The Healer, The Thief, and the Painter. Act 1 The Healer
The Tower
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI ran until I could see the base of the tower which had a solid iron door set straight on the ground with two more armored guard ponies standing by each side. As they saw the riot of Technicolor equines behind me, they pulled out steel swords from sheathes strapped at their sides with their teeth and crossed them to block my path. For some reason, a small smug smirk slowly emerged on my face and as I still rushed towards the guards. I flicked the spear’s heavy butt forward and swung downward with all the strength that I could muster. The solid butt smashed into the X that the swords had formed, and drug them straight down to the ground. And along with the ponies’ faces which made a satisfying crack against the stoned streets. “Jerk wads.” I muttered as I pulled on the handled of the door. As soon as they swung wide enough I rushed inside and pulled the doors close on the other side. I fed the small spear through the two handles until they formed a nice little lock.
“That should hold them” I told myself smugly.
“No it won’t” Allumere said pointedly, “They will just use magic to burn through and them what master planner?”
“Working on it…”
“Really? Because it looks like you are just standing around like a trapped animal ready to be captured.”
“If you have any ideas, I’m all ears” I stated.
“Maybe you could go up the stairs right next to you and get to higher ground.” I looked to my left and there were indeed a flight of ivory stairs leading up the curve of the tower. As I admired them a small green beam of flame erupted from the top of the seams connecting the doors and proceeded slowly downwards towards Aurora’s spear.
“Let’s go then smart-ass!” I cried and bounded up the stairs.
