Equestria was once a land of peace and harmony, filled with colorful and happy ponies. Ruled and watched over night and day by the sister, alicorn princesses, Celestia and Luna. However, these last couple of decades have not been so peaceful. Twenty-two years ago, the peaceful era that had lasted a millennia was shattered by the return of an evil tyrant, King Sombra. Using dark magics that were once thought buried forever, he raised a legion of shadow warriors to wage war against those who had banished and imprisoned him in the darkness of the arctic north.
