It all started when my wings went missing.
How funny right? The fastest flyer in all of Equestria, Rainbow Dash, has her wings missing? That's just hilarious! Well let me tell ya folks, it wasn't. Man, I went through the most humiliating experience of a lifetime!
I am writing this story for all the ponies who have such a situation as my own. If you do, don't worry. Just follow my story and take this as a lesson. Alright, what am I waiting for? Let's get to this sad, sad tale.
It was the middle of the night. I was snuggled comfortably in my cloud bed in my cloud home. The dawn of Hearth's Warming Eve was approaching and it was snowing. At the stroke of midnight, I felt something different about me. I kept sleeping on, knowing that in the end it was probably wrong. Oh, how wrong that statement was! Anyway, I started to wake up when I felt wind rush through my mane. I creaked my eyes open, hoping I would be able to go back to sleep. I jerked awake when I saw my cloud home was not in front of me. In fact, the cold, hard, ground was nearing me at an alarming rate. I shrieked loudly and I tried to spread my wings. As you know by now, they weren't there. I didn't have time to comprehend my missing wings as my body met the ground. I slammed into the grass and I fell over. Blood and scratches started to inhabit my face. I hoped somepony would've heard my screaming but, I wasn't so lucky. I lay on the ground, slightly weeping, as cold snow fell on my coat. I drifted off into a cold sleep.
When I awoke, the events of last night still eluded me. You can't blame me though, I was barely awake after all. I stood up and winced. Many cuts were on my body, filling me with pain whenever I moved. I tried spreading my wings to get back to my home but, they were not there. I gasped softly, not remembering the events of last night. I rubbed my eyes, trying to see if this was a dream. It wasn't one. My mouth gaped open. What was I to do now? All of my stuff was in my home! I thought about the circumstances and decided there was only one solution, I had to ask another pegasus to get my stuff so I could start anew. I made my way to Ponyville, still wincing in pain.
As I limped through the streets, ponies gave me weird looks. I expected somepony to help me but, nope. I heard the beautiful sound of caroling come my way and instantly cheered. I knew a carol would help me cheer up. As the horse-drawn carriage came closer I grew more and more anxious for something good to happen to liften my spirits. Sadly, I had forgotten that all the snow melted when I fell asleep and merged with the ground, creating mud. The carriage tumbled in front of me, spurting mud into my face. Ponies mocked and laughed at me as I hung my head in shame. Of course nothing good was going to happen. I frowned at the ponies and gave them the stink eye as I galloped my way to Fluttershy's cottage, with my luck she might as well be gone, but it was worth a shot.
My spirits lifted when I saw Fluttershy's Cottage finally rise above the hills. The birds sang their beautiful tune and I knew things couldn't be so bad. As you probably know by now, they wouldn't be. I rapped on the door, waiting for the shy pegasus to open the door. Sadly, I wasn't so lucky. I creaked the door open and peeked inside. The room was a mess and animals rampaged about in the room. In the middle was a small note, and of course I read it.
Dear Pony who comes across this,
I am currently not home because I went to attend the Pegasaien Race of Wonders. The Wonderbolts, The Princesses, and an entire flock of hawks are preforming. I'm mostly going to be there because my best friend Rainbow Dash is going to preform a Sonic Rainboom in front of everypony. Everypony is coming! All except for Twilight though. I think it's because she doesn't care for Rainbow Dash she is busy. I'm sorry I'm rambling. Angel is telling me to hurry up. See you, whoever this is, in a couple of days!
Fluttershy
I groaned and slammed my head on the wall. It made quite a dent and didn't help with the fact that I was injured. I spun around and shook out of it. Better not do that again, might turn up like Derpy. I slumped out of the ramped house and walked down the dirt road. I decided another option could be to go to Twilight. I chuckled, with my luck she'll be gone too. I picked up the pace, hoping I would be able to catch her. As I trotted I though to myself, why am I so calm about this? My wings went missing, I got mocked, and my one plan failed. Am I just used to this, or am I still sober? I stumbled, but i caught myself right before I fell to the ground. "Steady yourself Rainbow Dash."I thought. I picked up my pace slightly so I could get this over with.
"Rainbow Dash!!! Your wings!!" Twilight immediately shrieked when I stepped into her library home. I was glad she noticed my predicament straightaway so I wouldn't have to go in an awkward conversation.
"How kind of you to notice, Twilight. Now help me." I ordered. I wasn't in the finest of moods considering all that had happened so you can't blame me for snapping. Twilight did not notice this as she instantly sprinted around the library, looking for a solution to my problem. I was grateful she was trying to help me but I was too impatient.
"Hurry up will ya? Clocks a tickin'." I yelled as Twilight sprinted around some more. She paused for a second to stick her tongue out at me in which I returned with a nasty look. Twilight continued the search. I invited myself ti sit down on her fancy couch, in which the bottom gave out and I fell with a thump on the floor. I was just getting up and rubbing my rump to see if it was okay when I heard an excited Twilight call me from in her basement. I trotted down there to see her with a particularly large book in hoof. She had it turned to page with a picture of a pony with a storm cloud above her head. I walked up, I had to get a closer look.
"Here, read this!" Twilight handed the book to me. I pushed it away from me and back into her capable hooves.
"You read it. Who knows, with my luck if I read it it may burst into flames or something." I chuckled under my breath. Twilight took this into account and willing to the book. I stifled my laughter. Even if I have rotten luck, I can use it as an excuse to get out of reading boring books?! Now that was genius! I leaned back and plopped myself on the floor and prepared myself to endure this literary storm.
"The case that you are enduring is a case known as 'Lucky Syndrome'. A pony named 'Lucky' discovered it when her horn went missing and all day long she experienced incredibly bad luck. She reported noticing her horn missing at the stroke of midnight and bad things ensued afterwards. The condition never stopped for the pony and she eventually died when she hit by a piano..." Twilight stopped and pondered, leaving me to sit and let the information sink in. It was very unsettling knowing that Lucky died because of this syndrome she was experiencing. Suddenly, Twilight spoke again.
"That's weird. How did she die from a piano falling on her? I have been hit by a piano before... It didn't murder me... so how..." Twilight pondered. I was at my wits end.
"JUST TELL ME HOW TO GET THIS THING CURED!!" I screamed. Twilight stepped back but nodded happily. She flipped a few pages and grinned.
"Okay. Another pony also got "Lucky Syndrome" before. She was cured by soaking her body in tomate paste..." Twilight stared at my disgusted face. Soon, she burst out into uncontrollable laughter. My face reddend, knowing that I would have to sit in tomato paste. Twilight soon got out of her giggle fit and trotted upstairs, stumbling a bit by constant laughter. I was left there, in the cold dark room. Scared of the fact that I may be rotting in tomato soon enough. Minutes later, I heard Twilight call me up.
"Rainbow! Your... bath... is ready!!" Twilight giggled. I groaned and stepped up the creaky stairs. When I got to the main room, I was shocked. A bathtub, filled to the brim with tomato paste, waited for me. I must have looked ridiculous, because Twilight started cracking up again. I gave her the stink eye and stepped into the gooey liquid. I jumped, the tomato paste was quite warm. I nestled into the warm gooey softness of the paste, instantly feeling better. I started to close my eyes but jerked them open when I saw Twilight's hysterical face above me.
"I-I am totally not enjoy this!! This is so uncool." I lied. Twilight and I both started to crack up. Then I noticed something, I glanced at my back and noticed two feathery bones behind me. I yelped, not used to my wings returning.
"MY WINGS!! THEIR... BACK!!!" MY face broke in two with absolute happiness. I hugged Twilight with all of my might and thanked her over and over again.
"OOh! How could i ever thank you~!?" I squeezed her harder. Twilight blushed and pushed me away.
"Well, you can start by cleaning up this mess of tomato paste." She gestured the chaos spread all around the floor. I reddened and went to grab a mop. While I was mopping up, I heard Twilight say something to me.
"You know. You can stay over tonight, It's getting quite late." Twilight suggested. I nodded as I mopped up more red gunk. I was happy I was staying with Twilight, and this was all over.
Oh so I thought.
Sun beamed through my open window as I awoke in Twilight's guest bed. I heard her soft snores from across the hall and I smiled. I felt happier then any mare in all of Ponyville to have a friend as smart as her. I creaked my door open and sneaked downstairs. Down there, presents filled the bathtub, with a note saying "Happy Hearts Warming Day". I blushed, that Twilight always looking out for me!
As I opened the last of my awesome presents, I started to think. I started to think about Lucky. lucky must have been a very cool pony, only very cool ones should get Lucky's Syndrome. Then, a new idea popped into my head. Was Lucky's Syndrome... contagious?
As if one cue, I heard a deafening scream come from Twilight's room.
Oh brother.
