her hat, and stumbled down the stairs. Apple Bloom gasped when she saw her big sister, “Applejack! Are you feeling alright? Are you coming down with Hay Fever?” “No little sis, I’m just tired. I will wake up in a bit,” Applejack replied soothingly. Breakfast went smoothly for the Apple Family but on the other side of town, Rainbow Dash was getting fitted for her wedding gown.
“I should be able to fly in it. And I also want some rainbows. And…” Rainbow trailed off with misty eyes as she stared off into space. Rarity clapped her hooves, “Wake up Rainbow Dash! You must simply pay attention dahling!” Rainbow Dash jolted herself and continued with her list of thing for her wedding dress as if nothing had happened.
“My princesssss…” a hissing rasping voice said. “Yes, Knight Dark Cloud?” Queen Chrysalis said as she looked upon a thin dark blue Changeling. “I am marrying Rainbow Dash tonight. I have been feeding off the Love Energy that literally pours from her sssssince she isssss sssssoooo in love with that other pony, Applejack.” “Good work my Knight. By this time tomorrow, you will have enough energy to lay an egg or two. When they hatch, you must infest Ponyville with them. The Love Energy is so strong there, we can harvest the entire place,” Queen Chrysalis said as she nodded to the dark blue Changeling. “I can hear Rainbow Dassshh calling, I must be off,” the dark blue Changeling bowed to his queen and changed into what only can be described as, a blue stallion with a dark blue mane and a lightning bolt cutie mark.
The wedding ceremony song began to sound through the chapel as Rainbow Dash walked down the aisle with a bouquet in her hooves, her long dress train, trailing behind her. Her true love, or almost true, was standing at the end of the aisle. Mares in the benches were crying and blowing their noses for a wedding comes only once in a lifetime. As Rainbow took her place beside the Mane Six, minus Applejack and Twilight Sparkle, standing in front of her bridesmaids, a pony from outside to chapel was watching the whole ceremony. Princess Twilight was standing by Princess Celestia and Luna as Princess Celestia prepared to say the traditional words of a wedding. “Friends, family, mares, and gentlecolts, we have come here today to celebrate the joining of two hearts. And before we begin is there anyone who would object to this lovely marriage?”
Without eating breakfast, Applejack had quickly raced to Twilight’s house to find something. She had remembered something about an encounter with a similar situation, Changelings. They were horse-like creatures that fed off Love Energy. Applejack and the Mane Six had defeated their queen but Applejack had a gut feeling at the time, Lightning Eclipse had something to do with Changelings. Applejack had searched through Twilight’s entire library until she found this one thing about Changelings that said they could change form to any pony’s heart’s desire. With this proof, Applejack had rushed to the chapel to stop the wedding at just the right time.
“Stop the wedding!” shouted Applejack as she busted in the chapel. Horses groaned and Rarity shook her head. “What is the meaning of this Applejack?” Princess Celestia said angrily. “That is not a pony! He is a changeling!” Applejack said as she pointed at Lightning Eclipse. Lightning Eclipse began shaking uncontrollably as he burst into his true form, a dark blue Changeling with green eyes. “Yesss, it is I, Knight Dark Cloud of the Changeling realm! I have come to kill all ponies!” Knight Dark Cloud yelled as ponies ran from the chapel. Applejack wasn’t afraid. She quickly ran up and kicked the Changeling in the face. As the Changeling got up to retaliate, Applejack ran and stomped on the Changeling’s head. Green blood spurted out from its skull and it lay motionless on the ground.
Checking the damage, everyone seemed alright. Rarity had fainted of course; Rainbow was in shock because of what had happened. Applejack had fled the scene; but other than that no major injuries were reported to Princess Celestia.
Weeks later, Applejack sat on the coastline of Sunshine Beach; waiting for someone special. “Hi Rainbow,” Applejack said as she looked up to see the pony she had wanted to be with. Rainbow Dash flew down and lay on top of Applejack. The sun was just setting as two ponies’ lips met together and their hearts burst with love. Finally, the two ponies were happy and always would be.
This story is for anyone who feels lonely or scared. Your love will come! Don’t give up and don’t be ashamed of who you are or who you want to be!
