//-------------------------------------------------------// Date Night... -by Impressme- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Date Night! //-------------------------------------------------------// Date Night! I could see it burning in her eyes. The lust. The desire. She wanted it....No she NEEDED it. It was like this every week. Her, begging, pleading, and whining, and me, willing to give her almost anything she asked for. But this was a little too much. She needed to show a little more self restraint. "Oh darling why must you do this to me EVERY WEEK!?" Rarity asked, with the agony flowing out of her strained voice like silk. "Just let me have a bite! Just ONE!" I didn't say anything. I just stared at her while she squirmed in her chair, staring greedily at the large marble cake that I had laid out on a silver platter. "Could you PLEASE eat your food first? PLEASE!?" I pleaded, giving the posh pony the best set of puppy eyes I could muster. Rarity just squealed in frustration, slamming her hooves on the table like a filly, threatening to knock over her salad. "But I want it NOW!" She yelled, her frosty gaze threatening physical violence if it ever came to it. I responded with a little chuckle, finally surrendering to the laughter that was building up in the pit of my stomach. "Fine, but save me a piece alright?" I asked, laughing as I watched the sophisticated pony cut herself a generous slice of cake with trembling hooves. Today was date night, which was something I looked forward to every week. Just the two of us, with a bottle of apple cider, lit candles, and a beautiful mare to keep me company. I picked up my glass of apple cider, draining the rest of its contents with a greedy gulp, before I looked at Rarity, with a content smile plastered on my face. "Can I ask you something?" "Of course you can." Rarity replied, as she munched on a piece of marble cake. "What is it?" "Why did you choose me?" Rarity was about to take another bite, but the question seemed to catch her off guard, as she set her fork down on her plate. "Darling, what are you talking about?" Rarity asked, as she dabbed at her mouth with a white napkin. "Well I know that you dated that Fancy pants guy." I pointed out, as I rubbed with my chin with a thoughtful hand. "And then there was that dragon. What was his name?" "Spike. And I don't know what this has to do with anything." She huffed, with a small blush. "Why did you dump them? Why haven't you dumped me yet?" I asked, staring at her with curious eyes. "Well Fancy Pants was a decent stallion, but the popularity really began to wear me out." Rarity pointed out, with a hint of sadness in her blue eyes. "Every day, we would wake up at the crack of dawn, just to go out and meet his friends or attend some cheesy party. It was never JUST us so I came back home. The best decision I've made in a long time, to be quite honest." I simply nodded. I had heard that her relationship with the rich stallion had ended in failure, but I had never been told why. "And Spike?" Rarity chuckled a little, trying to cover her amused face with a white hoof. "I don't think that ANY mare would want to be with someone who wears a pink apron. Not exactly the dragon I was expecting." She finished, still giggling a little at the thought of a purple drake, parading around the boutique with a pink apron and a broom. "And me?" I asked, with a raised eyebrow. "You want me to be brutally honest or sugar coat it?" Rarity asked, before she took another bite of the marble cake that was still sitting on her plate. "I want you to be as painfully honest as possible. No mercy. Just the facts." I demanded, mentally preparing myself for the worst she could offer. "I was desperate." Rarity stated. What followed was silence, as Rarity munched on her cake and I sat in painful, uncomfortable silence. I was waiting for her to continue, yet she said nothing. "THAT'S IT!?" I exclaimed, staring at her in disbelief as she gave me a simple nod. "Yes. I was stuck in a rut and I thought you were cute. So, when you asked me out, I just went with it." Rarity answered, with a gentle smile. "And?" "I haven't looked back with any regrets. You never expected anything of me, asked me for anything, or caused me any trouble. But, whenever I'm stuck with any other stallion, I have to keep up the whole Canterlot routine. Watching what I eat, exercising, proper manners, and new dresses every week." She pointed out, listing pompous tasks she took on, in hopes of meeting the perfect stallion. "To go through all of that and come up short every year? I couldn't take it anymore." "Oh." I hung my head in shame, crestfallen at the revelation. It wasn't the good looks, the jokes, or even the cake that won her over. I was just the best of a bad situation. Bummer. Rarity hopped off of her seat, taking advantage of my moment of thought, and made her way under the table, poking her head up in between my legs. "But you. You were different." She whispered, as she hopped up into my surprised lap. "Besides my own friends, you were the only being in Ponyville who was happy just to be with me, no matter the circumstances." "Really?" I muttered, staring into her glowing eyes. "Of course. You put up with me whenever I fight with my sister, comfort me whenever I go a few days without a single sale, and you always listen to me whenever I come to you with the silliest problems." Rarity leaned forward and gave me a small peck on my cheek, which only aided in making my, already blushing cheeks, an even brighter shade of red. "And you know how to make a decent cake. I could never pass that up." "Yeah. For a pink monster, Pinkie Pie really knows her stuff." I replied, running my fingers through Rarity's purple mane. With that said, the candles finally died out with a fizzle, leaving us alone in a dark kitchen, with nothing but the moonlight filtering through an open window. Rarity let out a quiet, squeaky yawn, before she nuzzled my cheek to draw my attention from the ray of moonlight. "What about you? Don't tell me it love at first sight." "What can I say? I'm all about a decent flank." I joked, chuckling as the blue eyed marshmallow thumped me on my nose. "You pervert!" Rarity cried, faking a horrified look of disgust. "What was it? The good looks? My wonderful sense of fashion?" Rarity asked, giving me her best pout, with a quivering lower lip. "Was it because of the popularity?" "It was probably because you're classier than most human women." I answered, scratching her behind one of her white ears. "Earth isn't exactly packed with trust worthy people." "Interesting." Rarity let out squeaky yawn and hopped off of my lap. "Lets go to bed, darling. I'm exhausted." "Alright." We made our way out of the dark kitchen, and made our way up the staricase. I looked down at Rarity with playful eyes, as we walked down the quiet hallway. "So do you think that tonight's the night I get to see you in that bunny suit?" "Don't push your luck, darling."
