It was like any other day in Ponyville; warm, sunny, calm. Twilight Sparkle opened her window to let in the fresh afternoon air. "The pegasi must have done a good job with the clouds today," Spike commented as he looked out the window. He was right; no cloud was in sight. Twilight smiled and stepped outside. Immediately, a horrible smell greeted her nose. Annoyed, Twilight covered her snout with her hoof. "Where is that smell coming from?" she asked, looking around for a source of the disgusting aroma. Twilight looked to the left, and regretted it instantly. There stood a large beast resembling a dragon; its scales black and charred; eyes piercing red; claws razor-sharp; bearing a mace-like tail. The beast roared and its soulless eyes peered over at Twilight. It roared again and began stomping her way.
