//-------------------------------------------------------// Tipping the Scales -by DamnToasty- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Impact //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Impact Time: 8:00 P.M. Location: Canterlot Castle The radiant princess of the Sun slowly made her way out onto the balcony of her royal bedchambers. The day had come to a close, and it was time for Celestia to perform her long practiced duty of setting the sun. Taking a deep breath the Alicorn looked into the pink hued sky, becoming lost in its mesmerizing beauty. Looking over to her left she was greeted by the sight of her sister, Princess Luna. The night goddess was also looking towards Celestia as they shared a heartfelt smile. Looking back towards the sky Celestia gracefully shut her eyes, concentrating on the task ahead. Celestia’s horn began to produce a great gold aura, lighting the balcony in a bright pool of luminescence. She held the spell for no more than ten seconds before opening her eyes once more. The pink hue had been replaced by a tranquil canvas of stars, all laid upon a violet sky. In the distance, the Moon hung proudly in its orbit, illuminating the world below with a faint glow. Celestia after admiring the scenery turned to see Luna had joined her on the terrace. She walked up to her sister and joined the sibling in a short embrace before facing her to speak. “I must compliment you Luna. Your night is as beautiful as ever,” Celestia said appraisingly. “Thank you sister for your kind words, they do truly mean a lot,” Luna responded. “Well, I always give credit where it’s due.” “I thank you again, Tia.” “Well I suppose I should retire to my chambers. This day has been rather taxing has it not?” “Yes, I did not think I would be able to make it through our appointment with the griffon hierarchs.” “They certainly are a stubborn bunch.” The two shared a short laugh before composing themselves. “Well goodnight to you, sister, I hope you sleep well.” “Goodnight, Luna,” Celestia said as she made her way back into her bedchambers. “Goodnight, Celestia,” Luna replied as she pounced up and glided back to her own chambers. Landing with a soft thud the night princess slowly made her way inside. “Hmm, I wonder what there is to do. Night court isn’t meeting this evening, so there’s nothing there. I guess I could pick up on my history readings, no that’s a tad too dull. Hmm…” Luna paced in her room as she pondered for a way to entertain herself. After a few brief moments passed her telescope had caught her eye. Walking over to it she shortly examined it, making sure everything was properly calibrated. “Yes, it has been quite a while since I have checked my star charts.” Luna made her way over to a shelf in the corner grabbing what appeared to be a large tome with a picture of a star cluster embroidered on the cover. Trotting back over to the telescope she had laid the book on a short stool next to her. Concentrating her magic Luna opened that chart book, rapidly flipping pages while attempting to find her desired section. “Ah, here we are. Quadrant Beta Seven, let’s have a look shall we?” Luna leaned into the viewing end of the telescope. Her vision was suddenly filled with a magnified night sky. Periodically looking from her charts to the telescope she checked to make sure everything was mapped and labeled accurately. “Hmm yes that seems right. Yes…yes well everything seem to be in proper-” Luna had lost her train of thought as she noticed a small light building in her vision. “Well, that is rather odd…” The light had begun to intensify as the anomaly grew in size. “What in the name of the Moon is that thing?” Luna mused to herself while continuing to examine the mysterious object. Suddenly the room began to lightly vibrate, shaking some of the objects off their shelves. Luna looked around worriedly as the chamber continued to move around her. Looking back to the telescope the princess had to pull away. The light had now completely engulfed the lens. Nodding upward, Luna could now see a faint glow outside her balcony window. Curiosity got the best of her as she swiftly exited out onto the platform. She looked from side to side before facing upward. Luna froze at the sight before her. Up in her once calm night sky hung a massive orb, evidently hurdling towards her. “By the stars, I must retrieve Celestia!” But before Luna could take off a deafening boom had shook the whole of the castle’s structure. The object had impacted and tore right through Canterlot’s protective barrier. The magical bubble shattered and faded away, the shards feel to the streets. The Alicorn watched as the meteorite sailed passed her and collided with Canterlot Mountain. The impact emitted a sound of shattering rock as it plowed into the mountainside. A massive could of dust was all that could be seen at the site of the impact. Not more than a moment later a loud siren sounded throughout the city. Looking down Luna saw that the courtyard had been quickly occupied by a mass exodus of both day and night guards. Pegasi began taking flight toward the crash site while unicorns and earth ponies made their way through the castle gates. Finally regaining her thoughts in the madness Luna made a dash in the air to her sister’s tower. Lading on the balcony Luna turned to see Celestia already dressing in her regalia. When Celestia gained notice of Luna she began to speak. “Luna, did you see what happened?” Luna only nodded in the affirmative. “Then lead the way, we need to make our way to the mountain and investigate this at once.” “Shouldn’t we address the city first? We don’t want a panic on our hooves.” “I have already dispatched guards to handle the civilian populace. It is already taken care of.” Luna nodded once more before turning and walking back out to the balcony awaiting her sister. Celestia now fully dressed joined her sister outside. They both nodded to each other before flapping their wings hard launching themselves off the tower, and both began to head towards the mountain. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Change of Plans //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Change of Plans Location: Fairfield, CT, 56 Old Elm Rd. Time: 10:55 Night loomed over the tranquil suburb town of Fairfield, Connecticut. Cars lined the streets signifying the many men and women returning home from their day's ventures. Aaron Young was sitting in the basement of his home with his most trusted friend Conner Abrahams. The two sat in complete darkness, save for the towering LED screen in front of him, and the slight moonlight seeping in through the windows. Both had their eyes locked on the screen, controllers glued to their palms. They remained focused until a deep voice boomed from the speakers. “GAME OVER!” the speakers blared. Conner groaned as he tossed the controller to the opposite side of the couch he was sitting on. “Ha, what’s the count now? I think that makes about… twelve matches for me, and oh… a big fat pile of zip, zero, and or nada for  you, my good sir,” Aaron said with a smirk. “The only reason you keep on winning is because you hog ALL the OP weapons! I swear to god if you would just man up and face me in a real match you wouldn’t be the one laughing,” Conner retorted sporting a look of disapproval. “Ah, quit being a baby. You just can’t handle my level of awesomeness, so you look for excuses to avoid facing the truth of how much you suck.” Conner continued to sit there fuming. “Asshole…” “Douchebag…” “Man-whore…” “Hey! It was only a kiss, and I was REALLY hammered!” Aaron said still sporting the same cocky smile getting a light chuckle from Conner. Their moment was interrupted however by the sound of a phone ringing of to their right. “Man it’s fucking eleven o' clock at night, who the hell is calling?” Aaron said, obviously annoyed. “Maybe it's your parents? They did say they would call when they got off the plane, and isn't it about when they said they’d be scheduled to land,” Conner suggested. “Nah, they called while you were in the can,” Aaron replied as he walked over to the phone. “Oh… then who is it?” “One second… oh Jesus Christ, her again!” Aaron said angrily. “Who are you talking about?” Conner asked as he walked over to his side looking down at the caller ID. “Oh… man that’s like the third time tonight.” “I know, man I broke up with her two weeks ago. Can’t she take a fucking hint I don’t want to be with her!?” Aaron shouted. “Yea man, this is starting to get really weird. I mean it was understandable at first, but now…” Conner trailed off as he grimaced. “Yea dude. I swear I’m going to look out my window one night and see her digging though the trash cans.” Aaron and his friend laughed before Conner sighed. “Dude, I'm no professional or anything, but I think it would be a good idea to, I don’t know, talk with her maybe?” Aaron showed a look of surprise before speaking. “Conner, there’s a reason I stay away from that bitch, she’s fucking psycho! You remember why she and I broke up, don’t you?” Conner sighed again. “Yes, yes I do. Although man, if we don’t do something about this she’s not gonna stop anytime soon,” Conner said plainly. Aaron looked as if he was going to counter act, but his view slowly drifted down to the floor. “Yea… you’re right. This really needs to stop. I’ll stop by her locker during free on Monday and talk to her, I guess.” Aaron said with a sigh. Conner picked up his head and smiled placing a hand on his best friend’s shoulder, Aaron looked up at this. “I’m proud a you bro. I know it will be hard but… it’s for the best.” Aaron shared the smile and nodded. “Yea…” Conner removed his hand from Aaron's shoulder while his eyes drifted over to the clock which now read eleven thirty. “Well dude, I gotta go. The old man’s got me covering my brother’s shift at the restaurant tomorrow. I need to get as much rest as I can.” “Sure bro.” They both smiled at each other once more before Conner turned and jogged up the stairs. “See ya,” Conner said as he exited the basement. Aaron made his way over to the couch as he grabbed the remote shutting off the TV. He tossed the remote back before sitting up. “Well, I don’t really feel that tired, but I’m not really in the mood for TV.” Aaron said as he sat. Aaron’s gaze then turned to the window showing a view of the night sky. This sight always calmed David, though he was not exactly sure why. “Huh, maybe a little midnight stroll will help a tad?” Aaron stood fully erect then made his way up the stairs. Closing the basement door behind him he walked slowly over to the mud room in the front of the house. Looking down he saw his pair of dark tan Timberland boots. Aaron put on the pair of heavy duty boots over his denim jeans, tying them both as tight as he could get them. Standing back up and reaching over, Aaron grabbed his North Face jacket slinging it over both arms and fastening the zipper. Checking his pockets he found he had both his new I Phone plus a pair of beats ear buds, and his house keys. Satisfied with himself he turned and faced the door. Un-doing the lock Aaron steeped outside into the cool crisp night.  Aaron took a deep breath as he locked the door behind him, and was on his way. Walking down the empty sidewalk only barley lit up by the dim street lights, Aaron pulled out his IPod turning it on and going to his ITunes folder. Resting the device in his hand he reached in his pocket grabbing the ear buds and bringing them to his face. Aaron placed both the headphones securely in his ears as a familiar toon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0YxeTjFn70) began to play… “Ah…” Aaron sighed happily as he continued his stroll down the sidewalk. Aaron began to sing softly aloud when the lyrics started to play Nature nurture heaven and home, sum of all and by them driven, to conquer every mountain shown, but I've never crossed the river... Brave the forest, brave the stone, brave the icy winds and fire, braved and beat them on my own, yet I'm helpless by the river... Angel, angel what have I done, I face the quakes, the wind, the fire, I've conquered country, crown, and throne, why can't I cross this river? Angel, angel what have I done, face the quakes, the wind, the fire, I've conquered country, crown, and throne, why can't I cross this river? Pay no mind to the battles you've won, it'll take a lot more than rage and muscle, open your heart and hands my son, or you'll never make it over the river... It'll take a lot more than words and guns, a whole lot more than riches and muscle, the hands of many must join as one, and together we'll cross the river... It'll take a lot more than words and guns, a whole lot more than riches and muscle, The hands of many must join as one, and together we'll cross the river... A cold breeze blew passed Aaron as the song completed. He continued to walk down his original path when another breeze blew up against him, but something stopped him dead in his tracks. “You…” A mysterious voice whispered into Aaron’s ear. Aaron quickly grasped and pulled the ear buds out from his head curiously looking around. He searched for several moments before turning back to his phone, but as he reached up to his head another breeze, stronger this time, caused Aaron to stumble back a moment before the voice spoke again. “You…you will do…nicely…” The voice said slowly slipping into a slightly more sinister tone. “Where are you, show yourself!” Aaron demanded, but as he took his first step forward he was met with an onslaught of pressure against him. He felt like he was in his own personal wind tunnel. The punch carried enough force to knock Aaron on his ass easily. He reached his arm up to check his head. Seeing he was fine he went on to get up however to find… he couldn’t. Aaron tried once more with the same failure. Looking down Aaron was shocked by what he saw. His right hand was completely sucked into the ground. Aaron panicked looking around in horror as his entire body slowly sunk into the sidewalk. Flailing only seemed to quicken the process as only his head now remained above the surface. Aaron started to scream only to have his voice muffled when he was completely engulfed by the concrete. A moment later all the wind ceased, and the sidewalk returned to its normal state, as if nothing had ever happened. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Pain and Then Hapiness //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Pain and Then Hapiness Location: Unknown Time: Unknown I awake in shock taking in as much air as my lungs can hold. I open my eyes which dart in every direction trying to see where I am, but I see… nothing. Darkness surrounds me, shrouds me. I slowly begin to calm down taking shorter, softer breaths. Taking one last lung full of air I exhale and look down. I decide to try and stand up, and luckily my body complies. When I stand and search around, I feel as if I am floating. No reference point to go by just… nothingness. “Am…am I dead?” My heart sinks at the idea. Both arms slouch at their sides as my eyes once again drift downward. I remain like this for several moments before picking back up. “So… if I am dead. What is this place? Definitely no heaven, maybe hell, but I have never done anything as bad as to get stuck there. Wait, is this limbo? Well if it is I guess that means I have to wait here… or something.”  I sigh as I continue to wander around the mysterious new realm. “You…” I freeze. It was him, the same voice I heard before… before… Anger begins to overwhelm me as I clench and grind my teeth. Both eyes narrow, a look of pure hate consuming them. The voice chuckles, this puts me over the edge. “WHO THE FUCK, ARE YOU!” I yell as loud and menacing as I can still fuming with anger. “WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT, WHY AM I HERE!” I yell once more. My feud is interrupted as I catch a small glint out of the corner of my eye. Turning, I am now face to face with some… thing. Floating there right in front of me is some sort of glowing orb. The orb is bright white, almost too bright to look at. My hate is now completely replaced by curiosity, and I do possibly the most stupid thing. I touch the orb. The bright white that once shone is now a sinister blood red. I back up in shock, but it is too late. The red orb begins to expand dramatically, consuming everything in its path. I stare shocked for a few moments before coming back to reality. “OH SHIT!” I turn tail and run as fast as I can in the opposite direction. Looking back I see the orb easily catching up. The light intensifies as it nears, blinding me. I grab my eyes as I turn back slowing me down. That’s when I felt it. It was like I was on fire, except I received no burns… just the pain. Once again I find myself screaming for my life to no avail as the world around me breaks down. The pain still courses as I am pulled into the red light. Vision fading… I drift off into a pain induced sleep. Location: Canterlot Mountain, Crash Site Time: 8:45 “Ugh…god…dammit where the fuck am I now!” I yell in anger as I slowly awake to my new surroundings. I find I am lying down in what seems like some form of cave. I try to get up, but everything in my body suddenly aches. “Jesus… I feel like I was run through a wall,” I say through clenched teeth. Remaining in my prone position I bob my head back to be greeted by a stone surface behind me. At the end of the ‘cave’ in the center was en embedded outline of a figure, a figure that looked much like… “Maybe… I’m not that far off. This isn’t a cave… it’s a fucking crater.” The pain almost completely dispelled I begin to stand up. I shake my head side to side only to see large piles of dust fall from my hair. “Damn… I need a shower.” Looking over myself I see I am a complete mess of dirt and rubble. That's when I come to a realization. “SHIT MY PHONE!” I quickly reach into my pocket and feel around for the device. As my hand was met with the familiar rectangular form I swiftly pull it out. There was not a single scratch.  “Damn, I knew these things were supposed to be tough but… damn.” Putting the phone back into my pocket I take a deep breath and move my neck sharply over to the right emitting a loud series of pops from the bones. “Ahhh… that is much better.” I then move my head in a circular motion emitting several other small pops before returning my skull to its natural position. After a brief roll of my shoulders I clap my hands together. “Alright... now to find out where the hell I am,” I declare. Slowly walking forward I am halted by the sound of hushed voices coming from the outside. “Hey, did you hear that,” One questioning voice whispers. “Yea, it sounded like… talking,” Another responded. “You think something’s up there captain,” The voice from prior asks. “Well if there is somepony in there it has a lot to explain,” A gruff voice answered. At this point only one thought was going through my mind. HOLY FUCK, PEOPLE! I bolt for the exit, a feeling of happiness slowly forming. Finally I can find out what the fuck is going on, I can go home, take a shower, and oh my WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING! I stop dead in my tracks as the alien form pops over the edge. It looks like a… horse, what the fuck. Propped over the edge of the cave was what looked like some kind of white horse, thing. It was completely dressed from head to…hoof, in gilded armor with a small turquoise plume branching from its helmet. On both its sides is had two wings fully extended and in motion causing the creature to hover in place. HOLY SHIT IS THAT A PEGASUS. Okay… talking horse Pegasus thing, my mind is officially fucked. I stare shocked at the being before me as it does the same. When the pegasus locked eyes with me they went as large as saucers. He continued to hover in place too shocked to move. “Private! What the hell are you doing, get inside before I make you,” The same gruff voice from before snaps the Private back into reality. “Captain there is something in here,” The private yells still wide eyed. “Move out of the way I'm going in!” Another set of hooves pop up over the lip as the Private drifts lazily over to the side going back to staring at me. The new form continues to pull itself up and tumbles inside. Before me was a buff grey pony wearing similar armor to the soldier but with a clear blue stripe painted along the outline of the chest piece. The stallion slowly picks itself up still having its eyes closed. “Alright, now private, what in Tartarus was it you were rambling on about-” The captain cuts himself short as he looks directly at me. Instead of an expression of shock like the previous guard this one forms a look of anger and determination on his face. Before I can say anything he yells in a booming voice.“You are hereby under arrest for attacking the Equestrian capitol of Canterlot. If you refuse to comply, we are authorized to use force!” Well I'm boned… //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Battle Royale //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Battle Royale Location: Canterlot Mountain, Crash Site Time: 9:05 P.M. I stare blankly at the fuming pegasus trying to understand him. What does he mean I attacked a city? I don’t even remember how the fuck I got here. I take a deep breath before speaking. “Okay listen mutant... pony...  thing. I have no idea where the hell I am or how the hell I got here, but I didn’t attack any city,” I say commandingly. “Then how do explain the shattered barrier and twenty meter crater in Canterlot Mountain huh,” The captain said obviously annoyed. “I have no fucking idea. I just woke up like three minutes ago.” I say while crossing my arms. “Listen here creature; I don’t care if you were only born three minutes ago! You have committed a crime against the crown and WILL be taken into custody,” The captain said emphasizing the word will. “Is that so…” I say with a smug look on my face. The captain didn’t even respond before pouncing and bolting right for me. Idiot… let's put those five years of martial arts classes to the test, I thought as the Captain closed the gap. Right before the earth pony could make his move I side stepped to the right. As he past I wound my arm back and punched into his side with all my strength. The stallion was sent flying into the crater wall before colliding with an audible crunch of his armor. The body fell limp to the ground facing away from me. Holy shit is he dead?! A low raspy breath answered my thought. Okay well at least he isn’t dead, but I mean HOLY SHIT since when can I do that. I took that guy out with one punch WHILE he was wearing armor. A malicious smile formed on my face. My thoughts were cut short by a voice calling from the outside. “Sir…sir are you okay?” No response. “Sir we heard some noises what happened?” No response. After several moments a head popped up from the ridge. A white stallion wearing the familiar gold plated armor peeked into the cave. I looked frantically around for somewhere to hide and avoid being seen, but it was too late. The guards eyes met with the sight of me standing next to the unconscious form of their captain, both eyes shot wide open. “CAPTAIN DOWN, WE GOT A CAPTAIN DOWN! HOSTILE IN THE CAVE LET’S TAKE HIM!” The soldier yelled. “Oh shit,” I mumbled to myself. Before I could make a move three gold plated pegasi had flown into my cave, all wearing angry scowls. “Uhhh…so…there wouldn’t happen to be any chance I could just be let off with a warning?” The stallions let out a war cry as they charged. “Didn’t think so…” I charged into the group of ponies. One sped away from the rest attempting to tackle me. This again…really... I stopped for a moment awaiting the guard. A second later I bent down and jumped into the air clearing the berserk pegasus. When it passed under me I dropped my boot down on his skull sending him plummeting into the ground. “Drop kick bitch, who’s next,” I asked smirking. I was answered by two ponies yelling as they galloped towards me. When the first one approached he quickly turned around and attempted to buck me in the stomach. Ducking back i dodged by no more than an inch. Seeing my opportunity, I grabbed both legs getting a yelp of surprise from the pony. I then flung him upward slamming him into the roof of the cave. He then fell to the ground unconscious. Before I could ready myself I felt something collide with my side causing me to tumble down. Looking up, I saw the second pegasus had rammed its head into my ribs. As i started to get up he charged. When the stallion reached me he lifted his fore-hooves up readying his attack while also leaving himself open. He received a powerful punch to the face, sending him off to the side. Allowing myself the time, I got back on my feet. The pegasus shakily stood before shrugging off the attack. He huffed, two jets of steam trailed from his nostrils. I grinned at his anger; he snarled. While he charged me I took advantage of his blind rage, stepping to the right. Missing me completely the guard stopped before he collided with the wall. Turning around for another attempt he was met with a boot to the face rendering him immobile. I stepped away huffing in exhaustion from the ordeal. “Fuck…da police,” I said as I tuned and walked towards the exit of the cave. I smiled as I neared the end. Then suddenly, a bright white flash blinded me, causing me to put my arms up over my eyes. A moment later the light receded. I lowered my arms from my face blinking. Then I saw them, standing in front of me stood the two regal Alicorns. “Guards, what progress have you made so far-” The White one cut herself short as she saw the numerous unconscious bodies of the guards around her. Both creatures gaped at the sight, slowly looking over each body. All eyes then turned to me. Their look of shock then turned to one of pure rage. “Uhhh… hi…”  I sheepishly smiled as I gave an awkward wave. They both maintained their angered expression. I was about to speak again, but I felt something… breathing on my neck. Oh no...,I thought as I turned around. All I saw was a hoof hurtling towards my face. Before I had time to respond the hoof made contact. I was out like a light. Location: Unknown Time: Unknown “Ugh…Shiiiiiiiiiiiiit, This place again!” I yell as I awake to the black void that now surrounded my hunched over body. I stand up, hearing several bones pop as I erect my spine. My hands rise up to rub my face, but when the fingers make contact a stinging pain was sent through my skull. “Ugh GOD DAMMIT THAT HURTS!” Slamming my fist back down I continue to wrinkle my face in pain. When I felt the stinging begin to fade away I open my eyes and stand. “Okay this is getting pretty old.” “I agree,” A voice whispers from behind. My muscles lock and fists tighten as a familiar sense of anger begins to resurface. “In light of that marvelous revelation, and recent events, allow me to introduce myself… I am Discord, spirit of Chaos!” I turn around slowly, but as my eyes met the misshapen and deformed creature I gaped. “Uhhhhhh…” That was the only sound that escaped my shivering body. I flinched when Discord reached out to my face, but simply grabbed my jaw and pushed it back into its proper angle. “Well, with that out of the way… I believe it is time to reveal your true purpose here in Equestria, Aaron Young.” //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: Magic 101 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: Magic 101 Location: Unknown Time: Unknown I remained still, standing in place as my eyes darted all over the new figure that had just recently appeared before me. It stood at about eight feet, forcing me to bob my head back to catch him in full view. When my eyes met his face a chill was sent down my spine. He was wearing this toothy grin on his muzzle that slightly disturbed me. When I finally collected myself I was about to speak, but I was interrupted by Discord before I could get a word out. “Now I know you probably have some questions Aaron, but please wait until I finish my explanation.” I merely nodded my head causing the chimera’s grin to grow wider before he continued his speech. “Excellent! Now, as I said my name is Discord, Spirit of Chaos, and I have had my eye on you and your world, Aaron, for quite some time.” Discord walked up to my right placing a lion paw on my left shoulder before he continued walking forward with me at his side. “You see, your world is very different from the one you now find yourself on Aaron. Now I mean besides the obvious ‘talking ponies’ thing, there is something else, something much bigger.” With a snap of his talons two leopard skin sofas appeared out of nowhere directly in front of us. I jumped back in surprise as Discord chuckled and laid down stretching in one of the sofas. I just stood there, still surprised by the sudden appearance of the two furniture pieces. Discord noticed this and motioned me to take a seat on the other. I hesitantly made my way over to the couch sitting down. “Now that we’re more comfortable let’s get into the more important matters. Aaron, are you familiar with the term magic.” I was confused but nodded anyway. “Good, now as I understand your kind is unable to channel said magic correct?” Alright, I was really confused now but once again nodded my head. “Hmm, I expected as much.” Discord took a deep breath before he spoke once more. “Now, I don’t have the time for a long winded explanation nor do I desire to so… I am just going to be blunt. Magic is real.” I merely stared blankly at his serious gaze before… “BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA...” I burst out laughing right then. Magic, is this guy for real? Who does he think I am some little kid? Well… it would kind of explain the couches… Shut up brain- wait… you might have a point there. However I am not going to be convinced that easily, but it is now open to the realm of possibility. I stopped my laughing fit and regained my composure, still being met by his solid expression. “Sorry about that, it’s just… that’s a bit hard to believe.” “Yes, I see how that could come off as some kind of joke to a person of your origins. Although I can assure you I was not laying, in fact I can give a basic example right now.” This should be interesting… I gave a nod of approval. “Very well…” With a snap of his talons a bright flash emanated from his hand causing me to shut my eyes. When I reopened them I looked around. Everything seemed… the same. “I don’t get it. What happ*RIBBET*…” What, the fuck. I averted my gaze down and blanched at what I saw. My hands had been replaced by… flippers. I was now seated on my haunches and was considerably… smaller. I was a mother fucking frog. Then the sound of laughter burst out from behind. Jumping around, I was met with the sight of Discord rolling on the ground laughing heartily. “You *pant* should see the *pant* look on your *pant* face! BWAHAHAHAHAHA…” “Change…me…back,” I said venom dripping from my voice. Discord only continued to laugh. “I said CHANGE ME BACK!” This caused discord to quiet down. He pulled himself up wiping a tear from his eye. “Oh alright yah killjoy…” With another snap of his talons I was back to my former self. I gave a sigh of relief before turning to Discord with a death glare. “Convinced...” He asked with a grin. “Never…again…” “I will take that as a yes.” Discord took back his place on the sofa as he continued. “As you can see now, magic is very real. The little trick I just showed you was a prime example of Chaos magic.” Wait, he said chaos magic. Are there different types? “Are there more than one form of magic?” “Ah, very observant, yes Chaos magic is one of four main types of magic. These are Chaos, as you just saw, Celestial magic, Base magic, and Elemental magic. Each of these magic types serves a unique purpose. First let me explain Elemental magic. The purpose of this form of magic is the ability to manipulate your respective element, if you are wondering how this is determined it is commonly chosen through the natural habitat of the creature the ability is given to. So, I can imagine humans would most likely be earth. The names of these magic users are the Elementals. These beings can be any species, but they are extremely rare. The last one was born I think over three-thousand years ago." Three-thousand years *whistle* "Yes, I know it is quite rare. Although, the elemental magic is not just limited to physical elements, but can harness mental ones as well." "Like what?" "Well an example I guess would be personality traits. You know things like honesty, generosity, kindness, etc." "Huh, when was the last one of those created?" "Actually, the last ones were formed just two years ago. The six Elements of Harmony." "Wait, what are the Elements of-" I began to speak before being interrupted by Discord. "That, is not something i would like to talk about right now. A bit of a touchy subject matter for me." "Oh... okay." "Yes well moving on, let's discuss Celestial magic. Now this energy is apparently not present in your home dimension. However in this universe it is very much existent, the purpose of this magical energy is to achieve the movement of the celestial bodies. Such as stars, planets, galaxies, etc. Your universe is in no need of this energy for these movements are natural on your world. I can’t say the same of this dimension. Here the sun and moon along with countless other star systems are moved with the assistance of  beings locally known as the Alicorns. Currently three have taken residence on the planet, but only two are capable of manipulating this magical field. Next is Base magic. Base magic is basically the most ever-present form of magic. This energy flows through almost all dimensions, including yours. Although it is not that large a presence in yours unlike in this universe, base magic in this universe is not only present but has literally infused its energy signature into all beings residing in this plane. Although that does not mean all have the ability to manipulate it. Sure they all have some innate abilities, but to cast things such as spells and enchantments you require a conduit. An example of a conduit would be a unicorn’s horn, you could relate it to, hmm let me think of something you can relate it to. Hmmm, OH I got it. I guess you could relate it to a satellite. A conduit, like an satellite, can both receive and send out signals. Although in this case the signals they are sending out are spells. There is no real purpose for this form of magic other many domestic and practical uses, but environments where this energy is a large presence can have some interesting qualities. Last and certainly not least, is Chaos magic. Chaos magic has a fairly simple however extremely important cause. Its purpose is to provide balance in the universe between chaos and harmony. If the scales were to slip either way, catastrophe would ensue! Chaos magic is almost like base magic, it is ever present in all planes but some more than others. However unlike base magic, Chaos magic can only be naturally manipulated by a single known creature, instead of many. Give you three guesses which one it is.” “You, I would suppose.” “DING, DING, DING WE HAVE A WINNER! Ahem, yes you would be correct. I am a member of a very rare species known as the draconequus. As far as I know, I am the last living member left of my race.” “Im so sorry,” I say with sympathy evident in my voice. “Bah, don’t be. No need to fuss about it now that I have you.” “What… what do you mean?” I am looking up at Discord as he wears his signature grin. He then proceeds to throw his arms up into the air dramatically as he shouts… “Aaron Young, I have chosen you to take under my wing as my apprentice, and learn the ways of Chaos magic!” //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: I Need an Attorney //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: I Need an Attorney Tipping the Scales Chapter 5: I Need an Attorney Written and Edited by RobertBel98 Time: Unknown Location: Unknown “Wait, what?” I had heard what Discord had said clear as day, but my mind was at a loss on how it should process the situation. The chaos spirit had ceased his little ‘celebration’ and was now looking down upon me with a sinister grin. Taking a step towards me Discord places his paw upon my still confused form, slightly nudging me on. I was now walking with Discord as he continued his explanation. “I can understand why you would be so confused, but I have been doing all of the explaining lately let’s hear it from you.” I stared blankly a moment at him before getting refocused. I then formulated a response. “You said that only you can perform chaos magic. What makes you think I can do it? I mean, I’m just some random guy, I’m not fucking Harry Potter!” “Who is ‘Harry Potter’?” Discord asks not understanding the reference. “Not important, but can you please tell me how this works, the whole me doing chaos magic thing?” Discord’s grin grows wide as I am shoved forward. For a moment I feel as if I am falling before the sensation is halted by me crashing into something, a couch to be precise. After regaining my composure I get into a sitting position looking back up. In front of me Discord was dressed in some form of gown, you know those ones you see on all those historical scholars, and had conjured a chalk board which was floating in mid-air next to him. The draconequus picked up a piece of chalk from the base and had begun scribbling random illustrations at rapid speeds on the board. After that little show was completed a small cloud of dust created by the chalk remained. Once the smoke had dissipated, the board could now be seen clearly. Discord coughs a bit grabbing my attention. Looking to him, he nods in a formal way before pointing to an illustration of a human on the surface. “This here is a human, you. Humans live in an environment where they have no natural connection to magic. Hence, they cannot manipulate the fields. Although that does not mean that the magical fields cannot affect the world around them.” Discord then points to a graphic resembling a Yin Yang symbol. “This is an image I found while fishing around in your mind. It represents order and chaos, balance. Now it is impossible for a dimension to ever be in perfect balance. The scale is at a constant flux throughout the cosmos, but, there are some places that have maintained dominant energies. They are called Constant Energy Pockets, and guess what your little planet landed in.” I piece together his meaning. Before Discord could continue I interrupt. “Wait, you mean to tell me that my world is in some kind of energetic field that dictates how everything on the planet works?” I ask. “Exactly actually, you’re planet is placed right smack dab in the middle of a chaotic pocket.” I interrupt again. “Wait, since I know this question will come up eventually, why me. Surely there are some other chaotic energy pockets in other parts of the multiverse or even this universe, right? Anyway, why choose a species that can’t use magic in the first place. I mean, did you even plan this through?” Discord casts an angered look. “Of course I thought this through, now if you will let me explain.” I nod sheepishly. “Great, now to answer you’re first question. Yes, there are in fact many chaotic pockets in this universe, and also other realms. However, you would be hard pressed to find any sentient creatures living in one.” “Why?” “The simplest answer, they can’t handle it, the pure chaos around them, and end up destroying themselves.” My face morphs into a somber expression while I imagine the fate those many races must have experienced. Seeing this Discord puts his talon on my shoulder giving a reassuring smile. “You, you’re race, you’re species, it lives. You have endured things, horrible things that inhabitants on worlds like these could never imagine. Natural disasters, cosmic threats, disease, war… Although you kept on fighting, through all the pain you have prevailed. That is why I chose you Aaron, you can handle the chaos, you all survived.” I was astonished by the power Discord put behind those words, the pride. Did we really have it that bad compared to here? Even though I now know why I was chosen, I still need one more question answered. “Alright, that answers why the humans, but still, we can’t perform magic let alone chaos magic. How do you get around that?” Discord snaps his talons as all the summoned items including his outfit disappear. The vacation of the couch causes me to fall right on my ass. Giving an annoyed look at Discord he only responds with an amused expression. “Aaron, I never said that you couldn’t use magic.” Wait, huh? “However, due to lack of a natural connection in your realm the ability to control it is locked away. It is simply a matter of picking the locks.” “How do we plan on doing this?” “The plan is simple, since I can only appear to you while you are in an unconscious state we will work while you sleep. To unlock your ability to manipulate the magical fields we first need to establish a proper connection. This is the easy part. All you need to do is stay in this realm. This world’s magic connects with all living things, unlike you’re world. The body will naturally absorb the energy around it and form those connections with your mind. Once we have a proper flow, then we will train on how to control it.” I had now gotten up and dusted myself off while listening to Discord’s plan. Looking back to him I nod once more. “Okay, I guess that’s fine.” I walk back to Discord’s side as a realization comes to me, but before I can voice my thought a surprised look falls upon Discord’s face. “What, what is it?” “It seems you are waking up.” “Wait, now, but I don’t feel any diff-” I cut myself off as I apperceived a wave of cold air blow throughout my body. For some reason I started feeling… lighter. That’s when I looked down. “Where are my fucking legs!?” I yell. “Don’t worry that’s normal.” Discord assured me as I continued to fade. “Alright, quickly, do not tell anyone and I mean anyone of my presence here. That would mean bad news for both you and me. I will contact you next time you fall asleep. Be prepared!” Shortly after he completed his message my body starts to fade at a faster rate. Both my arms and torso had now been submerged into the void. Beginning to panic as the borderline reached my neck, I clamp my eyes shut. Moments later a loud snap and crackle resonates in my ears as I am thrust back into the world of the living. Time 5:00 A.M. Location: Canterlot Dungeons “Uugh, w-what, where am I? I can’t see.” I speak to no one. Wiping the haze from my eyes I observe my new surroundings. Below me was a smooth stone floor outlined by several cracks in the rock. Surrounding me were four symmetrical brick walls. Above, a ceiling perfectly resembling the plane below rested. It reminded me of some kind of medieval dungeon. The cell was cast in a gloomy grey undertone, the only deviation from this being the single torch light hanging directly in front of me. The dim lit flame only illuminated a small portion of the area, but was able to give me sight of an iron door sealed shut. In the center of this door there was a small slot, most likely used for food and communication. Resting in my corner I regain my bearings and begin to think. Shit, this is really fucked up. I mean me, becoming a fucking chaos mage. I don’t know crap about any of this. It is like someone dropped my ass in a World of Warcraft game. I continued to sit idly before a thought comes to mind. As I reach down into my pockets I fish around for a few seconds, but come back with nothing in hand. Man, oh well, I guess they were smart enough to search me. I mean I did beat the crap out of a bunch of their guards then… oh fuck me. Why was I so stupid?! I basically assaulted their police force. Let’s hope I can bullshit my way out of this one. Maybe I should try and get someone’s attention. Looking back to the door I take a deep breath before yelling as loud as I can. “Hey, is anyone there?! I would like to talk with someone, a lawyer preferably, if you have those.” I continue to lay there in the darkness waiting. Suddenly, the door emits a muffled screech before the slot in the center opens. Behind it were two glaring blue eyes. They look me over once before receding, the slot closes, sounds of trotting follows, getting quitter and quitter as the guard walks away from my cell. Now the waiting game…I wonder how long- before I could finish that thought the sound of a second pair of hooves grab my attention. As the noise increases I hastily get myself up from the floor dusting my clothes off. Standing there I hold my position. Then, the familiar discordant bellow emits from the door frame. This time the clamor was followed by a sliding sound, most likely the lock. Here we go... As the passage slowly folds inward light floods into the space causing me to lock my eyelids shut. Standing there bewildered I hear the presence enter the room then stop a few feet in front of me. “Guard, head back outside and shut the door please.” A regal voice states in a feminine tone. “Princess, are you sure I should leave you alone with this…thing?” Oh buddy you’re asking for it. “I am more than capable of handling myself soldier. Please, leave us.” Silence ensues for a few instants, but the reluctant soldier eventually follows his order and leaves the room. Once the light is covered I flutter my eyes open to see my new visitor. In front of me stood a large blue mare, her eyes coming up to about my chest. She had both wings and a horn, and looked very familiar. Oh no… She looks at me with a stern assertion. “Hello, creature, I am Princess Luna, and you have a lot of explaining to do.”
