Spike's Curiosity

The Misunderstanding

Previous Chapter

Spike walked through the town, jittery and excited about what just occurred. His smile was greeted by many. Fluttershy was one of them. She walked up to him and asked in a frantic way, "Oh, Spike! I'm soooo sorry about you and Rarity."

"Huh? How'd you even find out about that?" He looked passed her and saw the spa. "Oh... Rarity's still in, isn't she?"

"Well, yes, but she is very upset. I've never seen her eat so many chocolates before." As Fluttershy continued to look over Spike, she realized he looked more cheerful then saddened. "Umm, you're not... sad? I thought you'd be like Rarity."

Spike looked over to the side, averting his eyes. "I'm not depressed... not anymore, at least. For the first time, I don't know why, but my feelings for Rarity... I can't find them. They always used to be there, but after today, I don't know... I just... It's gone."

Blinking with uncomfortable confusion, The pony shrugged and said, "Well, I'm just happy you're alright, and not so morbid like me and Rarity thought you'd be. She'll be oh so glad to hear you're okay."

Spike walked passed Fluttershy while bidding her a good evening and returned to Twilight's treehouse. Meanwhile, in the spa, Rarity stayed upstares, looking out the window and wondering what her two friends were discussing, even though it wasn't that difficult to figure out. Fluttershy entered, saw her friend watching Spike walk away, and asked, "Are... you going to be okay, Rarity?"

"He... didn't look upset or... anything!"

Fluttershy, being out of touch with the whole thing, asked, "Well, yes... Isn't that a good thing?"

Bursting into sobbing tears, Rarity's cries were muffled by the robe she had been wearing. "He's nth thus t' ge tho herphy!"

"Well, of course he's not, but you should be happy about him being happy. Right?"

"Moo, htf nuth lech thu a auu!"

"Why not Rarity? Why can't he be happy about this? It's a good thing!"

Finally fed up with Fluttershy defending Spike, Rarity lifted her head and yelled, "HE LOVED ME! He would show it twenty-four seven; constantly went out of is way to prove it! Why isn't he torn by this like I am?"

"... Maybe he really didn't love you, and he's only just now realizing the cold truth."

Rarity scowled at the remark. "If that's so," she stopped a moment to snort a little, "then... Oh, I wish I knew what to do!"

Fluttershy sighed and explained, "It looked like he just came from Applejack's. Perhaps she talked some sense into him."

Letting out a gasp, Rarity immediately assumed the worst. "That BITCH gave my Spiky Wiky a sympathy fuck!"

This time, Fluttershy let out an even powerful gasp before whispering, "Rarity! Watch your language!"

Without so much as a 'thank you', Rarity took off, headed for the farm, determined to get answers. If not that, then to beat the tar out of her no good, dragon stealing, lying, bitch of a friend, Applejack.

Big Mac walked back and forth, lost in thought. He couldn't quite understand it, but that kiss he and Spike shared earlier that day was even better than Shinning's. Once Rarity showed up, tears cascading down her face and funny sounds exiting her lips, all Mac could think about doing was retreating to the barn, certain Spike told her everything.

"That lil fucker!" he said as he closed the door behind himself. "He couldn't have done told her! Naw, have faith in that there lil kid."

Evesdropping, he heard Rarity chanting his sister's name. "Applejack! Get over here NOW!"

Naturally, the farm pony came galloping towards her friend. As she approached, she asked, "Whut in tarnation's got your britches in the biscuits? Don't cha know Granny Smith's asleep? You wake her and We'll be workin' all darn day!"

"COULDN'T CARE LESS!!!" she screamed, infuriated thanks to stupid reasons. "You... you... If you lie to me Applejack, so help me, I will-"

"You'll whut?"

Rarity forgot her place, considering there was absolutely nothing she could possibly do to harm somepony like Applejack. Composing herself and clearing her throat, she continued, "Did you, or did you not have sex with Spike?"

The question, now that is was out, made her stop and realize how idiotic it really was. The farmer just stood there with a surprised expression. "D-... Did ah Whut?"

Slightly giggling, Rarity apologized for her outlandish and uncalled-for behavior. "It's just... well, I rejected Spike, and I heard he came over here, and he's all peachy keen, and I just don't know what to think! I'd expected him to have a broken heart, and I knew for sure he would need a few days to recuperate... but I was wrong! He's perfectly fine, even smiling. What happened over here? What in Equestria did you say to him?"

Big Mac walked out and said, "Ah can explain."

Applejack looked puzzled. Rarity seemed even more angry. "Darling, what do you mean?"

"Ah chatted with the feller, he'd been upset all sorts ah serious like... I told him the usual, that there be more fishies in that there big n' wide sea. He seemed tah accept that, and went awn his happy ways."

"That's it?" Rarity asked.

"Eeyup!"

"Y'all mean tah tell me you got all upset n' came up here because you... and Spike... Unbelievable Rarity!"

Now feeling more ignorant than ever before, the mare returned to her spa while still saying sorry. Little did she know, Big Mac lied. His sister, however, saw right through him.

"Whut really happened?"

Big Macintosh gulped and began, "It started with... Twilight's brother."

Following this, Applejack and Big Mac wouldn't be able to socialize for another three or four days. The mare was extremely tempted to go to her destraught friend and explain the truth, but her brother made her swear not to. She could hardly believe this herself, but knowing Big Mac couldn't lie, just as she couldn't, had no choice but to accept this. After a good deal od ranting about how her brother was gay, she eventually settled down, and the two returned to their daily routine, thoroughly embarrassed by the huge revelation.
