Fyrena

Load Full StoryI intertwined my hand with hers and whispered, “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” She took a deep breath and whispered back, “Beautiful is an understatement.” I smiled in agreement. The sun was rising over the snowcapped mountains and it looked simply amazing. For some reason, it made me think of my mother. The orange glow reminded me of her long, flowing hair, the snow brought images of her huge, soft wings, and the yellow core woke memories of her happiness that seemed to radiate off of her and make everyone else happy.
“Fire! Fyrena! Earth to Miss Fire!” My girlfriend’s voice brought me back to reality. Pacific was looking at me with her blue eyes, bright and full of life and worry. “You’re crying, babe...” She pointed out. I wiped at my cheek where the tear of blood was resting and rubbed it in between my index finger and thumb. “Are you okay, Fire?” she asked with worry in her eyes. I hugged her reassuringly. “Yeah, I was just thinking about Mom. Her and I used to watch the sunrise together, too. But, I’m okay.”
She looked me over, and smiled hugging me back. Her long, blue, and white hair was a little bit tossed up from laying her head on my shoulder and she was wrapped up in my black jacket sitting with me on the hood of my car. She was the most beautiful thing in the whole world, and I had her all to myself. “I love you, Fire,” she said squeezing me lightly. I squeezed her back and said, “I love you, too, sweetness.” I began running my fingers through her hair and when she looked up, I leaned in to kiss her. Just then, my phone started vibrating in my pocket. I huffed and pulled it out to look at the screen. Sure enough, “Chalence” was glowing on the front in red letters. Reluctantly, I answered.
“Hello?” He was drunk. I knew it right off the bat. “Fire, young’n, you’s ground’d. Get home. Don’t drag your lesb’n bitch back here, neither. Got it, princess?” I sighed and rolled my eyes, “Yeah, Dad, I got it,” and with that I hung up. Pacific, with that curious kitten-like look in her eyes, asked, “Chalence?” I nodded. “As drunk as ever. And apparently, you’re my bitch now.” I finished with a wink. She hopped off of the hood of my car and wiggled her butt at me. “You know you love it.” she said, throwing herself into a giggle-fit. “I’m only with you for your butt, we’ve discussed this!” I shot at her with a smile. This only made her laugh more. I followed her. Wrapping my arm around her waist and pulling her to me, I said, “I love you, Pacific Michaelson. More than anything in the universe. You are the reason I breathe, the reason I wake up every morning. I want to be with you for the rest of my life.” She looked at me with a faint smile, taking everything I just said in.
Before she could respond, I pressed my lips against hers. She went from tense and reserved to putty in my hands. She slid her arms around my neck and moved her lips with mine. I broke the kiss and smirked. She had her eyes closed, lips slightly parted, and her face was red. “Fire, you know what happens when you kiss me like that! You gotta learn to control yourself.” she gave me a hug and slid into the passenger’s seat. I laughed and walked around to the driver’s side door, opened it, sat down and looked at her. “You need to stop being adorable, then. That is when I’ll stop kissing you like that.” She looked back at me, stuck her tongue out, and put her seatbelt on.
“You got to get home before your dad throws a fit and grounds you for real.” In agreement, I started the car and headed down the road towards Pacific’s house. After 15 minutes of a car ride full of laughing and flirting, we arrived at Pacific’s house. She leaned over the gap in between our seats and kissed me on the cheek. “Be good, Fire. I’ll see you in the morning.” I kissed her forehead and said, “I love you. Have sweet dreams. Don’t forget to text me!” I watched her until she was safely inside and headed home. “Gosh, I sure am excited to get home...” I murmured to myself sarcastically.
