The life and times of Bright Storm

Prologue

Princess Celestia was preparing for the final stand between pony and griffin! She was currently in a large tent made of a fine purple material. The ponies had been fighting the griffins for the past ten years, all because those greedy griffins wanted more land and with no good reason for them to have it, Celestia refused. That was when the griffin emperor, Titus, declared war upon all ponies.

The princess was donned in full body armor made from gold and studded with large gems. These jewels weren't just for show however, they were all enchanted with a spell to heal the wearer if he/she happened to become injured on the battlefield. Outside she could hear all of her soldiers preparing themselves.

They were stationed on the north side of an almost completely leveled city known as Dodge city, meanwhile on the opposite side, the griffins were setting up their weapons. Mainly siege weapons and anti-magic fields!

Celestia was becoming impatient. she knew the war horns of the griffins would signal the start of the gruesome, final standoff between griffin and pony!

About 10 minutes later she heard the bone rattling sound of the large horns on the opposite side of the city.

The princess of the sun made one last check on her armor's enchantments and parted the curtains on the royal pavilion to reveal the army of pegasi, unicorns and earth ponies amassed before her! She made her way to the front of the formation thinking 'If only Luna were here...'.

Not only had Luna been the better warrior than her but the past 980 years had been rather sad. Everyday she yearned for her sister to return but she knew it was not yet the right time for her return!

Celestia pivoted on her hooves to face the army before her. "This is it mares and stallions! This is the final push! The scum that are the griffins will tremble before us as we tear through them! They will shake like frightened rabbits as we approach them! WE WILL SUCCEED!!! Shouted Celestia in the best royal canterlot voice she could muster. The soldiers cheered deafeningly! She held up her sword and shouted "CHARGE!"

The bodies of both Pony and Griffin were littered around the battlefield! Her coat and armor were stained red with the blood of the enemy! The survivors still standing were engaged in bloody fights around her and before her stood emperor Titus himself! His fur was a mottled brown and the feathers on his wings was black. There was a large scar running across his face.

"Ah, Celestia. How nice of you to join me." He said mockingly, smirking.

"This ends NOW, Titus!" She replied angrily

"And so it shall, with your demise! Let us fight!"

"And with that he unsheathed the large blade at his side. It was a two-handed sword a jewel encrusted pommel!

Celestia summoned a blade of pure magic.

Titus swung widely at Celestia, to which she replied by parrying and thrusting with her own weapon! Titus Blocked it and countered with a slash at her flank! The princess tried to block the sword but was too slow and suffered a long slash across her cutie mark! She winced.

They spent the next few minutes exchanging a flurry of blows! During this Celestia gained several cuts and Titus lost a wing, he didn't slow down however! There was a sudden explosion huge explosion to Celestia's right which distracted the emperor just long enough for her to thrust into his stomach!

"T-This c-cannot be!" He muttered hoarsely. Celestia puled her magical blade out of the Emperor, allowing a spurt of blood to escape the gaping wound, drenching Celestia in his blood! After a few seconds he toppled forward. He was dead before he hit the ground!

The solar Princess dispelled her sword spell and sat herself a few meters away from the corpse of the former Emperor.

A stallion clad in the blue armor of the lieutenants of the royal guard galloped up to her! " Princess! Twilight Velvet has fallen!" he announced worriedly.

"Take me to him, NOW" Celestia replied sternly. Silver Armour was the Captain of the royal guard and a good friend of hers.

She followed the lieutenant to a stretcher at one of the medical tents scattered around the warzone! The captain lay there, bleeding profusely from a long slash across his side! There was a nurse by his side.

"He passed about five minutes ago." She murmured sadly.

"He died honorably." Said the princess. "And his death was not in vain. Storm Surge. Who was he fighting with?"

"valor Sword and Nova Spark. Valor is mortally wounded however." Replied the lieutenant.

"Send Nova to inform his family!" And with that Storm Surge trotted off at a brisk pace to inform Nova Spark that he was to break the news to Armour's family. She then pointed a hoof at a random guard. "You! Gather a team of pegasi to investigate the source of the explosion!"

"Yes, Princess!" the Pegasus took off.

The recon team returned an hour later. One of the pegasi carrying a unicorn foal.

"You really think a FOAL was the cause of that explosion?!" She asked irritably

"Princess. All due respect but...IT'S BUCKING EYES WERE GLOWING WHITE!" the pegasus carrying the foal hissed angrily.

"Point taken."Celestia replied. "You may leave the foal with me. Dismissed" Celestia took the foal in her magic and lifted it over to her.

"Yes ma'am!" They all saluted and trotted off back to their respective tents. The foal had a white coat with a red mane and tail. It's eyes were a light shade of blue and it was a unicorn. and after closer inspection she found 'it' was a he.

"I think I shall name you....Bright Storm!"

Chrysalis felt a sudden magic spike in the dodge area. "What is this?" She asked herself. After using a spell to locate the source of the spike, she found a foal. "How intriguing..."
