"Duh, no you can't."

"Yes I can!"

"Nuh uh."

"I'll prove it!"

Snips and Snails were arguing back and forth. The two colts were glaring at each other, but Snails easily towered over his very short friend. "Nuh uh! I can barely make some light, there's no way you can shoot lasers!" He snapped in his dopey drawl.

Snips snorted. "Can too! Just watch!" He closed his eyes and grit his teeth, flaring up his horn. A weak and pale orange light wrapped around it and glowed faintly, sparking as the little colt struggled to ignite it. The steady hum went from weaker to louder as sweat dripped from Snips's orange mane.

Snails looked away and saw the Cutie Mark Crusaders playing with a ball. His eyes followed it and soon it completely absorbed his attention. He watched as Scootaloo gave it a mighty buck and sent it flying rather quickly in his direction. "Gah!" He ducked and felt it whip past his mane, just barely missing him.

Snips could feel his magic weakening and was about to shut it down when the ball smacked him on the side of his head. The feeble light around his horn intensified and a bright beam of orange light shot from it, smashing into a tree and leaving a huge scorch mark. He let out a cry as his magic surged and he lost control, firing the burning light everywhere. He turned to try and avoid hitting anypony and nearly scorched Snails who jumped out of the way just in time, leaving it to go right past him and-

"SWEETIE BELLE!"

The cry ripped from his throat and he ran forwards. The little unicorn filly turned just as his shoulder connected solidly with her side and pushed them both away. The laser nicked Snails's back leg and the two unicorns were sent tumbling and rolling before skidding to a halt. All eyes were on them as Snails slowly got to his hooves, wincing when he put weight on his burned leg. He turned and saw the tree with a big burn mark on it and Snips was on the ground, gasping for breath. He turned to Sweetie Belle and saw that she was trembling, eyes wide and looked like she had just seen a ghost. He held out his hoof to her, a concerned frown on his face. "You ok?" He asked.

Sweetie Belle nodded and took his hoof, legs shaking as she tried to regain control of herself. Sadly, her limbs decided now was the time to turn to jelly and folded underneath her and she fell with a squeak.

Snails looked at her with more concern, her hoof still held in his. With care he lifted her slightly and slid himself under her, lifting her onto his strong back. He turned around just in time to see Snips running towards him. He gave his friend a glare, not something really scary, but one that read 'I'm not happy with you right now'. "I told you you couldn't shoot lasers! You only did because that ball hit you." He grumbled, starting to walk away.

Snips had to pick up the pace to keep up with his long-legged friend, stupid short legs. "Oh come on! I totally could've done it without that ball, I don't control magical surges!" He snapped.
