Werebrony's Interpretation
The very begining of his life started out 1000 some years ago during the time of Princess's Celestia and Luna ruled Equestria. As a child Star Swirl was a shy unicorn and most likely had no friends at all. This could have been due too the social rift that was occuring as seen in the time period. All three races held different social castes much like the Indian Caste system of Earth. There was the noble class of unicorns, the warrior class of pegasi, and the lowly peasents of earth ponies. Star Swirl's upbringing might have been related to how the three races never assosiated with another other than mutual gain. Star Swirl as a child might have had a case of Asperger's syndrome, a social disorder. growing up he knew nothing of how to interact with other unicorns and was eventualy left out during extravagant parties so common in unicorn society. Star Swirl might have had controlling parents and had lessons drillled into him so he was strictly a gentlecolt. Somewhere during Star Swirl's childhood to adulthood he gained a large understanding of magic and possibly pursued a carrer as a gentleman scientist and through his experiments and discoveries was noticed by Princess Celestia herself. This lead to Star Swirl being a self determined stallion at the time worked hard and long hours honing his magical prowess. He might have been the first alicorn after discovering a major spell that would change a pony's destiny. To understand this however he must have had a great understanding of friendship. This he failed to obtain as a child and as an adult.
