Back when Applejack left the farm it was all calm, the sun was up and the trees whistled with the wind

Applejack waited for the train at the station whistling an old tune that Granny Smith sung to her late at night if she had a nightmare

"hush now quiet now it's time to lay your sleepy head hush now quiet now it's time to go to bed"

that lullaby was as old as Canterlot it always brought her to a piece of mind an she needed it now more than ever, going from Ponyville to Manehatten is a big step for a filly

Granny Smith insisted that she go with her but Applejack refused she told Granny Smith she was trustworthy enough for the journey.

But she was starting to eat those words.

She heard the train coming in, she turned to the candy colored locomotive as it slowly put on the brakes and finished with a hiss from underneath the carriage she walked over, handed over her ticket and sat down on oe of the comfy seats

she put her pack on her lap it was nothing special it was just a rag tied onto a stick

she untied it and checked if everything was still inside

It had the bare essentials some food a scarf for if it gets cold and a precious treasure she couldn't live without

a picture of the part of her family that lives at sweet apple acres

it always brought her to a piece of mind

she put the picture back, tied it up and put it in her lap.

She sat in the chair, relaxed and stared outside the window and watched the clouds roll lazily abov the grassy fields for the rest of the trip.

As she came closer to Manehatten the scenery drastically changed it was gettig dark and it started to rain.

when the train stopped Applejack hopped out and was welcomed by a freezing downpour she shook it off and tried to find some shade from the rain

she hid in the train station but the guard shooed her away

"hey kid you can't be here!"

Applejack didn't want any trouble on her first night in manehatten

"b-but sir"

the guard put up his hoof

"no buts i need you gone from here"

AJ backed out of the door

she was back to square one, for a young foal this would be frightening but Applejack was smarter at surviving than most other foals

"right ah should probably find someplace to stay dry" she thought to herself

she knocked on numerous doors but either no one answered or ponies didn't bother to answer and was just shooed away again so that idea was gone

but there is always a silver lining there were alleyways everywhere to hide in even though they looked frightning anything was better than the freezing rain

she splashed to the one across the street but she never did see the two hooded ponies hiding in the darkness watching her.

when she first put her hoof on the sidewalk she heard something hitting the floor and hoof steps receding away into the splashing of into the rain quickly she spun around

now she was panicking

"h-h-hello is a-anypony out there?"

She waited for an answer but heard nothing, all that was heard was the patting of the raindrops.

She was breathing heavily her chest stretching in and out after staring into the distance she turned around and nearly ran into two black hooded ponies.

The sight of them made Applejack jump in fright but she was silent to scared to make a noise but the thing that really scared her were the evil grins on their faces something about them made them menacing

"hey litle one" the pony on the left said in a cold voice "what are you doing here this late at night"

Applejack tried to act brave but to no avail

"a-a-ahm going to s-s-see mah family here in Manehatten"

Applejack was visibly shaking, almost crying with every sentence she was warned about bad ponies that live in the big cities and she knew it was true she could see a shine under the right ones wing

"p-please don't hurt me sar"

the pony on the left lifted his head up and looked towards the pony to the right and started snickering "HAH" the pony exclaimed his outburst blocked by the rain so nopony could hear it

"what kind of question is that?"

while the pony on the left was talking the one on the right went behind her in case she tried to escape.

The pony came in on Applejack's face and whispered "you must be new here because it's our job to hurt ponies.

He nodded to the pony behind her and he pulled out the knife she saw before.

"don't worry this will be over quick"

he started laughing like he was watching a good play first it was a quiet chuckle then into roaring laughter

Applejack hunkered down and curled up thinking of her family and how she will never see them again tears flowed down her cheeks while she shut her eyes.

When the pony was about to drop the knife a stallions shout was heard

"HEY"

the pony with the knife turned around only to be greeted by a buck to the muzzle not a sound came from him as he hit the floor, AJ didn't even look over to what was going on

"WHAT YOU AGAIN" the one pony left shouted

he tried to run away but was cut short by a magical barrier that slammed him into a dumpster

Applejack gasped as the body of the pony fell in front of her, she jumped up backed away and bumped into the stallion she turned around so that she was facing the stallion she as frozen again unable to move no matter how much her brain screamed

"hey kid are you alright?"

He bent down to Applejack's height to try and comfort her and he extended his hoof out

Applejack snapped out of her frozen mental state and started to run away in the opposite direction after meeting the other ponies she didn't want anyone to go near her

in her frantic running she tripped over one of the ponies broken bodies she looked behind to see the body and saw the looming silhouette of the stallion coming a bit closer.

It caused Applejack to faint her body had enough she let out a small sigh and just slunk to the floor.

the stallion stood over Applejack's unconscious body and lifted her up with his magic

"I better bring you inside" he thought aloud

he also noticed a pack, a simple stick and rag together he thought that it was hers so he brought that along as well

he rushed back to his building and entered his own apartment.

He lay down Applejack on his couch and wrapped her in a blanket

he got another towel soaked in warm water and put it on her forehead and he left her on the couch he could do nothing else

"we'll see how you go tomorrow"

he went back to his room fell onto his bed and drifted off to sleep knowing he just helped a little filly survive the night
