"Wake up!" yelled the strange voice, "Scootaloo! Wake up!" I decieded to listen and wiped my eyes and looked up to find Applebloom standing there. "Applebloom? What are you doing here?"
"Ah was gonna to the boutique to get Sweetie and you were just layin' here!" I felt embaressed. I was going to tell her about my dad and my mom, but I couldn't work up the nerve. Applebloom was looking down at me waiting for an answer, so I pulled a random excuse out of thin air. "Uh.. When I was walking home last night I got tired, and I couldn't go any farther so... I just fell asleep here.." Applebloom looked confused. I couldn't think of anything better so I hoped that she would be reasonable with me.
"Well then." She went on, "You wanna go wit me to the botique?" She said. I threw on a fake smile and said. "Sure lets go." We trotted for a while when we reached sugarcube corner. Applebloom looked in the doors of it, then turned to me. "Hey wanna catch sumin to eat?" I felt my pockets, and then frowned. "I don't have any bits." Applebloom shot a smile my way. "It's okay, ah got some bits from helpin' AJ with the farm." Applebloom was always there for me in the darkest of days.
"Just pay me back when ya' can!" She said with a smile. But come to think of it, I already owe her tons of money... Anyways, we walked in when Mr.Cake was standing behind the counter. "What can I get you two girls this morning?" He said. Applebloom turned to me. I could tell by her expression she meant she wanted muffins and milkshakes, so Applebloom turned back and said, "Me and Scoots will have two muffins and two milkshakes."
"Okie dokie you two, that'll be 4 bits." Applebloom reached in her pocket and slapped the bits on the counter. "There ya go!" She said proudly. Mr.Cake collected the bits and handed us our food and shakes. We both walked over to the table where we sat and began eating. The muffin I was eating was the one I usually get, a vanilla and choclate swirl with blueberry chunks. I know it sounds weird, but it reminds me of my mom. When I was little, she gave me muffins of that flavor.
Applebloom slurped the rest her milkshake after she ate her muffin. She wiped off her mouth and looked up at me. "Alright Scoots, you done?" I had hardly finished. I only took a sip of my milk shake and had only eaten half of my muffin. "Mind if I get it to go?" I asked her. She shrugged as if she didn't care. Mr.Cake had over heard me and gave me a bag to put my muffin in.
We gave our goodbyes to the Cakes and we set back on our route back to the Carosel. We walked by many ponies and gave them our greetings as we passed. When we reached the boutique we caught Spike on his way out. "Howdy Spike!" Applebloom expressed. He didn't notice us at first, but he turned to us when he heard Applebloom, "Oh hey girls! Whatcha doin' here?" He asked. Applebloom answered with a stern face."None of your buisness, the Cutie Mark Crusaders have classified business." Spike rolled his eyes. "Alright you two. Have fun."
We knocked on the door. Afterwards we heard an angry voice come from inside. "Go away Spike, I don't need your help anymore!" Applebloom looked at me in confusion. "Uhh Rarity? It's me and Scootaloo." She then proceeded to open the door and looked down at us. "I am so sorry you two. Spike has ben driving me CRAZY today. Anyways, what do you two need?"
"Sweetiebelle..uh..please..?" Rarity rolled her eyes then smiled. "It's okay, you don't need to kiss my hooves, it's just spike has ben driving me the wall today..." She then proceeded to turn around to shout. "Sweetiebelle! Your friends are here!" I heard hoof steps get closer until Sweetiebelle was standing by her sisters side. I thought to myself, You lucky bitch, you and your stupid family, but all I could do pull out a fake smile. Sweetie looked up at Rarity. "When do I need to be home." Rarity scruffed her head. "Around nightfall." Sweetie smiled.
"Alright gals. We got some serious talkin' to do." Me and Sweetie looked at each other. I wonder what she means, I thought. She stopped in her tracks and looked around worrily. "Alright. It's about....." She paused for a moment. "You Scoots..." I immediatly became terrified. But as Rainbow Dash taught me, I need to stand up to every challenge you can. So I just acted as if I don't care. "Alright." I said with a confused expression.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We reached the clubhouse in about 15 minutes top. I didn't know why Applebloom wanted to meet so early. Usually, we met around mid day, not sunrise. That's why this meeting seemed different. I don't know what was coming, but I was ready. My mind started racing though.
But what if it's about my parents?
Shut up Scoots. You can do it if they ask.
But I'm to scared to even think about it.
Think about Rainbow Dash! Get some guts and don't be a softy!
Forget Rainbow Dash! She doesn't know anything about mom or dad!
Does that matter! Stand up! Don't be a faggot.
I swear to god. I can't do it!
My thoughts were interupted by Applebloom, "Hey! Scoots! Come on! We asked you a question!" I shook my head. "Uhh.. What?" Sweetiebelle frowned and walked over to me and whispered in my ear, "We know Scoots..." I shrieked. What? How do she know? Uh.. Maybe she's talking about something else. "What are you talking about?" I said, shoving Sweetiebelle away from my side. Applebloom pointed here hoof torwards the ceiling. "We know about her." I pulled back. No, no, no. They don't know. I started to cry. Applebloom went on. "We know that your Grandmama died..." I kept my face the way it was, but my inside froze with the nice cooling feeling of relief.
"Huh? My grandma?" Applebloom shook her head. "Yup. Pinkie told us, and don't tell her I said this but she said shes throwing a party called 'feel better soon Scootaloo' party." I felt happy about a party, but I had no feeling towards my grandma. Heck, what do I care? I've never even met her! "Hey can I tell you something..." Whoa. Where the hell did that come from. Applebloom looked confused. "Sure Scoots, what's up?" Oh no. "Um... I.."
Scootaloo! You dumbass! Shut up!
No! Fucking do it!
No! No more! I'll ruin my entire life!
Beads of sweat started rolling down the side of my face. I don't know what to do! I sighed. I guess since I've gone this far. Might as well finish it... I sighed again. Another tear rolled down my cheek. "Scootaloo. What's going on?" Applebloom and Sweetie look confused. I wiped off my tears and took a deep breath. "My..My parents.." Applebloom started speaking. "Scoots... What's wrongs." My eyes started to fill with tears when I started sharing my story.
"Alright...Here goes... When I was a filly my mom and dad were the only people I had. They were everything. Even though I couldn't talk, but I could understand. They told me how much they loved me. They always held me, but some nights they would fight... and... and... it would make me cry..." It was getting harder and harder for me to speak. My throaght started to tighten from being so sad.
"About.. 2 years later, my dad started beating my mom... and... and... and one day... He hit her.... Just a little too hard." Applebloom drew in a breath of astonishment. I drew in a breath and began speaking. "She died... that.. night.... and.. and... and.... My dad looked after me since then. We moved away from Cloudsdale and moved here to Ponyville. Where he bought a shak." I could tell that Sweetie and Applebloom were starting to cry a little with me.
"Ever since I could talk I was always asking my dad to enroll me in flight school, but he didn't listen. He was always drunk. The only thing he ever did for me is gave me a present for my 4th birthday." I looked over at my scooter along with my other friends, "and that was my scooter. I guess that's why my name is Scootaloo. I think my dad changed it... But I don't know. One day, he finally listen to my prayers about school. He took me to Ms.Cherilee's school for fillies, and that was where I met you two."
Applebloom and Sweetie smiled a smile of warmth. "But later that day when I got home to my ho...er..shak. He had left a note saying 'Im sorry Scootaloo, but I can't take the guilt anymore. I have gone to the Everfree, and I'm never coming back.' Five days later. An earth pony and an unicorn found him in the woods... Dead..." I had ended my story. they were the first ponies I had ever told.
"But I have to make one thing clear. You can't tell anypony." Applebloom shook her head, and then Sweetie blurted something out. "Scootaloo! Where do you sleep?" I looked down and frowned. "Just anywhere. On the ground, school yard, but mostly in the newspaper room at school, ya'know. When no one is using it.." Applebloom looked at me. "Why don't cha use the clubhouse?" I rolled my eyes. "Because the door is always locked." Applebloom darted another statement back. "You cudda just asked me." Frustration started rushing through me.
"If I asked, you would have wondered why I wanted to sleep in here!" Applebloom shut her mouth and nodded as if she knew she wasn't supposed to say anything. "All I ever wanted was a family! A friend! All those nights I wish I could be tucked in a bed but couldn't! and it's all my fault!" Sweetiebelle started to shoot statements back. "Scootaloo! You need to calm down!" The frustration within caused me to send a back-hoof to her face. The slap was delivered and she fell down, crying.
"See what I did?" I started to burn with frustration. "I can't even keep my hands to my self." The only thing I could think to do was to get the fuck out of there. I turned around, picked up my scooter and darted out of the clubhouse. I knew that today might be the day I get kicked from the Cutie Mark Crusaders, but I didn't give a shit. I just kept going on my scooter.
I kept going and going until I couldn't go any farther. By the time I stopped I was near the Everfree forest. When I stopped I looked into the woods and thought, now what do I do. My only option left in life is to either die or be shipped away to a orphanage. A loud boom of thunder crashed behind me, spooking me until I entered the forest.
