(This takes place a few years before the Return of Nightmare Moon)
Shatter Shield was just a young foal living in Canterlot but not every family there was apart of the Canterlot elite. His mother is a earth pony and his father was a pegasus pony who was part of the Royal solar guard before going AWOL and abandoned his family. If things weren't bad enough already, Shatter Shield seemed to have the innate ability to attract trouble to him where ever he went. He was the target of all the bullies at his school at one time or another, was getting into fights multiple times per week, and has also been witness to quite a lot of violent street crimes at a very early age. Life really doesn't seem to feel like cutting him a break any time soon.
