White Shadow is a witch. She had kept to herself for years since ponies have apparently persecuted witches for centuries based on the rumors that witches are evil and want to destroy society.

Unlike other secluded witches, though, she decides to leave her practice to explore the outside world, because she dreams of meeting the right stallion and starting a family-abandoning every aspect and guideline of her faith, in which she would have been in a forced marriage.

However, her religious mother is determined to "save" her daughter and wants to rid her of any outside influence, leaving White Shadow finding herself in a fight for her freedom, her lovers, new families, and her own life…
