Two fillies trotted up ominous stone steps. Blossom was a green pegasus with a deep red mane. Malt was a unicorn, she had light brown fur and a striped white and dark brown mane. Although best friends, neither knew what fate had in store for them, but they only knew one thing, The professor needed some assistants!
"Malt, how long is this going to take. My parents want me home by dinnertime." Blossom groaned. Malt turned around started bouncing backwards up the steps.
"Come on Blossom! Don't be such a downer! You know what my mother always says!" Malt was about to break into song, Blossom interrupted
"Just because you look up to Pinkie Pie, doesn't make her your mom" Eyerolls ensued
"Well then what about YOUR mom? She's so shy its a wonder you were born!"
"Don't talk about my mom that way. She's allowed to have kids if she wants." Blossom snapped
"Hey, calm down. What does your dad always say? 'throw another gumleaf on the barbie!' hahaha!"
"Stop with the stereotypes Malt, or ill just go home."
"Oh fine, but you really need to learn to take a joke!"
"Whatever, let's just get this over with." Blossom grunted.
As the fillies reached the top of the stone staircase, which was unusually long, there was a large wooden door attached to a steel frame. Below them was a very large mat labelled "welcome". On the door was a large rusted door knocker, with a sign saying "Do not touch" in huge red letters.
"Well, lets go in!" Malt insisted
"I dunno Malt, looks kind of dangerous.. Maybe we should look for another way in?" Blossom looked around for an open window.
'Pfft, don't be such a worry wart. I'm sure there's nothing to be afraid of!" Malt leaned in to grab hold of the door knocker
"Wait!" Blossom tackled Malt to the floor
"What is it?"
"Don't you see the large sign specifically saying NOT to touch the knocker?" Blossom flew up to the sign and lifted it down "See? Do. Not. Open. It says it right underneath the 'don't touch the door knocker' lettering"
"Well then what do YOU suggest, if you're so smart?"
You are at your first crossroads, reader. Should the fillies ignore the sign? Or should they do the smart thing and knock on the door? But then again. Blossom could be right, something might be wrong. you could just look for another entrance. Be forewarned, some of your intentions might be noble, but think thoroughly before selecting. Things are not always as they appear.
