Twilight has been wondering if life exist somewhere else than Equestria, and what would happen if they ever visited after looking at the night sky with her telescope. Writing a letter to Princess Celestia about her idea of life beyond their planet; only discovering a truth that has been locked away in darkness for years inside a locked chamber in the Canterlot castle.

But back on Earth, the U.S. Army has been able to create one of the very first portals in human history. There is a gateway to enter, but the exit is undetermined. But what happens if humanity has control to send anything back and forth from the the other world? And some unfortunate events unfold with the portal, with the humans and ponies on the other side?
