A Pony Story by Me
Pinkie Pie woke up excited. She boinged out of bed, turned on the lamp and peered at the calendar to see if there were any birthdays today.
There was a birthday! Grace Rock, in the human world, turned 12 today! Pinkie Pie grinned. “Grace does such AWESOME fan-stuff!” She was very excited to get to the human world.
Pinkie wrote a note and pinned it on her door, then put another on the table just in case a certain lavender unicorn decided to teleport here. The notes read: “Gone to the human world to spend the day with a birthday girl. Be back late tonight! Love, Pinkie Pie!!”
Pinkie then crouched, a look of concentration furrowing her brow. She tensed, then leaped up in one of the biggest boings she had ever boinged in her life.
She landed in the human world.
Breaking the 4th wall never failed. Ever.
I was eating breakfast when Pinkie Pie landed in my living room. I almost choked. “WHAT THE!? Why is there a pink pony in my living room!?” I cried once I could breathe properly again.
“Because she wants to wish you a happy birthday, silly!” said Pinkie, coming to stand by me. “Ooh, is that CHOCOLATE oatmeal??”
“Yeah,” I said.
“Ooh, can I try it??”
“Um…I guess so.” I got another spoon for Pinkie and she proceeded to finish the rest of my bowl, after confirming that I wasn’t hungry enough to finish it.
Oh, Pinkie.
Then Mom came out. “Wow, nice costume,” she said to Pinkie, who looked very confused.
“What costume? I’m not wearing a costume. I’m Pinkie!” she said.
“Nice try, but you ain’t fooling me,” Mom replied. “Well, how about this then??” cried Pinkie.
Suddenly from out of nowhere, a blue cannon on pink wheels appeared. “Oh my gosh the PARTY CANNON!!” I squealed. I was really excited now.
“I never go anywhere without it,” said Pinkie matter-of-factly. Then…
BOOM!!
Suddenly party stuff was all over everywhere.
Mom gaped as Pinkie raced over to a table on which a huge cake rested. She took a huge bite, chewed, swallowed, then beckoned me over. We proceeded to stuff our mouths with cake while a dumbfounded Mom watched, utterly confused.
“So…you’re the real Pinkie Pie?” she asked when we had finished the cake.
“Yup!” said Pinkie, and burped. We laughed.
That was the start of the best birthday of my entire life.
It was a wonderful afternoon. Pinkie Pie and I sat on a bench in the park feeding pigeons. “Isn’t this a great day?” the pink pony said to me. “Great day? This is the best day of my WHOLE LIFE!!” I replied, grinning.
Pinkie giggled. “I knew you would say that. And next year, it’ll be even better!!”
“I don’t think it can GET any better than this,” I said skeptically. “But…you never know with you.”
Pinkie grinned. “Yup! I am as unpredictable as a summer storm in the middle of winter! OH, and I have a present for you! I can’t believe I forgot!”
She produced out of nowhere a large box. I opened it and pulled all the tissue paper out to see…
The Daring Do series. All of them. Bound like they came from my world and not Pinkie’s.
I squealed. “OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH!!! THE DARING DO BOOKS!!!!” I lifted out the very first one and read the jacket flap (they were, of course, very nice hardcover editions with very nice dust jackets) even though I knew what it was about from watching the episode Read It and Weep, one of my favorites.
Then I turned to Pinkie. “Oh my gosh, I don’t even know what to say.”
“Thank you?” suggested Pinkie.
“Yeah, thanks.” I proceeded to yell “THANK YOU!!!” and throw my arms around the party-loving pony, almost knocking her, the books, and I myself off the bench.
“I got the set from Twilight Sparkle. She gave it to me because I said I wanted to give it as a present. Which I did! And I have! And now I have that warm, fuzzy feeling inside me that I always get when someone’s really really really happy with what I give them!” Pinkie grinned and hugged me. I hugged her back (this hug wasn’t as tight as the previous one).
“This has been a really REALLY great day,” I said to Pinkie Pie that evening, as we sat in my living room watching a movie.
“I know, right??” cried Pinkie.
When the movie was over Pinkie looked sad. “Well, I guess it’s goodbye now.”
“Wait, you’re leaving?”
“Yeah, I have to get back now. I said in the note I’d be back late tonight.”
I hugged Pinkie and she hugged me back. Then Pinkie hugged Mom for good measure. Then, after promising she would come back to visit soon, she crouched, concentrated, and then leaped.
She landed in Equestria.
Breaking the 4th wall never failed. Ever. Ever ever ever.

Pinkie Pie Loves Birthdays
Pinkie Pie was at Carousel Boutique the next afternoon, trying on a dress for Rarity, when she remembered something. She proceeded to gasp a gasp comparable to the gasp she’d gasped when she’d first met Twilight Sparkle on that day long ago.
“OH MY GOSH I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING!!!!!!!!” she shrieked, shooting over to Rarity's telephone and not giving a single thought to the half-sewed dress, which fluttered calmly off her back and into its creator’s hooves.
“Rarity, can I make a phone call?” Pinkie asked.
“Er…yes, sweetie, go right ahead,” replied the rather flustered fashionista. The bouncy mare dialed a number and waited.

Rrrrring! Rrrrring!
Lyra picked up the phone. “Hello?” The voice that answered her was instantly recognizable and unmistakable. Pinkie.
“Hi Lyra! I’ve got some super duper awesome news to tell you!” The pink pony started talking so fast Lyra couldn’t even understand her.
“Wait! Stop! Slow down!” the turquoise unicorn exclaimed, secretly rolling her eyes. She didn’t know how anyone ever made sense of that mare.
The stream of speech stopped. “Whoops!” Pinkie giggled. “Sorry! I forget who I’m talking to when I’m on the phone sometimes.”
Then Lyra heard a muffled growling. “What was that!?” she cried in alarm.
There was another giggle. “Oh, don’t worry!” said Pinkie. “That was just my tummy. I’m rrreally hungry! Are you?”
“Uh…yes, kinda,” responded Lyra.
“Ooh! I’ve just had a dee-licious idea! We’re both hungry – how about we meet at Sugarcube Corner and I can tell you the super duper awesome news while we eat?”
“Uh…sure,” said Lyra.
“Great!” Pinkie cried. “See ya there!” Click.
“Hey Rarity, can I go meet a friend at Sugarcube Corner?” Pinkie asked.
“Um…sure, Pinkie, go right ahead,” the white unicorn answered, with a forced laugh.
“Thanks! Bye!” The pink pony boinged happily out of Carousel Boutique, humming cheerfully to herself.
Rarity looked down at the barely conceived dress in her hooves and sighed. She didn’t know why she had bothered to design a dress for Pinkie, not now, when the party-lover seemed more distracted than ever.
The purple-maned mare shook her head. It’ll get done eventually, she told herself unconvincingly as she laid the half-formed shell of what the dress could be on one of her foam models, to work on another day.

At Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie met up with Lyra. While they were waiting for their orders, Pinkie leaned over the table and staaaared into Lyra’s golden eyes.
“I know how to get to the human world,” she whispered theatrically.
Lyra gasped, almost falling out of her chair in her excitement. Her eyes widened and even her mane seemed to perk up.
“HUMANS!?”
And that was how Lyra learned to break the fourth wall.
