Guy's NightJust Another Day

It was another beautiful day in Ponyville today. Princess Celestia really did know how to raise the sun. No wonder she had the sun as her cutie mark. The ponies who knew this the most were the stallions of Ponyville. Being in a town mostly populated by mares, they all tended to get up a little earlier than most ponies. Either to get a head start at work or to run errands, what ever the reason, they were up early.

Big Macintosh stirred from his sleep when he felt the rays of Celestia's sun through his window. He then raised himself u from his bed and rested his hooves on the floor. Once he was sure he was good and awake he put on his signature yoke. Big Mac then proceeded to head downstairs, get himself a few apples for breakfast, and get to work. It was his daily rutine after all. After eating a few apples he then got to work. Big Mac mainly handled the plowing, ran the stand in the town market, and the tougher jobs. Plowing the field wasn't the most ideal chore, but it had to be done. A few more hours of working, he went back inside to notice that his sisters and granny gotten up. As he entered he greeted his family that he loved dearly.

"Mornin' AJ."

"Mornin' Big Mac, you done with the fields already?"

"Eeyup, I'm fixn' to head into town and set up the stand."

"Alright then, I guess I'll start applebuckin', we should be done as soon as you get back."

"AJ."

"Don't you worry about me none big brother, I learned my lesson. Your friend Caramel should be comin' by to lend a hoof this time. You just worry about sellin' some apples to hungry ponies."

Caramel was up early today. He promised Applejack he would help out on the farm today while Big Mac runs the stand. After that he had to go help Pokey Pierce with something. Pokey seemed a little nervous about what ever he wanted help with, but Caramel shrugged it off. His roommate Lucky practically dragged himself down the stairs. Mornings were not Lucky's strong suit. Unlike Caramel's neat and groomed mane, Lucky's looked like he just now got up, even though it almost always looked like that. Lucky bore a striking resemblance to Time Turner as far as manes and tails went. The only difference in Turner and Lucky was coat colors and spence of humor.

"Caramel, why are you up so early? The sun has just now risen." Lucky said in between yawns.

"Just up early that's all. Hey, can you go help Pokey later today? I'm gonna be a bit buisy at Sweet Apple Acres."

"No I can't. I already promised Wildfire I would 'accompany' her to the spa today." Lucky said knowing his luck had run out.

"That doesn't sound so bad to me. At least you have a marefriend to go with. Speaking of Wildfire, where is she?"

"She's gonna make sure that Thunderlane and Written Script meet us there on time."

"Why would they be going to the spa?" Caramel asked oblivious to the point Lucky was trying to make.

"They have marefriends too, remember? Cloudchaser and Carrot Top."

"Alright, alright, I get your point. I guess I'll just have leave Sweet Apple Acres early to go help Pokey. Hey what time is it."

Lucky then looked out the window and at the position of the sun. "It's about eight fifteen, why?"

"Aw horse apples, I'm late, Iwas supossed to leave 30 minutes ago! Sorry Lucky, I got to go!"

After Caramel practically broke the door off of its hinges after running through it so fast, Lucky began to think. 'Why would Caramel want to spend as much time at Sweet Apple Acres as possible? And where in Equestria did he get 'horse apples' from?' After putting two and two together, Lucky hit himself upside the head with his own hoof. "I'm starting to be get as dumb as he is if I didn't catch on to something obvious as that."

Up in the city of Cloudsdale, many pegasi roamed the streets and called this place home. To an earth pony or a unicorn this place would seem uninhabitable without a cloud walking spell. The avian abilities the pegasus ponies possessed made living on clouds second nature. Orion had been living in Cloudsdale since he was just a colt and at night he would sneak out of bed just to look at the stars. He loved the stars. No wonder he had the constellation he was named after as his cutie mark. He could remember when he got his first telescope and chuckled at the memory. His day dream was soon cut short when had hit something and spun out.

"Could you please watch where your going next time?" Orion could have sworn that he heard that voice far to often when visiting a certain grey earth stallion.

"Wildfire?"

"Orion?"

"That's me. Let me guess your running late for something and it involves a party of more than three people and you wanna make sure that everypony is on time time?" Orion guessed.

"How did you....?"

"Make random guesses that turn out to be correct answers even before you could get a word in. Hanging around Lucky too much can do that to you." Orion explained.

"Very funny. Do you have any idea where Thunderlane is? He's almost late." Wildfire said.

"Aha! So I was right! Thunderlane is at his house probably sleeping in, again."

"Not if I can help it! Oh, and quit daydreaming about Flitter and pay attention to which way your flying instead." Wildfire teased.

"I wasn't daydreaming about Flitter again." Orion said while trying to hid his blush.

"Did I hear you say again? I can also tell your blushing, by the way."

"Just....go and get Thunderlane!" Orion shouted.

"Bet you didn't guess that one coming." Wildfire said as she flew away.

After making sure his blush was gone, Orion made his way to the Wonderbolts Derby. He always wanted to see the Wonderbolts live but was busy studying stars. He'd asked Rainbow Dash to save him a good seat in the stands. From what he learned about her in junior flight camp, she was a Wonderbolts fanatic. What better way to get a good seat.

"Hey Orion, over here!" Rainbow called as she waved to him.

While flying through the stands he noticed two other ponies with her. He could tell one of them was Fluttershy but the other had her head turned to where he couldn't quite see.

"Hey Orion, glad you could make it. You are a full grown stallion and you have never seen a Wonderbolts Derby before?"

"Nope." he replied.

Hearing the word 'nope' caught Fluttershy's attention and she started to worry. Rainbow noticed this.

"Hey Fluttershy, what's wrong?" Rainbow asked

"Oh, I'm so sorry Rainbow Dash, but I completely forgot that I was low on apples and I had planned on getting some today, but I can stay, if that's ok with you." she quietly replied.

"Aw don't worry about it, I'm pretty sure that won't be the only apple that your going to looking at."

"Yeah, Angel Bunny can be a bit of a picky eater." Fluttershy replied.

"That's not what I meant Fluttershy. As Rainbow leaned closer she whispered into Fluttershy's ear. "Big Mac's running the apple stand today."

"O-oh, oh my, um why would, um."

"It's ok Fluttershy, I'm just teasing. It's alright with me if you have to leave early. What about you Flitter?"

"F-F-Flitter....." At this point Orion had stopped listening to Rainbow and Fluttershy completely. 'Out of all the pegasi in Cloudsdale why did it have to be her? It just had to be her.'

"It's fine with me." Just as Flitter finished that sentence she turned around and noticed Orion's presance. That goofy look on his face couldn't help but make her smile and chuckle.

Apparently that goofy look on Orions face was enough for Rainbow to notice. "Hey guys, I'm gonna head on down to the snack stands. You to can stay here if you want. I've already seen these derbies plenty of times. If you need me I,ll be down in the VIP section." Rainbow said as she flew away.

From that point on Orion kept his gaze on the derby and away from Flitter. He knew he would start starring if he even glanced. Trying to start up a conversation, Orion did his best to think of something good to say, but all that came out was, "Great derby huh."

"Yeah, I guess it is a pretty good. I mean, look at all the ponies in the stands." Flitter said.

"That makes sense. I like how they make a left turn and then another, and then another, and then another." Orion replied wishing he hadn't. 'I feel like an idiot.' He thought.

"Hey, uh, where's Cloudchaser today.?" Orion asked trying to change the subject.

"She's going on another spa day with Wildfire and Carrot Top and their coltfriends."

'So that's why Wildfire was in such a hurry to get Thunderlane.' Orion thought to himself.

"Um, Orion. What are you looking at?"

Orion just now noticed that while he was piecing his meeting with Wildfire that he had been staring at Flitter the whole time. He'd been caught starring.

"Oh I was, uh, looking at the, er, the stars!" Orion managed to shout.

"The stars?" Flitter asked confused.

"Yeah the stars, aren't you beautiful, I mean, aren't they beautiful. An that reminds me, I need to get back to my house so I can, uh, study the constellations. Bye." Orion then wasted no time getting in the air and off to his house. He flew so fast that even the Wonderbolts picked up the pace on the track.

"But the stars only come out at night Orion. Orion!" Flitter shouted. He was long gone and to far away to even hear.

"When will that stallion just ask me out already?"
