//-------------------------------------------------------// World of Light -by Pyro Storm- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue World of Light Dry wind blew sand into my face, even from at this distance. We would reach the wasted lands in about a day. I could smell the deadness, it made me sick. My horn glowed a soft white, conjuring up a sort of pointed bubble. The dry wind, going at about ten knots, was pushed aside by the shield. Wow, I never thought the wasted lands were...This bad... I thought to myself, frowning lightly. I could see the plain quite easily from our mountain view, the ground went from brown grass to cracked earth. I could see a few grey shrubs, and knew the ground was littered with bones. “What now, Light?” I heard Surprise say. Her puffy gold mane contrasted with the dark armor she wore over her white coat. I shifted inside my own armor, its weight pulled down on my back. “Tell Posy we're traveling tomorrow at first light,” I said, continuing to frown. I turned slightly look at her,  my blue eyes watched her calmly, her blue eyes watched mine, her wings spread in irritation. “Seabiscuit won't like that,” She frowned, tossing her mane with a shake of her head. "He prefers to sleep in." "Yeah, and? I'm not sure how far ahead we are, and I don't want to be caught by those..monsters." I said with a small shudder. Those things were nasty! I droped the spell, the sandy winds returned full force. She sighed, chuckling a little, "I thought we dubbed them dark lights? Cause, they, uh..." She trailed of muttering under her breath, then spoke up cheerfully. "Oh yeah! 'Cause they do the opposite of glow, so they are dark light! Right?" I sighed, shaking my head as she trots toward camp, humming a tune under her breath. The tune was catchy, and... Nonsensical. Sometimes I wonder about that pony. No wait, I don't. I moved over towards my group, Shaking my head tiredly. Surprise was talking to Posy, the earth pony's pink mane dangling down to her soft yellow hooves, she motioned towards Seabiscuit with her head, the pony in question munching on his namesake. I could hear Surprise's reply clear as a sunshine on a cloudless day... "Nah! he loves getting up early!" By Celestia, I loved that pony! The sound the wind made whipping through the trees became slightly shriller, more like a scream then a ghostly howling. Okay, thatis creepy. I turned my ears outward, listening. The wind picks up, the screaming sound it made became loud enough to disturb my group, who shifted nervously, all thirteen of us shuddered simultaneously. "Is it jus' me or does tha' sound kinda like them dark lights?" Seabiscuit asked nervously. "Um...Maybe t-their here? Um...Unless y-you think that's only the wind? Um...B-but, if you think it isn't, t-that's fine too..." Posy had asked fearfully, her voice a soft murmur. SCREECH! A sound like claws on a blackboard reached our ears. "Ponyfeathers! I thought we had more time!" I shouted, frustration tearing at me. The dark lights, as named by Surprise, reminded me of the windigos in the Hearths Warming Eve pageant. Only smaller, and darker they were made of dark! "Yo, Lavy! Say, how many do ya think I can get?" Surprise asked, standing on her hind legs, flapping her wings slowly, a crossbow resting on her forelegs, as she set a bolt in it. "As many as you can get." I reply evenly. "Hey... Did ya ever finish that spell?" She was talking about a spell I was developing, to make the dark lights solid. Normally when we attacked, most of our swings went right through them, but the pegasi could use cloud magic to solidify them somehow. "Nope." Meanwhile... THOP! A single bolt slammed a Dark light in the forehead, the monster fell to the ground, dead. I shake my head. "That, is a lot of windigos..." Hundreds were swarming the rise we had camped on, headed straight for us. "Retreat! There are too many!" We turned on our hooves, running from them, the sound of wings beating hit my ears. "That was a slow, and not to mention boring, battle! Shame on you!" Surprise scolded, clucking her tongue. "Uh...Shame on who? I question, I slightly dreaded the answer, but this was Surprise, how bad could it be? "Why, the author of course!" "What have you been reading?!" "Dunno!' I groan, Seabiscuit is trying to drag Posy, who was staring at us in shock. I shouted at the top of my lungs to get their attention, "Group huddle! Around me!" they surrounded me quickly, I charged up my horn, it cast a soft white, which quickly intensified, it nearly turned my lavender coat white, I powered up the spell. "Ready?! Teleporting in, three! Two! One!" I say one just as we reach Seabiscuit and Posy,  the magic engulfed the whole group in the spell, I fired it off. FLASH! POP! We disappear, only to reappear a short distance away. a few bruises blossom on my coat. I nod slowly, I needed to enter... The magic realm. "Surprise! cover me." She nodded in understanding, the rest of my teammates gathered nearby, ready to support me, shutting my eyes, I sank into my mind... And entered a black area, filled with tiny, twinkling lights, surrounding me were a multitude of colored lights, behind me were blotches of solid dark that were catching up quickly. In front of me, a huge pool of white light lay, I reached forward and dipped into it... And my eyes shot open, they glowed with a fierce white light, I had felt a sensation that felt like wings, kind of, i touched my friends with the tips of the invisible feathers, the light around my horn had become more solid, as I focused on forward. FLASH! POP! We disappeared a second time, leaving the dark lights behind... Forever[i/].
