She sat at her throne drinking her tea when the letter materialized. Ahh right on time! A smile crossed her face. She levitated the letter over while still holding her tea in a magical grip. She began to read. Her heart sank as she finished the letter. The tea cup fell from her magical grip and shattered on the floor. She grabbed a piece of parchment and wrote the only thing she could think and sent it. Celestia sat there staring of into space. She seemed ready... I taught her well and she made it further in her studies of friendship then anypony previous. Tears began to form in her eyes. The fact that I got the letter from Rarity meant she was close. Twilight was close, so close to getting the spell right... Why did this have to happen again? At each thought Celestia grew sadder, tears began to fall down her face a she stared off into space. Just then Luna walked in the room. "Sister why does thou cry?” asked Luna in a worried tone, quickening her pace to reach her sisters side. Luna knew that this must be about the spell. Surely Twilight did not fail? Luna thought as she finished the crossing the distance of the throne room. "Did thy faithful student not succeed?" asked Luna, Celestia fell to floor and cried more. Luna comforted her older sister with a hug having not seen her sister this emotional since the day she had returned from the moon. "She seemed like she was ready,” said Celestia, "and now she dead and it's all my fault." "Don't blame thyself, we thought she was ready to, “said Luna trying to comfort her sister, "but we must inform her friends of her passing. They have the right to know." "What am I supposed to tell them Luna?" Said Celestia, peering up into Luna's eyes. "Just tell them the truth and I'm sure they'll understand" said Luna, lifting Celestia to her hooves. "Understand what!? That I sent a spell to Twilight that killed her? That I didn't help her or even warn her? That was Twilight must have been so close because you all should have died too!!" Celestia yelled turning her back to Luna. "We both know that thou couldn't help her. We learned that when Starswirl tried," said Luna moving around to face Celestia, “but standing here crying like a foal with help nopony." Celestia snuffled as she looked her sister in the face. "Come sister. Let's go," said Luna. "Okay...," Celestia replied as she began to walk towards the door. ===================================================================== Their chariot arrived in Ponyville half an hour later. Luna and Celestia stepped off. Though it had not hit her as hard, Celestia could see sadness in her sister's eyes. When they reached the door Celestia hesitated to knock. What if they blame me for everything? What if... Celestia train of though was stopped short when Luna placed a hoof on her shoulder. Taking a deep breath Celestia knocked on the door. Rainbow Dash opened the door, a sad frown on her face. Celestia saw the others as she slowly walked into the room. Rarity's mane was horribly disheveled, Pinkie Pie’s hair had lost its puffiness, Applejack was shaking, Rainbow Dash frowned, and Fluttershy was hiding behind her long hair. Luna raised a hoof, about to speak, but Celestia stopped her. Celestia saw the pile of ash and burn mark, she tried to put on a face of stone. “My little ponies... Twilight is..., “Celestia paused when she saw Spike, the fear and sadness in his eyes, she snapped. Tears began to fall down her face, the room was dead silent and nopony took a breath as Celestia finished her words. “Twilight is dead...” Everypony in the room stood silently in shock until Rainbow Dash broke the silence. “Hehe... Good one Celestia, this is a prank isn’t it? Where’s the camera, “asked Rainbow Dash as she began to search around the library. “Tis no joke Dash, " answered Luna gravely as Rainbow Dash continued to search around the library, disheveling books and looking under the wooden carving in the center of the library. “No seriously where is it?” said Rainbow Dash still searching the library. “Did we kill Twilight?” asked Fluttershy in a serious tone standing in front of Celestia, her face changing from scared to concerned. Rainbow Dash stopped searching, everypony in the room turned to focus on Celestia and Fluttershy. Celestia took a moment to wipe the tears from her face and looked Fluttershy in eyes. “No the spell did, “said Celestia. “What was so darn important that you need to put Twilight in such danger?” asked Applejack stepping up to Celestia. “Immortality, " said Celestia, her eyes still red from crying earlier. “Say what now?” questioned Applejack. “The spell will give immortality to the pony who casts it correctly, " Celestia replied. “Why in the wide wide world of Equestria was that worth risking Twilight's life?” said Rarity as she also approached Celestia. “Because thine sister has grown so very tired of outliving her little ponies, " said Luna. “Well Celestia, your plan sure worked well now didn’t it, “said Spike with anger in his voice. Tears still in his eyes. “I thought Twilight could solve it, she..." “Well you were wrong!” yelled Spike throwing a book at Celestia's face and running out the door, tears streaming from his eyes. “Of all the worst possible things you could do Celestia, this IS the worst possible thing, “said Rarity running out the door with the others going after Spike. Celestia dropped to her hooves and began to bawl shaking on the floor like a little filly. Luna picked up the book Spike had thrown. It was an old picture album. The cover held a picture of Celestia, Twilight, and Spike when he first hatched. Celestia’s face was burnt away. Luna put the book down and walked over to her crying sister. “They hate me Luna," said Celestia her crying intensifying. “Don't worry sister they don't hate you, “said Luna giving Celestia a hug. “Let’s go Luna I’m not sure they want to see me again right now, “said Celestia as she stood up, dried her face with magic and walked out the door. Luna followed behind. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Spike charged out the door, tears streaming from his eyes. He wasn’t sure where he was running to but he just wanted to get away from Celestia. “Spike come back!” yelled Rarity. He vaguely heard her voice but just kept running. "Hay there Spike, where are you going?" said Scootaloo turning around as he ran passed. She was nearly ran over by the ponies chasing him. "Rainbow Dash what's goin..." "Not right now Scootaloo," said Dash without stopping. "What was that about?" said Scootaloo as she continued on her way to Ponyville Park. Other ponies on the street tried to say hi as he ran passed, but he ignored them all and just kept running. He was nearly to the Everfree Forest when he tripped over a small rock in the road. He just laid there in the dirt crying, not having the strength or the will to get back up. How could Twilight be dead? It can’t be true... It can’t be..., Spike thought as the sound of hooves got closer. His crying subsided because he was all out of tears to cry. “Ohh Spike come here, “said Fluttershy pulling up into a hug. “I’m all alone now, " said Spike looking up at Fluttershy. “That’s not true, " said Pinkie Pie, "we're all here for you.” Spike looked over at Pinkie then at the ground. “I never got to say goodbye to her, “said Spike wiping his nose. “Awe come here sugar cube, “said Applejack as she gave Spike another hug. The rest of the ponies joined in too. “I just miss her so much, " said Spike. “We all do, “said Rainbow Dash. “What am I going to do now? I have no one to take care of me, “said Spike through a sniffle as the hug broke up. “You can come live with me dear, “answered Rarity giving him a small smile, "I can make up the spare room for you.” “Thank you Rarity, " said Spike giving her a quick hug. “Come on let’s go get you cleaned up and grab your things, “said Rarity as they started walking back in town, the other ponies following behind. When they got back to the library they saw princesses had left. “Good riddance I don’t think I could look at Celestia again right now, " said Applejack as they walked into the library. “Hay. I umm... gotta go clean up the rest of the clouds from earlier," said Dash flying out of the library. “I go to go also. I need to help my animals," said Fluttershy. “And ma apples need some tendin’ to, “said Applejack. “I also have to go and start my shift at Sugarcube Corner, " said Pinkie. All three of them walked out together. “I'm sure their just looking for a distraction. Spike do you need any help packing up?" said Rarity as Spike started walking up the stairs to his room. "I can get it," replied Spike grabbing his bed and started placing his belongings in it. “Are you sure?” asked Rarity as she reached the top of the stairs. “I'm fine, " said Spike as he grabbed his things and placed them in the basket he slept in. He grabbed the last few things of the shelf and placed them in the basket. Then folded his blanket around them and tied a knot at the top. He tried to pick up but it was too heavy for him. “I got it, " said Rarity lifting the bundle of items in her blue aurora. “Put it in the red wagon for me please, “said Spike pointing to the red wagon downstairs in the library. The bundle floated down into the wagon and the blue aurora disappeared. “Is that everything?” asked Rarity as she looked around the room. “Yeah..., " said Spike taking one last sad look around the room, "let’s go.” They walked down the stairs and Spike was nearly out the door when Rarity stopped him. "Don't you want to take this Spike?" said Rarity floating over the photo album with her magic. Spike grabbed it out of the air and looked at the cover. The photo he had burned had been one of Twilight's favorites. He could almost remember that day... maybe he could get the photo repaired. He placed the photo album in his wagon and walked out with Rarity. He turned around and looked back into the library. He sighed, closed the door, and they started their walk to Carousel Boutique. ===================================================================== Rarity opened the door for Spike as he pulled his wagon the last few feet to the Boutique. Once inside Rarity closed the door. “Give me a minute while I go make up the spare room for you, “said Rarity as she walked off toward the spare room. Spike sighed while rocking back and forth as he waited. He turned around to face the stairs when he heard hoof steps approaching. “Hi Spike. What are you doing here?” asked Sweetie Belle walking down the stairs into the main room. “Ohh hay Sweetie Belle I’m just... umm...," said Spike. “Spike is going to be staying with us for a while Sweetie Belle, " said Rarity walking back into the room. “Why is that?” asked Sweetie Belle turning around to face her sister. “Well... umm...," said Rarity as Sweetie Belle’s curious stare bore down on her, “well you see Sweetie Belle there was a umm... accident with Twilight and Spike needs someplace to stay.” “Ohh my. Is Twilight alright?” questioned Sweetie Belle with concern in her voice. “Err... yes, “said Rarity looking away from Sweetie Belle. “What happened?” asked Sweetie Belle. “Twilight was..., " Rarity paused to sigh, “Twilight miscast a spell and it...” “It what?” said Sweetie Belle her look changing to concern. “It killed her Sweetie Belle, " said Rarity. “Ohh my..., “said Sweetie Belle turning to Spike and giving him a hug, “I’m so sorry Spike.” “So Spike will be staying here for the foreseeable future and will be using the guest room during his stay with us,” said Rarity, “so Spike if you would follow me I’ll show you to your room.” Spike followed Rarity pulling his wagon into the spare room. “You go ahead and unpack and I’ll get dinner started, “said Rarity as she walked out. Spike took a moment to look around the room. It was a medium sized, no windows, plain white, had a small bookcase, and was just a little bit cold. After the quick assessment of the room he started unpacking. He placed various scrolls and books on the bookcase in alphabetical order, he put his pictures on top of the bookcase, and placed the photo album on top of the folded blanket in his bed. The smell of dinner floated into his room followed by Sweetie Belle. “Hay Spike it’s time for dinner," she announced. “What are we having?” asked Spike placing his pillow on his bed. “Hay fries and oats, plus Rarity set aside some gems for you," said Sweetie Belle. “Okay I’ll be there in a minute,” said Spike turning back around. “We’ll be waiting,” said Sweetie Belle walking out of the room. Spike took a moment to soak in the new room. Spike walked towards the door of his new room, he stopped and turned around look at it one more time. “Well time to go eat then,” Spike said to himself. He walked out of his new room and off to the kitchen. Author's Note Well got it in a little earlier then I thought. You can thank McKenzie HollyLeaf for that. Once in the castle they walked different directions. "Where are thou going?" asked Luna, “It’s nearly time to lower the sun." "Do not worry sister I will be there soon, but first there is someone I need to see," said Celestia. "Are you sure it is wise to visit him? He tried to take the throne last time," said Luna. "Last time he didn't have Fluttershy," said Celestia turning around the corner. "I hope thou is right...," said Luna before walking to the throne room. ===================================================================== "Good afternoon Celestia," said Discord lounging on a bed of nails on the ceiling. "Hello Discord I need your help," said Celestia stepping into room and immediately falling to the ceiling. "Sorry Celestia I can't date you. Even if you're falling for me," said Discord through his laughter. "I don't need this right now," said Celestia giving him a glare as she righted herself. "Fine," said Discord with a snap of his fingers flipping the room right side up. Except Celestia who fell to the floor. "Discord," said Celestia angrily while sprawled upside down on the floor. "I'm sorry I'll stop. So what do you need help with?" said Discord grinning. "I need to see somepony," said Celestia. "And why do you need my... Wait there dead aren't they? Who was it?" said Discord. "It was Twilight," said Celestia. "You realize the point of a prank is to be funny?" said Discord," And so far you’re not doing so well." "I wish it was just a prank Discord," said Celestia. "Well if you're going try and continue I might as well play along. So how did she die?" said Discord. "She miscast a spell," said Celestia. "Seriously? A miscast spell. Could you be anymore unoriginal Celestia?" said Discord rolling his eyes," What did she do? Teleport into the ground, drop a rock on her head?" "Immortality," said Celestia. "Ohh. So this really isn't a prank," said Discord his eyes widening," Twilight really is dead then. That means the Elements are useless. I could take over and there is nothing you could do about it," said Discord a grin growing on his face. "Yes that is true, but we both know you won't do that," said Celestia. "Ohh? And why is that?" said Discord with a devious smile. "Because you won't risk losing your only friend, Fluttershy," said Celestia. They both stared at each other for over a minute before Discord relaxed. "I guess you're right. I assume you're ready to go now?" said Discord. "Yes," said Celestia. "Just remember to watch where you walk. You can go just about anywhere from there," said Discord and snapped his fingers. The room began to stretch as white dots started to show up around her. The dots began stretching in to lines, like a jump to light speed, the room fading. Celestia felt sick and a growing pressure in her head like she need to pop her ears. Finally she felt like she was shot out of a cannon into a giant wall of white light. ===================================================================== Dang it's bright, thought Celestia as the light slowly faded. This place was sight to see. Thousands of stars and nebulas surrounded Celestia. "Hello?" Celestia called out seeing nopony around. There was no reply. She tried again but there was still no response. Celestia began walking across a floor of stars in search of Twilight. There was no way to be sure how long she had been walking, the perception of time was nonexistent here even for Celestia, but Celestia thought she had been walking for hours. I've searched everywhere. Even the Medusa Cascade and I still haven't found her. Maybe she has already gone. Even if I do find her what will I ..., Celestia's thought was cut off by a voice echoing across space. "Hello? Where am I? What is this place?" someone in the distance called out. Celestia walked toward its source and Twilight slowly faded into view. What do I say? I can't tell her the truth... Congratulations Twilight I knew you could do it," said Celestia as Twilight approached. They embraced in a hug. "Princess, I don't understand what did I do?" said Twilight ending the hug. Looking up to Celestia. "You did something today that has never been done before," said Celestia conjuring Starswirl's Journal. "Something even a great unicorn like Starswirl The Bearded was not able to do because he didn't understand friendship like you do," Celestia continued as she flipped to the page of the spell. "The lessons you've learned here in Ponyville have taught you well. You've proven that you’re ready Twilight," Celestia finished as she started walking. "Ready? Ready for what?" replied Twilight as she turned to follow. All sorts of moments from Twilight's life flew out. That's when Celestia began to sing. "You've come such a long, long~ way..." "... To fulfill your destiny!~" sang Celestia flying up into a pose. Twilight was distracted from it when a small purple light flew out of her body. Celestia watched with a soft smile as Twilight floated up the purple lights flying all around her. It went faster till she couldn't see Twilight anymore. Finally there was a burst of blinding light and Twilight was gone. Celestia stood there staring at the spot Twilight had been. What a coward. I couldn't even tell my most faithful student what happened to her. She would have understood right? "Discord... I'm ready to come back," said Celestia. "About time," said Discord his voice coming from everywhere. Celestia's stare never moved off the spot even as the world became white and then faded to black. ===================================================================== Celestia awoke in her bed breathing heavily. It was dark out and a cold breeze floated in her room's window. "Luna," Celestia called out as she got out of her bed. The door swung open and Luna entered the room. "Ahh sister. Discord told me thou came back," Luna said walking up to her sister. "How long was gone. It is dark out now," said Celestia looking out the window. "Two days and three nights," replied Luna," but do not worry sis. Discord has moved the sun in your absence." "What!?" said Celestia spinning around to look at her sister. "I kept a close eye on him. Just to make sure there was no funny business," said Luna trying to dispel her sister's fear," It seems Fluttershy really has changed him for the better." Celestia turned back around to look out the window," Thank you sister. I think I need sometime alone right now." Luna gave a small nod and walked out closing the door behind her. Celestia watched her sister leave. Once she was gone she looked back out the window. Her horn began to glow and a small orb of purple light formed. It then flew up into the sky and joined the countless others in the sky. "Goodnight my faithful student," said Celestia staring at the new star before turning around and closing the window. To fulfill your destiny!~" sang Celestia flying up into a majestic pose. Twilight was distracted from it when a small purple ball of light flew out of her body. Twilight looked at the purple orbs flying around her as she rose off the ground. They went faster until she couldn't see anything anymore. Once again the world was encapsulated in white light. The sense of gravity returned as Twilight felt herself drifting to the ground. Her hooves contacted dirt as the light began to fade. Something is different... She thought standing up straight and opening her eyes. Her friends were standing a few hooves away staring at her. She looked up, My horn is still there. She looked down, Same purple coat. What are they looking... Her eyes drifted to her back, Ohh. Well those are new. She reached back to examine the pair of wings on her back. When she touched them she felt sensation travel from the new appendages. Good their not cardboard attached with tape. That was a weird dream. She was a little startled when Applejack spoke. "I've never seen anything like it Twi," said Applejack walking up in front of Twilight. "Twilight got wings. Awesome!" said Rainbow Dash flying next to her grabbing her wing," A new flying buddy," she said giving Twilight a hug. "Why you've become an alicorn. I didn't even know that was possible," said Rarity looking over Twilight's new wings. "Alicorn party!" screamed Pinkie swinging past dressed like an alicorn. "Wow. You look just like a princess," said Fluttershy standing next to Twilight. "That's because she is a princess," said Celestia landing behind everypony. Everypony gasped. "Hold on a second!" said Pinkie pulling out a glass of water and spit taking. "A... a princess?" said Twilight felling on the verge of a panic attack. She looked up when she felt Celestia's hoof on her shoulder. "Since you've come to Ponyville you've displayed the charity, compassion, devotion, integrity, optimism, and of course leadership of a true princess," said Celestia. "But does this mean I won't be your student anymore?" said Twilight sadly. "Not as in the same way as before. I'll still be there to help and guide you, but we're all your students now too. You’re an inspiration to us all Twilight," said Celestia bowing to Twilight followed by Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and finally Spike. "What do I do now? Is there a book about being a princess I should read?" said Twilight. "Haha. There will be time for all of that later," said Celestia smiling at Twilight. Twilight smiled back looking at Celestia until something off to the right caught her eye. When she looked there was nothing there. Hmm... I thought I saw somepony over there. Twilight's attention was drawn back to Celestia when she spoke again. "We better get going. There are many things to prepare in Canterlot before tomorrow," said Celestia motioning in the direction of the train station. ===================================================================== It was a bright sunny day in Canterlot. The perfect day for the coronation going on below. It was happening in the same hall as the royal wedding. Hundreds of ponies had come to witness it. Celestia, Luna, and Cadence were dressed in regal outfits and wearing their ceremonial crowns. Twilight's friends were all dressed in fancy cloths standing to the right of the three princesses. Now that everypony was here the ceremony began. "We are gathered here today in celebration of a momentous occasion. My most faithful student, Twilight Sparkle, has done many extraordinary things since she has lived in Ponyville," said Celestia addressing the audience. "She even helped reunite me with my sister Princess Luna," said Celestia looking at her sister then back to the crowd, “but today Twilight Sparkle did something extraordinary. She created new magic. Proving without a doubt that she is ready to be crowned Equestria's newest princess. Fillies and gentlecolts may I present for the very first time, Princess Twilight Sparkle! Music and singing began. All eyes watched as Twilight Sparkle walked down the row towards the princesses. Some even joined in the singing. She stopped in front of Celestia and Spike stepped forward with her crown, the Element of Magic. Celestia gripped the crown in her magic and placed it on Twilight's head. Twilight looked to the left and all her friends gave her encouraging smiles. She turned to face the audience and smiled at the crowd. Celestia motioned for Twilight to go to the balcony. Twilight waves at the thousands of ponies gathered below as the music finished. "Say something princess," said Celestia in a whisper to Twilight. She looked back at her and walked out to the edge of the balcony. The crowd fell silent. "A little while ago my teacher and mentor, Princess Celestia, sent me to live in Ponyville. She sent me to study friendship, which was something I really didn't care much about," said Twilight looking back at her friends," but now on a day like today I can honestly say I wouldn't be standing here without the friendships I've made. Each one of you taught me something about friendship and for that I'll always be grateful," she said bowing to her friends the turning back to the crowd," today I consider myself the luckiest pony in Equestria. Thank you friends. Thank you everypony." The crowd exploded in applause. They turned around and walked back inside the castle. Shining Armor ran up with Princess Cadence. "Hey Twilight I'm so proud of you," said Shining hugging his sister. They stepped back and looked at each other. "Are you crying?" said Twilight. "Of course not it's, it's liquid pride. It's a totally different thing," said Shining. They both laughed and hugged again. "Way to go princess," said Applejack "Best coronation day ever!" said Pinkie. "We love you Twilight," said Fluttershy. "I love you to girls," said Twilight as they all joined in a group hug. "So what is next on the agenda," said Rarity. "An awesome drive by in Twilight's new chariot and a musical number!" said Pinkie Pie with a grin. "I don't think that...," said Rarity. "Actually that's exactly what's next," interrupted Twilight," speaking of which we've got to go do that. We'll meet up back at the castle for the party tonight." ===================================================================== The party was a small one. Only Twilight's friends, Spike, the princesses, and her brother were there. They sat at the largest table in Pony Joe's. They moved the party there to get away from all the nosey nobles. Currently Joe was getting them some doughnuts. "So as I was saying. I have the whole thing planned out. We'll start with proper wing care and exercises. Then I'll teach you how to hover. Then full fight. I'll also show you how to do some tricks," said Rainbow Dash "I can't wait Rainbow. I've even started reading some books about basic flight techniques," said Twilight. "Speaking of training books. Twilight here is the list of book I'd like you to read," said Celestia levitating over a list," They're mostly books on Equestrian laws and foreign policies. I'd like you to read them by the end of the month. There will also be a test over the information." "Okay princess," said Twilight grabbing the list and looking it over," I’ll get started tonight after the party and I'll make flash cards and..." "Calm down Twilight. There's no rush. It can wait till tomorrow. I have complete confidence that you'll pass," said Celestia. "Alright everypony who is ready for some doughnuts?" said Pony Joe carrying a tray of freshly made doughnuts. They all cheered and grabbed their doughnuts. "So now that I'm a princess will I still stay in Ponyville?" asked Twilight between a bite of sprinkle doughnut. "For now thou will reside in Canterlot, but thy friends may visit anytime," said Luna taking another bite of her maple bar. "Once you've completed training you may live anywhere within twelve hours of Canterlot. Ponyville is within that range," said Celestia eating a chocolate cake doughnut. "It'll be different not having Twi around," said Applejack eating a pumpkin doughnut. Twilight's friends sighed. "Don't worry, she'll be back in Ponyville before you know it," said Shining Armor eating a lemon custard doughnut. "The training should only take a couple months," said Cadence also eating a lemon custard doughnut. "But months are such a long time," said Pinkie who was on her 12th sugar coated doughnut. "I'm sure we can go couple months without Twilight in Ponyville. We can always visit her," said Rarity eating a croissant instead of a doughnut. "I must be going," said Luna standing up," The night court is about to begin. Goodnight everypony." "Night Luna," everypony replied. "It certainly is late. I hate to end the festivities but, Twilight and I must be up early tomorrow. Also if I'm not mistaken the last train to Ponyville leaves in half an hour," said Celestia standing up. "Ohh my goodness. Your right," said Rarity standing up too. "Goodbye girls," said Twilight starting a group hug. Once the hug broke up everypony started going on their ways. "See you all soon!" said Twilight waving at her friends goodbye. Twilight turned to follow Celestia as her friends rounded the corner. Canterlot was exceptionally quiet tonight. The few ponies they met greeted and bowed to them. Once they reached the castle Celestia showed Twilight to her room. "Goodnight Twilight," said Celestia before leaving the room. The room wasn't much. It was just a simple round room. Sparsely furnished. For now though Twilight just wanted to get some sleep. She slipped under the covers of the bed and fell asleep. Author's Note You'd think Applejack would be eating an apple doughnut, but you'd be wrong. Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 5: Oh What a Beautiful MourningTwilight woke up feeling refreshed. It had been surprisingly easy to sleep with wings. She walked up to the little mirror in her room. Her mane was a mess. She levitated the brush she found in one of the drawers and began to brush her hair. Once she had cleaned it up a bit she opened the doors to her balcony and stepped out. It was an absolutely beautiful morning. It was warm with a cool breeze. Not a cloud in the sky. The sun was just over the horizon. Below some ponies had begun to open their shops, though most were still asleep. Twilight laughed a bit when she noticed all the ponies camped out in the castle courtyard. They had made their way from all over Equestria just to see her. "I almost can't believe this really happened... One minute I'm seeing a blinding light from the Elements of Harmony, and next, I wake up a princess!" said Twilight putting her hooves on the edge of the balcony and spreading her wings to soak in the warmth of the sun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was an absolutely dismal day. Dark grey clouds covered the entire sky, on the verge of a downpour. A single earth pony stallion walked through Ponyville. He was brown with black hair and was wearing a sweater. He had no cutie mark which was why he was here. He had heard from a friend that their sister's daughter's pen pal's friend heard that there was a group that helped ponies get their cutie marks in this town. He had always been too lazy to go earn a cutie mark but if these ponies could help him get one fast, why not? "Where is everypony?" said Mush looking down different streets. "They're at Sweet Apple Acres for a funeral," said a voice from behind. He turned to find that the voice was from Princess Celestia. "Who died?" asked Mush after a small bow. "My student Twilight Sparkle," said Celestia. "If she was your student why aren't you there?" asked Mush. "Her friends didn't want me to come. I'd rather not explain why," said Celestia. "You're the princess. You could go if you wanted," said Mush. "I could, yes, but I won't because they're right," said Celestia. "If you didn't plan to go then why are you here?" said Mush. "I thought... I don't know," said Celestia beginning to cry," I thought that maybe they wouldn't be angry if I came, but I know they would because they blame me. The worst part is that their right it is my fault..." Mush took a step back as the princess started to laugh. "You know what I just realized? I'm insane. I keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, but you know what? I'm gonna fix that," said Celestia. A book popped into existence. "You see this? This is Starswirl's diary. Inside is an unfinished my students have been trying to correct. The spell is supposed to make the caster into an alicorn, but all six of my students who have tried to cast it have died," said Celestia right before the book burst into flames. Before Mush could say anything the book was a pile of ashes on the ground. "Now nopony can make that mistake again," said Celestia changing to a serious tone," Better to lose the ponies you love to age then to a worthless magic spell. If there is somepony you care about go to them. Your mere prescience is better than any gift you could give them." Mush was left standing there as Celestia teleported out. He stood there for several minutes trying to process what had just happened. I think I just made the princess go crazy. ===================================================================== Rarity was dressed in a simple black dress. She was stroking Pinkie Pie's mane, which had lost its poof, while she cried. Rarity herself was crying a bit. Rainbow Dash hugged Fluttershy as they both cried. Applejack stood off to the staring at the sky. Spike laid on the ground alone clutching Twilight's tombstone. Ditzy Doo had stayed after everypony else had left. She was supposed to come and signal when Rainbow Dash said to start the rain. She wasn't sure if they had noticed her and was surprised when Rainbow Dash spoke. "Go ahead and start the rain. We're going to be here for a little while," said Rainbow Dash never turning to look at Ditzy. After a few minutes it began to rain. It was a cold rain, but they hardly noticed. They just carried on crying. Applejack took off her hat and whispered quietly. "Ma? Pa? If you ever run into Twilight Sparkle up there, could you keep an eye on her for me? Also, let her know that Spike misses her. He never got a chance to say goodbye," she said before replacing her hat on her head. She looked around at her group of friends and noticed Spike all alone. She walked over to Rarity and Pinkie Pie. She quietly said something to Rarity before taking Pinkie Pie. Rarity turned and walked over to the lonely Spike. She laid down in the mud with him and stroked his back while he cried. She cast a spell to keep them dry as the rain continued to fall. She stayed with him long after Rainbow Dash had taken Fluttershy home and Applejack had taken Pinkie home. She laid there and stroked his back as he cried. They were there for hours before Spike fell firmly asleep. Rarity gently levitated Spike onto her back and began to walk back to Carousel Boutique. When she arrived in town hardly anypony was out because of the rain. When she finally stepped inside she walked to the kitchen and carefully cleaned him off. She then carried him to his room and wrapped him in his blankets and set him in his basket. She stepped out of the room and closed the door quietly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Discord popped back into his room at the castle. What a depressing morning. "So where were you this morning?" said a voice from the corner of the room. Discord looked over and saw Celestia sitting in a chair reading a book. "Don't worry Celestia I wasn't up to any funny business," he replied snapping a cup of chocolate milk into existence. "That wasn't what I asked. I want you to tell me where you were Discord," said Celestia setting the book down. "I was umm...," said Discord. "Just spit it out Discord," said Celestia standing up. "I was at Twilight's Funeral. Fluttershy asked me to come," said Discord. "I see. Have a good day" said Celestia with a blank stare as she walked out of the room. I really expected more than that, thought Discord. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Celestia stepped out of Discord's room and walked down the hallway not really sure of her destination. When she reached a dead end she finally acknowledged her surroundings. She had arrived in the stain glass hall. She looked around at all the windows until she ran across the window of Discord. There he was toying with ponies’ lives and in the next being defeated. He caused all that trouble and still he was invited before me. Her anger grew as she stared at the window. Celestia screamed and fired a beam destroying the window of Discord. Glass shards flew all over the room along small bits of metal. "Without me Twilight wouldn't have gone to Ponyville!" yelled Celestia blowing apart another window," Without me Twilight wouldn't have studied magic, without me Twilight wouldn't be... dead." Celestia powered down the spell she was about to fire and looked around. It had felt good to destroy the windows at the time, but now it was just another mess. Somepony had painstakingly made those windows and she just blew them away. Ponies already hate me. What's a few more?, thought Celestia as she curled up on the floor and began to cry. ===================================================================== Dewey Decimal had got the job as the new Ponyville librarian a day after Twilight's funeral. She was a simple pegasus. She had light brown fur and long dark brown hair. Her cutie mark was that of a bookshelf. She was flying with a large stack of books when she was startled by a massive," Surprise!" All the books fell to ground with a thud. She turned and saw four ponies at the door. A blue unicorn stallion, a light grey unicorn mare, a white unicorn stallion, and a pink alicorn mare. Author's Note Took forever to finish this chapter. A ton happened and a lot is to come. Plus that ending. 0_0 Mush is the OC of themouthofmush Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 6: Family Reunion Part 1"Time to double check the checklist," said Twilight preparing to look over her preparations. "Area cleared?" said Spike. "Check." "Doors locked?" "Check." "Silencing spell?" "Check." "Safety Water put in a bucket?" "Check." "That's it," said Spike checking the double check checklist box," You know Twilight we probably didn't need to double check the checklist. We can clearly see everything is here." "Better safe than sorry Spike. Wouldn't want anypony to get hurt," said Twilight closing her eyes and beginning to cast the spell. Her horn began to glow brightly. Five small multicolored spheres grew around her. Something doesn't feel right, thought Spike as he watched. The balls of light left wispy trails of smoke behind as they flew around her. The room was completely silent. "How is the spell going Twilight?" said Celestia teleporting into the room. "Princess Celestia?" said Twilight losing focus. The spell quickly became unsteady before it exploded in a flash of light. Spike covered his eyes from the brightness. "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" screamed Twilight. Spike quickly uncovered his eyes to discover Twilight rolling on the floor trying to put out the fire burning all over her body. He quickly ran to the Safety Water and threw it onto Twilight extinguishing the fire. "Twilight. Twilight say something," said Spike standing over Twilight. Her body covered with burns. Nothing of her mane remained and most of her tail had burned away. "Spike," whispered Twilight reaching a hoof towards him," You’re the best assistant I could have asked for." With a final cough her hoof fell to the floor. "Twilight... Twilight? Twilight!?" said Spike crying," Nonononono Twilight!" Spike turned to go get the medical kit and saw Princess Celestia just standing there. "Help me!" yelled Spike grabbing the medical kit. He ran back to Twilight and began to carefully wrap her in bandages. "She failed the spell," said Celestia. "That's why I need help!" said Spike still tending to Twilight. "Do you know what happens to students who fail Spike? They get sent back to magic kindergarten," said Celestia teleporting out. Spike stared in disbelief at where Celestia had been. He turned back to Twilight burned and terribly wrapped in bandages. There were no signs of life. She wasn't moving or breathing. "How can the world change so quickly?" said Spike as tears falling from his eyes. Spike bolted up right breathing heavily. He felt his blankets. They were wet with sweat. It was dark but he could tell he back in his room at Rarity's house. He sat in his basket for a few minutes before hopping out and leaving his room. Rarity was awoken by something climbing onto her bed. "Spike?" said Rarity noticing the little dragon laying down next to her. "I had a bad dream. Twilight used to..." said Spike. "It's okay Spike. Come here," said Rarity pulling Spike closer. "Goodnight Rarity." "Goodnight Spike." ===================================================================== "Shining!" said Twilight Velvet giving her son a hug before he had even made it through the door. "Hi mom," he said returning the hug. "How's my favorite son been?" Velvet asked letting him he the rest of the way through the door. "I'm your only son and I've been fine. Running an empire isn't as hard as I thought," said Shining Armor. "That's good and Cadence how have you been?" she asked Cadence as she walked in. "Running an empire is harder than it looks," Cadence said before crashing on the couch. "You'll have to tell me about it sometime. Do you want anything to eat?" Twilight Velvet asked walking towards the kitchen. "No it's a little late to eat," said Shining Armor sitting next to his wife who was yawning. "Now don't you fall asleep you two. We have to leave in half an hour. You can sleep on the train," said Velvet. "Yeah I know. I can't wait to see the surprise on Twily's face," said Shinning with grin. Stanley was a simple brown earth pony stallion. He worked at a small mail carrying company. His normal job was to follow onscreen commands as represented by the computer monitor cutie mark he had. Mysteriously though no one else had come to work that day. He had checked everywhere. Even the broom closet... Twice. Since no else came he took it upon himself to deliver the mail so it wouldn't be so late. He was on his way to deliver the last package. As he was approaching the address on the box he saw the occupants leaving. Looking at the package again he noticed it had been delivered from Ponyville and apparently had been accidentally sent just all over Equestria. Why was the package delivered to so many wrong places? Maybe it was a part of some important storyline or maybe it was because the address we terribly written and smudged with tears. While he had been contemplating the reason the package was so late the cab had pulled away. Knowing he could not catch it he simply placed the package in their mail box. Now that he was done he could go home to his wife whom he'd been neglecting. ===================================================================== Dewey Decimal sat up on couch she'd brought in last night. She looked down to see the time on the clock sitting on the floor beside the couch. 6:00 am bright and early. Time to start sorting, Dewey thought before getting straight to work. She looked around on the shelves as she removed books and placed them in stacks on the floor. After she finished removing all the books from the shelves she took a quick break to eat some Cinnamon and Sugar flavored Hay'n'Oats. When she was done she pulled a box out from underneath the couch. Inside were small golden colored metal plaques. They had various sections of the Dewey Decimal system engraved on them. She grabbed the box and flew up to the first shelf to start putting the plaques on the shelf. Once done with the plaques she checked the time again. "7:46 am. I'm four minutes ahead of schedule," she said with a smile. She got to work sorting out the books into piles based on sections in the Dewey Decimal system. Once she had found enough books for section she fly up and place them on the proper shelf. She was flying with a large stack of books for the 400's section when she was startled by a massive," Surprise!" She lost grip in the books when she jumped and they fell to the floor with a thud. She turned and saw four ponies at the door. A blue unicorn stallion, a light grey unicorn mare, a white unicorn stallion, and a pink alicorn mare. Her attention was brought back to books when one of the piles fell, destabilized by the books she had dropped, knocking over another in a domino effect until all the books were in a giant mosh pit of knowledge. Dewey turned back to the group standing the doorway, “Do you need something?" She asked with a little anger in her tone. "Sorry about startling you. I'm Twilight Sparkle's mother Twilight Velvet and wondering if you know where she is. We had some time off so we wanted to surprise her and come visit," said Twilight Velvet walking inside. Dewey's anger disappeared and was replaced with confusion. "Do you not know?" said Dewey Decimal landing in front of the group. "Is she off on one of her adventures again?" said the blue unicorn stallion. "I haven't heard anything from Celestia about Twilight going anywhere... Now that I think about it I haven't heard from her in the past couple days," said the pink alicorn. They really don't know do they? They’re her family. How were they not informed? Should I tell them?, thought Dewey before being brought back into the conversation. "So do you know where Twilight is?" said the white unicorn stallion. "Uhh...," replied Dewey with the group eying her questioningly, “Umm..." "I don't think she knows," said Twilight Velvet, “Well it was nice meeting you." "So where should we try now? We hardly know anypony," said the blue unicorn stallion. "Shining, do you know where any of her friends live?" said Twilight Velvet. "I believe Rarity lives not far here," said Shining. The group of ponies walked out of the library and closed the door leaving Dewey Decimal alone in the library. I hope not telling them doesn't come back to bite me someday. Spike awoke alone in Rarity's room. The sun was already up and was streaming through the windows. He hopped out of bed and opened the door. The smell of food wafting up the stairs. He walked downstairs and into the kitchen. Inside Sweetie Belle was mixing batter while Rarity was cooking eggs. "Good morning Spike," said Sweetie Belle. "Ahh Spike your up. We're nearly done with breakfast. Why don't you go ahead and take a seat," said Rarity grabbing the bowl from Sweetie Bell with her magic and pouring the ingredients into like circles on the pan. Sweetie Belle hopped off the stool she was standing on and made her way to the table. "How are you doing this morning?" said Sweetie Belle taking a seat next to Spike. "Fine I guess," said Spike shrugging his shoulders and not making eye contact. "Anything you wanna do today?" said Sweetie Belle. "Not really," said Spike still not making eye contact. "Maybe you could come to school with m tomorrow," suggested Sweetie Belle. "Okay," said Spike not moving at all just staring at the ground. "Breakfast is ready," announced Rarity levitating plates over to the table. On each was a single egg and three hay pancakes. "Let me just get the orange juice and we can start eating," said Rarity turning around and walking back to the counter. Floating out three cups and the orange juice she filled the cups about a quarter from the top. With the three cups in tow she walked back over to the table, set down the cups, and sat down. "So what were you two talking about?" asked Rarity before taking a small bit of egg. Sweetie Belle was about to talk when the doorbell rang. "I wonder who that could be?" said Rarity getting up and walking out of the room. Sweetie Belle and Spike looked at the door she had gone through curious as to who was at the front door. "Sorry we're closed," said Rarity slightly muffled by the door to the kitchen. The reply was too muffled to understand. The sound of the door opening was heard. "Hello Rarity. We were wondering if you know where Twily is?" said a voice that Spike recognized as Shining Armor. Author's Note So I'm dividing this into a two parter because the chapter was getting long. Plus it's been a while since I updated. Also in case you past the link that was in the story here it is again: "Goodnight Spike." Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 7: Family Reunion Part 2Author's Note Yay finally a new chapter! Hope you guys like it. Sorry it took so long. Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 7: Family Reunion Part 2 Rarity was in the middle of a bite of egg when the doorbell rang. She quickly finished the bite and swallowed. "I wonder who that could be?" said Rarity getting up and walking out of the kitchen and into the main room. "Sorry we're closed," said Rarity in a polite voice. "We're not here to shop," called a voice from the other side of the door. That voice sounds vaguely familiar, thought Rarity walking over and opening the door. "Hello Rarity. We were wondering if you know where Twilight is?" said Shining Armor whom Rarity recognized immediately. "I guess you've haven't really come here often. I'll take you in one moment. I need to tell Sweetie Belle and Spike where I'm going," said Rarity turning to walk back to the kitchen. "What's Spike doing here?" asked Cadence. "He lives with us now," said Rarity still walking. "Why? Did he and Twilight get into a fight," said Cadence with a little worry. Rarity stopped in her tracks. "What did you say you were doing here again?" said Rarity turning around. "We all had a little time off and we were hoping to surprise Twilight with a visit," said Twilight Velvet. Rarity stood there shocked for a moment before regain her composure. "I think it'd be a good if you came and took a seat. I'll get us some orange juice," said Rarity turning back towards the kitchen. Shining Armor, Cadence, Twilight Velvet, and Night Light made their way into the boutique. They took a seat on one of the waiting couches. They heard some talking coming from the kitchen before the door opened. Rarity stepped out carrying four glasses of orange juice in her magic. She passed out the cups and pulled up a chair for herself. "So...," began Shining Armor. "Please finish your juice first," said Rarity. They all sat in silence while they drank their orange juice. "It's good. Nice and sweet," said Night Light setting down his cup. The others nodding in agreement as they finished their cups. "I'll be right back," said Rarity standing up, taking the cups, and walking back to the kitchen. Leaving the group alone again. When she walked back in, she sat back down, and began. "So a few days ago Twilight was sent a package from Princess Celestia. It contained the diary of Starswirl The Bearded. Inside was a spell that the Princess wanted her to correct," said Rarity pausing for a moment. "When she cast the spell originally it screwed up our cutie marks. To fix it she had to help us rediscover our true destinies. Once we were all fixed she had an idea about how to fix the spell. Naturally we followed her to the library. She wrote down the corrected spell and cast it," continued Rarity. Her eyes getting misty. "It all happened so fast... Our elements lit up blindingly bright and before we knew it the spell was over. And all that was left of Twilight was a pile ash," finished Rarity who now had a few tears falling from her eyes. Night Light, Twilight Velvet, Cadence, and Shining Armor sat there silently processing the story they had just been told. Shining Armor was the first to speak. "Twilight's dead?" he said quietly. Rarity just shook her head. His expression turned to that of disbelief. "You said you take us to where she is?" said Night Light standing up. Rarity stood up and motioned for them to follow. Together they walked out of the boutique. Rainbow Dash walked into Sugarcube Corner and was greeted in an almost mechanical voice. "Welcome to Sugarcube Corner," said Pinkie. She was staring at the door unblinking, her mane was just barely poofed, and she was lightly chewing on a cupcake. It also looked like she had put on some weight. "You know Pinkie if you keep eating those cupcakes you won't have any left to sell," said Rainbow Dash giving a forced laugh. Pinkie blinked once and looked back at the pile of cupcake wrappers on the floor. She gave a little shrug and turned back to face Rainbow Dash. "So do you want something," asked Pinkie in near monotone. "I came to see if you wanted to hang out. I think we could both use a little fun," said Dash giving a little smile which Pinkie didn't return. Pinkie shrugged again. She stepped out from behind the counter and followed Dash out of the building. She didn't need to put up a closed sign as there had already been one on the door. Soon after she was outside Pinkie shivered for a moment drawing Rainbow Dash's attention. "You cold?" asked Rainbow Dash. "No...," said Pinkie," There's gonna be a doozy at Sweet Apple Acres." "Hello there Applejack," said Fluttershy," Do you know where your brother is?" "He's probably in the barn," said Applejack before bucking a tree," Why?" "Ohh. Well. It's. Just. Umm...," said Fluttershy stopping to take a deep breath," If I've learned anything recently it's that we could die at any moment and if we aren't more assertive about what we want we could miss out on the chance." Applejack stood there a moment processing what Fluttershy had said before saying," Fluttershy do ya like ma brother?" Fluttershy blushed and gave Applejack a small smile before letting out a small," Yes, but do you think you could come with me." "Absolutely sugar cube," said Applejack with a grin," I'd love to help ya ask my brother out." Fluttershy had another small blush before beginning the walk to the barn with Applejack in tow. They had only made it a few feet before Pinkie and Rainbow Dash came running down the road toward them. "Hay Pinkie what's up?" said Applejack. "I've got the shivers. There's gonna be a doozie," said Pinkie vibrating up and down. "Well Fluttershy here was just about to ask my brother out," said Applejack making Fluttershy blush once again. "Is that true?" said Rainbow Dash. "Yes," said Fluttershy quietly. "About time," said Rainbow giving Fluttershy a hoof bump. "No. That's not it," said Pinkie," It's something else." "Hay is that Rarity?" said Rainbow Dash pointing down the path toward town," How did we miss her?" "Who is she with?" said Fluttershy noticing the ponies following her. "Ain't that Twilight's family?" said Applejack taking a moment to realize what she had said," Ohh..." They all stood there as Rarity approached. It became clear that it was Twilight's family following her. "Morning everypony," said Rarity in a flat tone before continuing to walk. Applejack, Pinkie, Dash, and Fluttershy began to follow too which caused Twilight Velvet to look back at them. The group of ponies walked quietly as Rarity led them. It was only about a minutes walk before they reached the clearing where Twilight was buried. Immediately Shining Armor ran to the tombstone. He stopped and sat down in front of it. Cadence walked over to him. He was staring at the tombstone tears falling down his face. He turned to look at Cadence. "Twily...," said Shining staring at Cadence who was also beginning to cry. Cadence sat down in front of him using her wings to pull him close. He began to cry more as she put her hooves around him. Together they both cried onto each other’s shoulder. Night Light walked up to the tombstone and examined it through his misty eyes. It had her cutie mark carved out of the top and read, Twilight Sparkle | 1991-2013 | Element of Harmony | True, True Friend. "I'll always love you my little bookworm," said Night Light softly stroking the tombstone. His tears finally broke and began falling down his face. The whole time Twilight Velvet had just stood there watching silently and motionlessly. "Who organized the funeral?" asked Twilight Velvet quietly. "I did," said Applejack standing a little to the right of Velvet. Twilight Velvet slowly walked over to Applejack and before anypony realized what was happening she had turned around on her front legs and kicked Applejack square in the face. Applejack caught off guard by the attack took the hit full force flipping over onto her back in a yelp of pain. Rainbow Dash was quick to respond while others watched in shock. She ran between Applejack and Velvet pushing her back. "You leave her alone! What did she ever do to you!?" yelled Rainbow Dash before turning around to help Applejack up. She had a bloody nose and was clutching her head in pain. Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Rarity ran over to Applejack. Night Light stood between the two groups. Cadence was watching them, ready to intervene if things got out of hoof. Shining just continued to cry into her shoulder. "She," said Twilight Velvet pointing at Applejack," buried my daughter without me!" "That doesn't mean you get to hurt Applejack," said Rainbow Dash being held back by Night Light. "Don't tell me what I can and can't do in regards to my daughter, murderer," said Twilight Velvet. "Hay! We didn't murder her. The spell didn't work right," said Pinkie Pie looking away from Applejack and at Twilight Velvet. "You just keep telling yourself that. I've heard the story. It was your Elements that killed my daughter. Had you not been there my daughter would still be alive," said Twilight Velvet. Pinkie's hair lost all the poof that it had left and her eyes began to tear up. "That's not...," said Rainbow before being cut off by Applejack. "I'm sorry," said Applejack wincing in pain. Twilight Velvet's face twisted with anger. "I don't want your bucking apology! I want my bucking daughter back!" screamed Twilight Velvet collapsing to the ground, burying her head in her forelegs, and began crying loudly," My beautiful daughter..." "Honey..." said Night Light placing a hoof on her back. "Leave me alone," said Velvet through her choppy voice and knocking his hoof away. Once again the clearing grew quiet except for the sound of ponies crying. "Come on everypony. Let’s leave them be. We need to take Applejack to the hospital," said Rarity quietly. Rainbow Dash hesitated a moment before coming over to help Applejack along with Rarity. Fluttershy followed just behind them along with Pinkie Pie. 8: Food for ThoughtSomething has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.9: First Day of SchoolSpike sat bolt upright at the sound of his opening door. He was sweating and breathing heavily. "Spike are you alright?" asked Rarity standing in the doorway. "Yeah. I'm fine," said Spike looking over at her. "Well we'll be leaving a about in a few minutes for school. You need to get ready," said Rarity. "Okay," said Spike looking back at his bed. Rarity stood there a moment before turning to go. Spike looked at the doorway again before getting up and packing his things. He tried not to think about the nightmare he'd been having. It was similar to the one he had before only this time Celestia surprised Twilight while she was mixing a potion. Its acidic contents had exploded and covered her body. Celestia had just stood there head tilted like she was curious. The screams of pain still echoed in his mind. He had clung to Celestia's leg begging for help while Twilight cried out for her mentor. "You excited?" asked Sweetie Belle running into the room with her saddle bags on. "I guess," said Spike shrugging his shoulders before he put his backpack on. "Then let’s go," said Sweetie Belle motioning for Spike to follow. "Come on you two lets go. I don't want Spike to be late for his first day," said Rarity opening the front door. Together they walked into the schoolhouse. Sweetie Belle went straight to her seat and began chatting Applebloom and Scootaloo. "Good morning Rarity," said Miss Cheerilee with a smile. "Morning Cheerilee. May I speak with you a moment outside?" asked Rarity. "Of course," said Cheerilee. "Wait here Spike," said Rarity following Cheerilee out the door. Once the door was shut behind them Cheerilee began," So what would you like to speak about?" "I was hoping I could enroll Spike in class," said Rarity," You see before her death Twilight had always taught him. Now that she’s gone he needs somewhere else to learn." "I don't see why not. I'm sure he'll be an excellent student once he gets settled in," said Cheerilee," If that's all you wanted to talk about..." "Actually one more thing. Since Twilight died Spike has been very quiet and antisocial. Would you mind keeping an eye on him and letting me know how he is doing?" asked Rarity. "I see. Sure. I'll keep an eye on him," said Cheerilee placing a hoof on Rarity's shoulder," Don't worry Rarity. Spike is in fully capable hooves." "Thank you very much Cheerilee," said Rarity. "You’re welcome. Now I need to get back to class," said Cheerilee. "Of course. Have a nice day," said Rarity turning to walk away. Cheerilee turned around and walked back into the schoolhouse. She found Spike standing beside her desk staring at the floor. "Good morning Spike," said Cheerilee in a friendly tone. "Morning," said Spike not looking up. "Would you like to pick a seat?" asked Cheerilee. "I guess," said Spike with a shrug. He looked up and down the left most aisle to the seat farthest back. He put his backpack on the floor next to the seat and sat down. Cheerilee stood there for a second before moving behind her desk. "Good morning class," said Cheerilee. "Good morning Miss Cheerilee," said the class in unison. ===================================================================== The first part of class had passed by quickly and now it was recess. All around him foals were playing but Spike sat alone by the corner of the schoolyard facing the fence. "Spike?" said a voice that Spike immediately recognized. "What do you want Diamond Tiara?" said Spike not turning around. What happened next came by complete surprise. Spike was suddenly pulled into a hug. It took a moment for Spike's brain to catch up to what was happening but before he could speak Diamond Tiara spoke. "Why does life have to be so unfair?" asked Diamond Tiara letting go and taking a seat next to Spike. "Uhh...," said Spike not sure what to say. "I'm going to share something with you that I've never shared with anypony before. Not even Silver Spoon," said Diamond Tiara turning to face Spike. "When I was four me and parents went on a vacation to Baltimare. We had a great time," said Diamond Tiara pausing to take a breath. "We accidentally missed our first flight back because I wanted to get ice cream. So we had to wait till night fall for another flying chariot to arrive," continued Diamond Tiara pausing again. "Our flight had been going fine. I'd had even fallen asleep. Daddy woke me up when we were passing by Canterlot. My mommy pointed out all the neat places to go there...," said Diamond Tiara taking several seconds before continuing. "She was pointing out the castle when it happened. Our driver was suddenly hit by a drunk pegasus," said Diamond Tiara closing her eyes as they began to tear up. "The jolt of the collision threw my mom from the chariot. My entire world was suddenly consumed with the sound of my mother’s screams as she fell. It felt like forever... Those ear piercing screams and then they just stopped... The world was silent," said Diamond Tiara tears now falling down her face. "The fall had been so bad that I never even got to see her body. For weeks afterward I had terrible dreams where I had to watch it happen over and over and over again. No matter how hard I tried to change it she always fell. I never told my dad about the dreams and to this day I still have that them every now and then," said Diamond Tiara turning back to face the fence as she continued to cry. They sat in silence for awhile before Spike spoke. "I have dreams too," said Spike turning to face her. "You do?" asked Diamond Tiara wiping her eyes with her forelegs. "Every night. Sometimes several time a night," said Spike eyes a little misty as well. They sat in silence again for several moments. "Thanks for listening," said Diamond Tiara pulling Spike into a hug again. "You’re welcome," said Spike hugging her back. Miss Cheerilee stepped out of the schoolhouse and was about to call everyone in but then she saw them. Over in the corner of the schoolyard Spike and Diamond Tiara were hugging. "I guess a few more minutes of recess won't hurt anypony," said Cheerilee quietly. Author's Note Finally a small beacon of light for Spike. (Bout time) Yet again I'm sorry about the slow update speed. Hope everybody is having a great summer. Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 10: AnswersNight Light looked around the train car. Twilight Velvet sat next to him starring out the window at Ponyville in the distance as sun began to set. Across from him Shining Armor was asleep with Cadence's wing around him. She was also asleep. The train went dark as it passed through the tunnel in the mountain. They would be arriving in Canterlot soon. When they arrived he walked over and woke up Shining and Cadence while Twilight Velvet quietly picked up their bags. There were only a few ponies out tonight so the walk home was quiet. No one said anything the whole way home. When they arrived they went straight to their rooms and went to sleep. Night Light felt exhausted. His wife had spent the night tossing and turning and kept him awake. After a long yawn he realized that his wife wasn't there. He looked around the room and saw his clock. It was already 11:30am. She probably already up, Night Light thought. ===================================================================== Luna paced around outside the hall for the doctor to finish talking with Celestia. She turned when she heard the door open. "So doctor what is thy prognosis?" said Luna walking over to him. Just as he was about to speak a guard came around the corner. "Princess Luna," he said taking a small bow," a pony named Twilight Velvet is demanding to see Princess Celestia." Luna took a moment before speaking. "Doctor leave us," said Luna. "I don't think you should..." said the doctor before Luna cut him off. "Geoffrey leave us," said Luna more forcefully. He sighed before turning to leave. Once around the corner Luna turned back to the guard. "Send her in," said Luna. "Right away Princess," said the guard with another bow and then ran off. Luna began to pace again. It was about a minute before she heard hoof steps. "Where is Celestia? Is she in there?" said Twilight Velvet in an angry tone pointing at the door. "Guard you are dismissed," said Luna. The guard gave a small bow before quickly walking away. "I demand to see Celestia," said Twilight Velvet who was now standing in front of Luna. "She is in there," said Luna stepping aside and pointing to the door. Twilight Velvet immediately walked toward it. I hope this is not a mistake, thought Luna as Twilight Velvet opened the door. Twilight Velvet opened the door and shocked by what she saw inside. Rubble and glass was everywhere along bits of metal. It was dim despite being open to the outside. Most of the columns in the room where destroyed along with several windows. At the end of the hallway Celestia sat next to a large pile of scrolls. Her mane sat along her back mostly motionless. As she got closer she noticed several drawings on the wall. They looked like drawings of Celestia and Twilight but she had never seen them before. When she finally got close enough she spoke. "How could you do this to my daughter?" said Twilight Velvet. She stood there for several seconds waiting for a reply but none came. "Why would you be so careless? My daughter is dead because of your mistake," said Twilight Velvet taking a small pause but Celestia still didn't speak," Even before she was accepted to your school she always talked about you. How great you were. How magically talented you were. How kind you were to everypony... She wanted to be just like you someday she told me." Twilight Velvet took a breath. Celestia still hadn't moved. "Only now do I see though that you never cared for my daughter," Celestia twitched but Twilight Velvet continued," You only do what suits your agenda or else why would you have done this to my daughter." Twilight Velvet was about to continue when Celestia spoke. "You don't think I cared about your daughter?" said Celestia standing up. "I was more of a mother to her then you ever were," she said turning around. She had bloodshot eyes and matted fur from where she had been crying. "I...," began Twilight Velvet but Celestia cut her off. "No. Shut up. It's my turn to speak. I was the one who taught her about the world, comforted her when she had nightmares, and inspired her to be greater. I was the first one she told about her first crush. I am the one she draws in pictures and the one she sends letters too. Tell me. When was the last time you got a letter from you daughter?" said Celestia raising an eyebrow. Twilight Velvet stared at Celestia trying to remember the last letter she got from her daughter. The longer it took the more watery her eyes got. "If you cared for her so much the why did you kill her?" said Twilight Velvet the first couple tears running down her face. "It wasn't supposed to happen," said Celestia. "Then what was?" said Twilight Velvet. "It was supposed to make her an alicorn so she would live forever because...," said Celestia mumbling at the end. "What was that?" said Twilight Velvet. "I... I loved her," said Celestia. "What?" said Twilight Velvet. "I loved her," repeated Celestia. "I you really loved her you wouldn't have put her in danger," said Twilight Velvet. "I don't think you understand what it's like to live as long as I have. To watch as everypony you know gets old and die. Then their children get old and die. Then their children and their children and so on. My only constants are Luna and Cadence. Two ponies for eternity just isn't enough. I loved Twilight and I wanted her to be with me forever," said Celestia taking a breath," I wish I could take back what happened so I could spend what little time we could have had together. Just about anything would be better than this..." Celestia turned around and sat down again. "Now that I've explained myself. Will you please leave?" said Celestia quietly. Twilight Velvet stood there for a moment before she turned around and walked towards the door. When she reached it she turned around. Celestia was still sitting there and the quiet sounds of crying could be heard. She pulled open the door and stepped out closing the door behind her. Luna was standing there waiting. "What did she say?" asked Luna stepping closer. "She loved her...," said Twilight Velvet quietly. "I see. You may go," said Luna. Luna watched as Twilight Velvet slowly walked away. Once she couldn't hear her hoof steps anymore she spoke. "Doctor you can come back in now," said Luna. The doctor came around the corner. "What do you think?" said Luna. "I think I may be time to use one of the special protocols," said the doctor. Luna sighed before speaking. "I agree," said Luna looking over at the door. "I'll get the potion started. Hopefully by this time tomorrow the princess will back to normal," said the doctor walking off to get to work. "I'm sorry sister, but you’re going to have to forget," said Luna quietly to herself. Author's Note Finally chapter 10 is complete. I'd like to thank all my readers. With out your guys comments and likes I probably would have stopped writing back on chapter 3. :) Well this certainly took long enough to do. Schools started up again so hopefully I'll start writing more consistently. So how was everybody's summer? Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 11: I Don't Want To ForgetAuthor's Note So much for updating more frequently. I have had so much homework senior year. An average day consists of 9 hours homework and I rarely get done. Hope you guys enjoy the new chapter. :) Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 11: I Don't Want To Forget Cadence awoke to the sound of a muffled door slam. She sat up and looked around. Shining was still asleep and light was streaming through the window. As she got out of the bed another door slammed. She stretched her wings before opening the door. Cadence took a peak outside but nopony was there. She walked down the hallway and into the main room. Night Light was standing in the kitchen. "Who's slamming doors?" said Cadence walk over to him. "Velvet came in a minute ago muttering 'she said she loved her' and went straight to her room and locked it," said Night Light. "Where did she go?" asked Cadence. "I don't know but if I had to guess I would say that she went to the castle," said Night Light with a small shrug. "Perhaps... I think I'll go to castle myself," said Cadence," I need a few questions answered." "I think I'll stay here," said Night Light. "I'll be back in few hours," said Cadence before walking out the door. When she landed in front of the castle she was meet by a group of guards at the gate. When she tried to enter the guards blocked her path. "We are not allowed to let anypony through," said the guard in front. "Let me through. That's an order," said Cadence stepping forward again. "Sorry. Luna gave us the authority to not let you through. I will send a runner to tell her of your arrival," said the guard before turning and nodding to a guard in the back. He ran off into the castle. "Now we wait," said the guard. "This is ridiculous. Just let me through," said Cadence. The guard said nothing. It was about a minute before the runner came back. "Luna says let her enter," said the runner. The guards stepped out of the way. Cadence walked right past them and into the castle. She walked straight to the throne room. Inside Luna was sitting on her chair. "Cadence...," said Luna being cut off. "I demand to speak to Celestia," said Cadence. Luna sighed," You can't. Special protocols are active." Cadence stood there a moment. Her expression changed from angry to confused. "How long?" asked Cadence. "Since Twilight Velvet left this morning," said Luna," It will be done tomorrow." Cadence looked away and began pacing around the room. After a few moments she turned back to Luna. "I wish to administer the potion," said Cadence. "If you wish," said Luna after a moment," Now we have much work to do until then." ===================================================================== Cadence waited outside the hall's doors. She had been waiting for several minutes while Luna went to retrieve the potion. She heard the clop of a hoofstep and turned to see Luna coming around the corner with the potion in her magic. "Are you ready?" said Luna passing the potion to Cadence's magic. "As ready as I'll ever be," said Cadence. Luna replied with a nod and pushed open the doors. The hall was dark except for at the far end of the hall where there was a small glow. Quiet tears could be heard reverberating off the walls. Luna and Cadence quietly walked down the hall towards Celestia stepping over debris as they went. When they were only a few feet away Celestia spoke. "Cadence, I expected you to...," said Celestia stopping when she saw the potion in Cadence's magic," What do you have that for?" "It's for you Celestia," said Luna. Celestia turned away and shook her head. "No. I don't need it," said Celestia turning back," You can leave now." "Celestia please don't make this difficult," said Cadence taking a step closer. "If you don't take it by choice we will have to force you to," said Luna. Celestia sat quietly staring at the pictures of Twilight. Cadence stepped closer again. Luna opened her mouth to speak but Cadence held up a hoof. Cadence took another step. She was right next to Celestia now. She reached out to comfort Celestia. The moment her hoof touched her she recoiled. Celestia jumped back, springing to her hooves and flaring her wings. "I don't want to forget her!" yelled Celestia charging her horn and firing at the ceiling. Luna immediately teleported behind Celestia. Before she could turn around Luna closed a magic blocker around Celestia's horn. Celestia gave a swift buck to her sister and jumped into the air. She tried to fly towards the hole in the ceiling but was encased in magic before she got far. She struggled trying to break free of the magic but it was no use. "Luna are you alright?" said Cadence straining to hold Celestia. Luna stood up and rubbed her head where her sister kicked her. "I will be fine," said Luna. "I need you to give her the potion. It's over there," said Cadence lowering the still trashing Celestia. Luna looked around and spotted the potion. She grabbed it in her magic and walked to Cadence. Celestia began to cry as she approached the floor. When she saw her sister with the potion she shook even harder to try and escape Cadence's grip. When she felt the floor she let out a scream of defeat and went limp. She was sobbing full force now. She looked up at Cadence and Luna. "Please don't," pleaded Celestia between labored breaths," I don't want to forget her." Luna stepped closer and brought the bottle close to Celestia. "I don't want to forget her," said Celestia pulling away from her sister and hard as she could. Luna held Celestia's head and brought the bottle to her lips. Celestia gave her sister a pleading look and repeat herself again. Luna shut her eyes and looked away as she poured the contents into her sister’s mouth. Celestia struggled as she swallowed the liquid. When it was gone Luna released her grip. Celestia coughed and let her head down. Her hair fell over her face. Luna opened her eyes and looked back at the defeated sister. "You deserved far more than a thousand years on the moon... You monster," said Celestia before slipping into unconsciousness. Cadence laid Celestia down and released her magic. She looked over at Luna. She was shaking and small tears ran down her face. She flinched a little when Cadence set her hoof on her. "I can take it from here. Go get some rest," said Cadence stepping in front of Luna. Luna gave a small nod before teleporting away. Cadence turned around and looked at the now sleeping Celestia. Her eyes drifted to the items behind her. She walked over the collection of items. She felt a twinge of pain when she looked at the photos of Twilight, her now tear stained letters, and a childhood drawing of Celestia and Twilight side by side. Cadence turned back to Celestia and took a deep breath. I have work to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Luna popped into her room. She paced a bit before falling to the floor. She let out a scream and buried her head in her hooves. Her body shook as she cried. You knew just how to hurt me dear sister. 12: I Don't RememberLuna opened the doors to Celestia's room. Cadence turned around when she heard the door. "Tis done?" asked Luna walking beside Celestia's bed. "Yes, I made sure to be very precise. She should wake in a few hours," said Cadence. A soft knock was heard from the doorway. Both princesses turned to look. "Sorry am I interrupting?" said the pony with a small bow. "No. What do you have to report?" said Luna. "I've finished writing the official press release based on the information Princess Cadence gave me. I thought that you would like to review it before I finalize it," said the pony pulling a small bundle of papers from her saddle bag. Luna grabbed the papers from her with her magic. Cadence moved over to read them as well. Several lines caught Luna's eye as she read. ...accident involving Princess Celestia and her student Twilight Sparkle... ...Twilight died from brain damage due to magical feedback... ...Princess Celestia kept in magic comma to prevent further damage during recovery... ...Twilight's body was retrieved by her friends and family... "It will suffice arrange the press meeting for tomorrow afternoon," said Luna handing back. "Yes princess. I also wrote letters for her friends and...," began the pony before Luna held up a hoof. "No. I will write the letters to her friends and family," said Luna. "Yes princess," said the pony. She took a small bow and left. "How do you believe they will react?" said Luna turning to Cadence. "I don't know," said Cadence shaking her head. Luna turned back to Celestia and sighed. "I need you to make sure the Sparkle's don't challenge the story," said Luna turning back. "I can ask them not to but I can't force them not to challenge it," said Cadence. "Tis all I can ask but please try," said Luna. Cadence turned and walked towards the door. "I know you don't agree with what we did but it was for the good of Equestria," said Luna. Cadence stopped with the door half open. "It may have been for the good of Equestria but that doesn't make it feel anymore right," said Cadence and then walked out and shut the door. Shining Armor was sitting on the couch. He had just spent the last few hours explaining the special protocols to his parents. He was starting to fall asleep when the sound of the door opening awoke him. "Special protocols?" asked Shining as Cadence closed the door. "How did you know?" said Cadence letting out a sigh as she laid down next to him. "I guessed from what mother told me," said Shining pulling Cadence closer. "It was exhausting," said Cadence," Celestia was heavily resistant. She tried to escape through a hole in the roof. I had to restrain her with magic while Luna administered the potion. Then as she fell asleep she verbally attacked Luna saying that she deserved far more punishment than a thousand years on the moon." "I'm surprised she didn't resist more," said Shining. "She wasn't eating or drinking and had been crying on and off for days," replied Cadence. "You had been trapped in that cave for days and you still helped defeat an entire army," said Shining. Cadence sighed again. "I guess your right... I need to talk to your parents. I need to convince them not to challenge the official story," said Cadence while looking around," Where are they?" "Dad took her out to an early dinner. Don't worry I already told them," said Shining. "What did they say?" asked Cadence. "Mom said something along the lines of she didn't deserve to love her and dad thought it was morally wrong but doesn't want to stir anymore trouble," said Shining. "How about you? How do you feel about this?" said Cadence. "I don't like it. I mean I'd never want anyone to take away my love for you. That said I understand why the special protocols are in place. A lot of ponies rely on the princesses to be able to do their job," said Shining. "I feel the same way," said Cadence closing her eyes. Shining Armor started to stroke her mane. Cadence gave a quiet coo of approval. After a few strokes he stopped. "Why did you stop?" said Cadence with a small groan. "There's something in your mane," said Shining pulling a small blue crystal out of her mane. Cadence opened her eyes and raised her head. "What is it?" asked Shinning. "Must be a little shard of one of the windows," said Cadence taking the crystal and throwing it away. "That makes sense," said Shining Armor as he started stroking Cadence's mane again. After a few minutes Cadence was fast asleep. ===================================================================== Luna stood on the balcony of Celestia's room. She strained a little as she moved the sun below the horizon and raised the moon in the darkening night sky. When she was done she stepped back inside and closed the door behind her. Inside Celestia still laid on her bed asleep. Her chest rising and falling slowly. Luna took a seat next to her and continued to watch her sleep. She would be awakening anytime now. As Luna sat waiting her mind began to drift. The voice of the sister rang through her head. You deserved far more than a thousand years on the moon... You monster... The last words repeating over and over in her mind. The hate that had been in her sisters eyes as she said those words. She had truly meant what she said. A few tears began to roll down her cheeks at the image. Before she could continue her thoughts a weak voice called out. "Luna..." said Celestia as she slowly opened her eyes. "Sister your awake," said Luna wiping her tears. "Luna what happened?" said Celestia slowly as she tried to sit up. "Careful sister. You were in a terrible accident," said Luna helping her sister up slowly. "Is everyone okay? What happened?" said Celestia when she was finally sitting up. "You and your student Twilight Sparkle were charging a spell. At some point the spell started to become unstable. You tried to stabilize it but the spell failed and the energy discharged into your horns. You were able to resist it but Twilight died almost instantly. There wouldn't have been enough time for her to feel the pain," said Luna placing a comforting hoof on her sister's shoulder. "I don't remember anything...," said Celestia looking down at her hooves. "It's okay. The doctor said amnesia would be a likely symptom," said Luna. "I need to write a letter to her family," said Celestia as she tried to summon a pen and parchment. When she couldn't she looked up and could see the tip of a magic blocker on her horn. "The magic blocker is on to make sure that you didn't hurt yourself and to help discharge the extra magic after the accident. You should be fine now. I'll go get the doctor so we can take that off. Then I'll fill you in on everything that you've missed," said Luna as she turned and walked out of the room. Author's Note It took long enough but a new chapter is finally here. Senior year has been super busy. Studying, applying for scholarships, robotics, and more leave with very little time to write. I've had about 30 minutes in the morning the last week or so and so I was finally able to finish this chapter. Also just so you know I never intended for the spell to remove all memories of Twilight. It's more like that scene from Frozen where troll takes away the magic except Cadence took away the love. Plus Archmage Ansrit totally called the "for the good of Equestria" line. Naming the chapter is seriously like the hardest part of writing. Lol Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections 1: I know how to fix the spell!“...from a true~ true~ friend~~!” the chorus held as the song came to a close. Ponies sure have a knack at flash mobs, I should research that sometime, Twilight thought, as she and her friends embraced in a hug. A mark of one’s destiny singled out alone fulfilled. “Wait a second... That’s it!” exclaimed Twilight, “I understand now, I know how to fix the spell!” Twilight and her friends rushed to the library in excitement. Twilight burst through the door. She grabbed Starswirl's journal and a quill with her magic and began to correct the spell. “From all of us together, together we are friends, with the marks of our destinies made one, there is magic without end,” Twilight recited out loud as she wrote it down, finishing the sentence off with a mighty period. They all put on their appropriate Elements and Twilight focused on her magic, casting the spell she had corrected. The Element of Magic released a burst of magic between the other Elements and then the other Elements fired a rainbow of colors at the startled Twilight. As she was enveloped by the light she realized this must be part of the spell. She calmed and waited for its to end. The light grew in luminosity until it was shining out of the library windows, then it stopped as quickly as it had begun. Rarity was the first to take a peek, followed by Fluttershy and the others. “What happened?” asked Fluttershy in a concerned voice. Pinkie screamed, fear spreading across her face. They all began to search the library frantically as the only thing remaining of their friend was a burnt spot on the library floor with a small trail of smoke rising from it. ===================================================================== “What in tarnation happened to her?” asked Applejack, looking dumbfoundedly at her friends. “She’s gone,” stated Fluttershy glancing to the burn mark on the floor. “Well we can see that!” exclaimed Rainbow Dash in Fluttershy's direction. Scared by the outburst from her friend Fluttershy tried her best to hide in her hair. “Now calm down everypony. This is no time to lose our heads, Twilight could be hurt,” said Rarity trying to be calm and collected. Though everypony in the room could she was starting sweat. “Agreed,” they said in unison. Everypony took deep breaths and tried to calm down as much as they could considering the fact that their friend had been replaced by a burnt pile of ash. “Now then, since this is a magic problem, let’s look at this the way Twilight would,” said Rarity, “Spike take a letter...” Spike grabbed a piece of parchment and a wet quill. “Dear Princess Celestia, Twilight corrected the situation created by the spell you sent to her and discovered the proper way to cast the spell, but when she cast it she disappeared and since you sent it we hoped you could help us. Please come as quick as possible. Your generous subject, Rarity.” Spike wrote down the note as quickly and legibly as possible, finishing he looked up at the group. “What are you waiting around for? Send the letter already!” said Rainbow Dash as she threw her hooves in the air. The letter disappeared in a wisp of green smoke and flew out the window. They all stood there waiting for a reply from Celestia. Spike looked around and was about to speak when... BURP! A small letter materialized and fell to the floor. Pinkie quickly grabbed it up, unrolled it, and started reading. “What does it say?” asked Fluttershy in a near whisper. They walked over when Pinkie’s hair deflated as if popped by a sharp needle. They came around and faced the letter, all it said was six words... “I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry...” They all stared in silence at the note unblinking as if at some moment the words might change or something new might make itself clear. Seconds seem to stretch in minutes and hours as they stared at the note. Applejack was the first to break out of the trance. “What the hay is that supposed to mean?” questioned Applejack as her worries began to rise again. “How am I supposed to know?” said Rainbow Dash trying to act calm and tough. “You don’t think we...” began Fluttershy as a grim look crossed her face. “No. No. Don’t be absurd,” Rarity’s expression changing to pure horror at the thought, “Celestia would never put Twilight or us in danger like that without us knowing,” shouted Rarity as sweat ran down her head. “I’m mean she wouldn’t let that happen right? RIGHT!?” Rarity screamed losing her cool, turning round and round to face everypony. Everypony else in the room focused on Rarity occasionally stealing a glance to the burn mark on the floor of the library. Everypony looked away when they heard a small sniffle from the corner of the library. They turned to see Spike standing near the stairs with tears in his eyes. “Ohh Spikey Wikey it’s okay Twilight is fine you’ll see...” said Rarity as gently as possible walking toward the little purple dragon. Spike broke into full tears. Rarity quickly ran the rest of the way over, embracing Spike in a warm hug. He hugged back as Rarity stroked the back of his head while whispering how it would all be fine, it would all be fine. Fear in him continued to rise as those words caused him recall the Want It, Need It incident. He felt like throwing up from the nervousness and fear. The other ponies also came and joined Spike in a hug. For a split of a split second they all felt like it might really be all fine, that maybe they were just jumping to the worst conclusions. Though all good things, no matter how nice, have to end as several knocks came from the door. Rainbow Dash flew over to open the door, on the other side stood Celestia and Luna with sad looks on their faces. Their hearts dropped as the princesses quietly entered the library. The ponies approached them and Rainbow rejoined her friends as the group gathered around the two princesses. Luna reached out a hoof as if about to speak, but was stopped by Celestia. The tension was so thick in the room that Pinkie Pie could have cut it with scissors. Celestia put on the most unemotional face they had ever seen. “My little ponies... Twilight is...,” Celestia paused her face broke and tears began to stream from her eyes, the other ponies feeling as if they couldn’t breathe, the room was dead silent and nopony took a breath as Celestia finished her words. “Twilight is dead...” Author's Note Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections
2: A New HomeIt is a good day, thought Celestia, if all goes to plan Twilight would be sending a letter anytime now. 3: Twinkle Twinkle Little StarCelestia had spent the flight back with Luna to Canterlot thinking about a way to mend the rift between her and Twilight's friends. 4: Equestria's Newest Princess"... Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections
5: Oh What a Beautiful MourningTwilight woke up feeling refreshed. 6: Family Reunion Part 1"Time to double check the checklist," said Twilight preparing to look over her preparations. Also in case you past the link that was in the story here it is again: "Goodnight Spike." Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections
7: Family Reunion Part 2Author's Note Yay finally a new chapter!
9: First Day of SchoolSpike sat bolt upright at the sound of his opening door. 10: AnswersNight Light looked around the train car. Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections
11: I Don't Want To ForgetAuthor's Note So much for updating more frequently.
Lol Edited(7/14/2015) Spelling and grammar corrections
1: I know how to fix the spell!“...from a true~ true~ friend~~!” the chorus held as the song came to a close.
