Spike was walking down to Sugarcube corner when all of a sudden he heard a loud shrieking sound coming from Mr. and Ms. Cake's house. Spike spotted Scootaloo inside of the building, Her face was totally covered in frosting and her lower body was caked in flour.
"Oh great job scootaloo..." said spike under his breath
Spike ran through the doors and stopped short to a flour encrusted, frosting covered scootaloo.
"Well apparently baking wasn't meant for me" Exhaled Scootaloo glumly
"Oh come on scoots you probably would have gotten it if you didin't drop a whole bag of flour onto your body."
"Oh how glad i am too see you Spike" interrupted Ms.Cake
"Could you help us sweep up this mess?"
"Oh, yeah sure Ms.Cake"
Spike took a broom off of the counter and started sweeping the floors while Scootaloo was trying to get the sticky frosting out of her mane.
"Could you help me spike? I mean find my cutie mark"
"I dunno you could probably find a job somewhere and be good at it, other than that I have no idea."
"I was thinking that if I tried hard enough I could join the royal Equestrian military.."
"Are you kidding me! No, your not going! it's too violent" exclaimed Spike.
"Says a fire breathing gold hording sharped tooth dragon."
"Hey that's different, but what your talking about is complete insanity. Your only a little foal."
"How dare you call me little! you little bucking dragon! I hate you"
"Is everything OK over there?" asked Ms.Cake
"Yeah yeah it's fine" said spike in a quiet fashion.
As Spike finished up cleaning Scootaloo's mess he walked over to the counter and started to clean out Scootaloo's mane.
"Hey look im sorry I called you little"
Scootaloo's eyes started to tear up and she started sobbing. Spike gave Scootaloo a hug and sat back down.
"It's my parents... I don't know who they are or where they are, Im all alone in Equestria. I want to find my Dad, my mom and my sister, that is if I even have one"
"Oh Scootaloo"
Spike escorted Scootaloo outside of sugarcube corner holding two cupcakes. He gave one to Scootaloo and said he had to go to Twilight so he could help her with her studies.
Once Spike entered the library he stared out at the window for a few hours judging if he should help Scootaloo or not. She was , after-all a very good friend. It was poring rain outside, Spike just made some hot tea for Twilight and himself, the wind was pushing the branches of the library back and forth, the floor boards creaked and gave a familiar sense of security to Spike. Everything was calm and collective, not a thing was stirring. The rain was hitting the sidewalk making large muddy puddles. The birds were hiding in trees and pony's were inside of there houses. Spike stood up and walked over to his bed, he lied down and fell asleep into the winds ever cradling motion.
Spike woke up to the sound of chirping birds and Twilight running amid the house saying something about a test. Spike drowsily walked over to the kitchen, pulled out a mug saying "Good morning sunshine!" on it, he poured water into a pot and hung it over a fire, once it started boiling he threw in a few coffee grinds and mixed it up, he poured the coffee through a filter and then into his mug. Once Spike finished off his coffee he dumped the mug into his sink and told Twilight that he needed to run a few errands, or in other words help Scootaloo. Spike walked over to Scootaloo's house and pounded the door.
"Coming, hold on Spike!"
Scootaloo ran out with her saddle bags and a few canteens of water.
"OK im ready!" Scootaloo exclaimed
"For?"
"Going over to the Equestrian military outpost and sign up to be a guard!"
"Well I did promise I would help you..."
"Come on lets go!"
It took a few hours to get to the outpost, this was probably the largest military outpost in Equestria. The ramparts of the outpost were large, the walls were made of solid stone and the guards were wearing shining white armor. The armor glared into spikes vision and he became quite annoyed by it, but Scootaloo's jaw dropped in awe as the captain of the guards (Shining armor) walked by her.
"W-Wa-Was that?"
"Yeah that was Shining Armor" glumly said Spike.
They walked into the thick walls of the outpost, and when they entered it was filled with military officers and royal guards.
"SIGNUP IN 5 MINUTES!" The loudspeakers boomed
"Come on Spike we have no time!"
"OK OK calm down!"
They walked over to the signup area, Spike saw some violent colts. Spike even saw wanted criminals there that were there for drafting.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Yeah!! I might get my cutie mark!"
They walked over to the signup table.
"And your name good dragon?"
"Oh im not signing up sorry.."
"Here here here! down here!!"
"what is it that you want kid cant you see I am trying to talk to a dragon here!!!!"
"Bu-but.."
Scootaloo backed up and started to cry
"Im sorry I -I didn't mean anything what did I do wrong?"
"GET OUT OF MY FACE"
"Spike please help... please"
"So yer name is Spike huh?"
The recruiter wrote Spikes name down into the paper.
"What!! why did you do that!!! why did you write my name down!!!"
"It's trick of the trade dragon, we don't want any little scrawny blank flanks to be in the Royal Equestrian military, we want able bodied colts and dragons! just like you!"
Spikes head became all fuzzy and fogged. Like he was just hit by a train, Spikes vision went black and he couldn't see anything, all of his muscles tensed and he passed out.
