Even Nightmares Must Come to an End
Anonymous’ POV [Present]
You're currently standing next to Nightmare's Throne; a Bat Mare guards the other side. You've been anything but still during that time. She’s made you go back and forth from the kitchen for last six or so hours. She kept ordering you to get her food or to get her water. When you brought her something to eat Nightmare always has something to say about it.
You aren't the cook it's not like you control how her food is made. You know she's only doing this just to anger you. It's working quite well, but you're doing your best to show her otherwise. Your face remains stoic. The latest meal you gave her is now in the floor. Apparently you taste testing it wasn't enough.
There are times you wished her cooks had the courage to poison her meals. It'd save you from your duties. She still insisted that she tasted something off about it on the rare occurrence she did eat what you gave her. You were inclined to agree since humans can't exactly process grass that well.
“Since you cannot follow simple orders you are to remain here. Perhaps acting as a meat shield should be simple enough for you." Her snide comment manages to cut deep. But you refuse to let it show.
“Yes your highness," you dryly respond before placing your hands behind your back. With your back turned to her you can't see the smirk she has plastered on her face. It seems as though the Princess has grown bored.
After all it's been an hour since the last pony came in. The poor sap asked for a larger trade caravan. Nightmare doesn't take too kindly to those who ask her for things. She berates them to no end and makes them feel horrible for needing help. If they get their request it's always off of random chance. So half of the time those that come to her and deal with her don't even get what they request.
Admittedly that irks you quite a bit, and it's about to get worse. The familiar sound of Nightmare casting magic can be heard. You sigh in exasperation.
“Permission to speak freely?" don’t bother turning around or otherwise acknowledge her.
“Permission granted, guard," Nightmare giggles mischievously. You hear the sudden pop of an item being brought into existence.
“What in Tartarus are you doing?" you turn your head to look her way. You shiver when you feel tendrils of her mane stroke against your cheek.
“I have grown bored; you and the abomination are to entertain your Princess." Nightmare says before using that same tendril to turn your head to face the front.
“I am not an abomination,” you hear your fellow guard murmur under her breath. Thankfully for her the Princess didn’t hear her.
“What are you—" you're cut off by the sound of something squeaking like a toy. Your head jolts when a small ball hits the back of it. It squeaks upon impact causing Nightmare Moon to laugh haughtily. You grumble incoherently before crossing your arms in front. You hear the bat pony laugh for a moment before grunting from the ball hitting her helmet.
The two of you are stuck for Celestia knows how long with this. Aside from the occasional giggle from Nightmare and the squeak of the ball everything else is silent. An hour has passed and she is still hitting the two of you with her little squeaky ball. You've found a rhythm to it. But that squeak, it's driving you nuts. You've started grinding your teeth in order to keep yourself from having an outburst.
Nightmare notices this and decides to point it out, "Anonymous, am I annoying you?" she asks, obvious as to what your answer will be.
“No your highness, not at all." you answer through clenched teeth. Your reaction causes her to laugh.
“Good, because I do not intend to stop." she throws the ball a little harder this time. Squeak, squeak, and squeak the ball continues its assault upon your senses and the back of your head. Nightmare has stopped hitting the other guard and has decided to make you the one and only target. Squeak, squeak, and squeak, that infernal noise is driving you insane. You find your body shivering in a hopeless attempt to hold your anger back. When you think the ball is about to hit you do a one eighty and catch it.
Then you throw it out of the open window, well its open now that you threw it through the stained glass. The bat mare gasps in horror and Nightmare Moon's happy demeanor has turned sour
“And why did you do that guard?" she asks while looking down on you through narrowed eyes.
“Because that ball was getting on my last nerve," you answer while glaring up at her. You are not going to let her keep doing this to you if you can help it. You still have a few shreds of dignity left.
The two of you stayed like this; eyes locked. You continue to stare in defiance while she looks upon you as if you were nothing more than a mere insect. After what feels like an eternity Nightmare turns to the Bat mare. The poor girl is shivering with fright.
“You are dismissed," her icy, malice filled tone nearly shatters your conviction, and does nothing more than frighten the guard even further.
“W-what?" Nightmare loses her temper for a moment.
“Leave before I hang you from the battlements as a trophy!" Nightmare exclaims, her voice dripping with hatred. This gets the poor guard to gallop out of the throne room. Finding yourself alone with Nightmare Moon, you can't help but feel a little intimidated.
You can feel some invisible force tighten around your throat as you're dragged closer to Nightmare. The telltale signs of her horn glowing signify her using magic, but you can't see her grip on you. You reach around your neck in a vain attempt at relief.
As the grip tightens you see Nightmare start to strain, she grits her teeth as she holds you in the air. She’s acting as though you weigh a ton. You're now face to face with the tyrannical ruler of Equestria... mere inches away...
The size difference is astounding; you knew Celestia would use a growth spell in order to change her size as necessary. But Nightmare Moon took it too far; right now she's made herself out to be a giant. You're a few feet off of the ground; you look down in order to confirm this. Nightmare didn't appreciate you spoiling her fun, not one bit, she forces you to stare into her darkened pools she calls pupils.
“Tell me why I shouldn’t make an example out of you." she speaks through gritted teeth. Judging by her tone you know better than to say anything to make the situation worse
“B-because I'm enter-entertaining?" you struggle to say as your airway constricts. You find yourself gagging as she tightens her grip. Various colors start to play upon your senses. It isn’t long before you start to see darkness as your eyes start to roll up into the back of your head.
She smiles sweetly before dropping you. You land upon your back, pain forces its way through, causing you to grimace. Immediately you roll over on your stomach and get to your hands and knee
You cough violently all while struggling to get in as much air as possible. Your spittle pools out of your mouth and in between your hands. After a few moments you're finally able to breathe properly. You look up to find Nightmare smirking down at you, though she seems worn out.
“Indeed you are Anonymous. That little act alone was nearly enough to make up for the damage you've done." Nightmare's smirk turns into a wide smile.
“N-nearly?" you wheeze as you struggle to your feet. The lack of air has left you without your balance, or clear vision.
“Yes, but in order to earn my forgiveness you have to do a bit more," she adds while her ethereal mane begins to move around her. A tendril of it repeats the earlier motion, causing you to shiver. You back away slowly only to have that same tendril wrap around your pauldron. Her snicker takes on a much more playful tone. Almost as if she were taunting you, but you know this laugh all too well.
For the past month there were some rumors that said during the night, she would feel a little cold. That would lead to her having some random guard ponies join her in her room for a few hours. If she found a stallion to her liking she would always chuckle like how she is now. You've heard it many times before and hearing it now only causes you to hold your breath out of terror.
Those stallions would find that the tyrant they served had a primal thirst that was not easily quenched. It was rumored that she would take many stallions and some mares into her chambers for the night. In turn those chosen would be unable to function for their shifts, or so you’ve heard. That would end in them being flogged for being unable to perform their duties.
You have yet to experience anything like that. You always assumed that since you were a human she saw you as something less than a pony. Or it could have been because having you so close in such an intimate setting could prove dangerous for her. In a way you were thankful that she passed you up for others. You doubt you could go through with doing something like that with a pony anyway.
But now it seems like you'll have no choice but to go through with it. That suspicion is only strengthened by the way she's looking upon you. Her half lidded, sultry gaze is upon you, taking in your appearance. When you see her lick her lips you feel your blood run cold in your veins. You dread the next question you choose to ask. You sigh before looking away,
“What do I have to do for you to forgive me?" your voice is void of any enthusiasm. You shift your eyes to the floor, but she won’t have any of that. A second tendril of her mane joins in on the fun while the first one pulls away.
It gently runs along the bottom of your chin. This unwanted sensation has you feeling molested. It suddenly forces you to look back up into the black slits of Nightmare's eyes. You find that she’s moved off of her throne, and that she's uncomfortably close. She sniffs the air around you once before breathy laughter follows. She can smell your displeasure.
“One hour from now you are to head to my bed chambers." That smile of hers grates upon your nerves. “I will receive compensation for that window Anonymous," she trails off before releasing you from her icy locks. Nightmare trots past you, and makes her way out of the throne room. Before she leaves she turns her head to look at you. “And do not think you can use that tongue of yours to sweet talk your way out of this," her eyes seemed to light up, “Besides, it'll be far too busy with... other tasks." With that she makes her way out of the throne room, leaving you to soak in what she just said.
Even with her departure her presence still lingers. You feel unclean, almost as if Nightmare's words alone performed the dreaded deed. It appears as though luck is not in your favor. You sigh deeply before making your way to your personal bed chambers.
While you have to endure quite a bit from Princess Moon, at least she had the courtesy to provide you and a few other guards with rooms in the castle. As luck would have it, you ended up with Celestia's old bed chambers. Though all the paintings, the stark white walls, and the banners have either been painted over with Moons, or replaced in its entirety. No comforting sun to see you through the next few hours...
You've been pacing around your room for an untold amount of time. You've since stripped out of your armor. A shower was also a part of your little routine. You assumed Nightmare would want someone smelling like berries rather than sweat. At least you can freak out in comfort while wearing a midnight blue bathrobe and black slippers. There is no need to get dressed any further than that. After all she'll probably strip away what you're wearing.
You shudder when she comes to mind, that sickening smile of hers still sends cold chills throughout your body. You're going to have to figure out how you're going to get any enjoyment out of this. You're about to make your parents ashamed of you. Just think, if they could see you getting ready to get in bed with a pony. Your thoughts are interrupted by a quiet knock upon your door.
Upon opening it you find one of the unicorns who regularly stands with you while guarding the throne. You usher him inside and he takes the invitation.
“Evening." he bows before walking further into your quarters. You can't help but notice the black saddlebags he's carrying. The purpose for said saddlebags eludes you, that is until he sets them on your bed and opens one. You find that he's brought out a silver, cylinder shaped flask. Using his magic he tosses it to you and you catch it.
“What's with this?" you ask while shaking the flask, you put your ear to it and listen as the liquid inside sloshes around.
“Start Trotter saw you walking back to your room in a daze. He knew Nightmare chose you for tonight. So we came up with a little something for you." Upon opening the top of the flask you inhale the scent. Your nostrils seem to burn from the sensation.
“Sweet Celestia what did you two put in this thing?! Fuel?!" you exclaim before moving your nose away from the opening.
“Hard Cider, Orange Family Whiskey, Sapphire Shores Vodka, and a little magic." He produces a second flask.
“You don't mix those things!" you shout, "What made you think that was a good idea?" You toss the flask onto your bed.
“It's Nightmare Moon, we assumed one brand of liquor would be insufficient. Besides the spell helps bind it all together, and it'll help make things easier for you." He passes both flasks to you via magic.
"What else did you put in here?" You grimace while eyeing both flasks suspiciously. You know for a fact that a good portion of her guard and the populace are indoctrinated. With her being an alicorn she's been known to do such a thing to ponies in order to make taking over an easy task for her. You hope to find a way to break them of their curse. To be forced to serve under Nightmare Moon is a fate worse than death...
“A little something to help your libido," he smiles and winks. That causes you to groan.
"Just get out of here." You shake your head while pointing to your door. He chuckles before making his way past you.
"Drink it Anon, you're gonna need it so you can stomach the dribble that comes out of her. She may be a total bitch, but hey that mare will be the best lay of your life. Might as well give it your all right?" You're sure to slam the door behind him as he leaves. You can hear his laughter echo throughout the hall even with your door closed.
Why do your own comrades torture you so? Though the more you think about it the more you think that what your friend gave you was a godsend. You are definitely going to need two flasks for this.
Either both for you or at least one for you or one for her, in fact, if you could convince her to drink both she might be too drunk to do anything to you! Nightmare may even pass out, and that could be the best chance you have at getting your revenge…
Nightmare’s POV
You find yourself moving about your quarters at a brisk pace. The time doesn't seem to be passing by fast enough for you. If there was a weakness you would willingly point out, it would have to be your impatience. That always took a turn to frustration.
You could say you were pretty upset as is. The minotaur emissary that came by earlier felt unwelcome in your castle. That in turn made it so that any attempts at an alliance were doomed to fail. In fact, judging by the way he was glaring as he left you might see a few more minotaur gathering around your borders.
You were a steaming kettle at this point, and you couldn't wait to take out all of your anger on your little guest tonight. Time and time again you tell yourself that you're not come off as irritated when your "special" guard arrives. At least not until you get into your routine. You've already lured him into a false sense of security. He believes you're going to lay with him; at least you hope he was dumb enough to make that assumption.
If so you couldn't believe he'd fall for it! As if you'd give that hairless ape the time of night; especially after what he did to your beautiful, slender neck. You cast a glance over yourself in your black gem-encrusted mirror. That ugly scar of his is still as prominent as the day he gave it to you.
It just had to be a shade lighter than your coat. Thanks to him he's made you seem mortal. Your propaganda describing you as a goddess goes ignored by those you don’t directly control! A being of your caliber should not be able to be wounded, yet a single swipe from the tip of Anon's spear has changed that for good.
As soon as Anonymous gets here, and after he drops his guard, you are going to let him have it. When the time has finally come you smile when you hear somepony knocking at your door. You take on a regal posture before acknowledging the noise.
“Enter!" You watch as your door slowly slides open to reveal the human of the hour. It seems as though he's taken on a bathrobe and slippers for his attire. The fool, how dare he dress in such a casual manner! It's as if he's taking you lightly. You will give him an extra punishment for this.
So what if you're void of any garments, this is your room! Anonymous is sure to close the door behind him. With a simple spell you lock the bolt so he has no opportunity to escape. He jumps from the sudden noise of the lock being set in place. In fact, his whole demeanor has him coming off as nervous.
His eyes shift from side to side, and he's sweating. Perhaps he didn't fall for your little joke after all. Oh well it's of no concern to you.
“It took you long enough," you’re sure to sound angry with him. You point your nose up and turn away from him as though you’ve been offended by his foolishness. You open an eye and see he hasn't moved from his spot by the door. “Don’t just stand there; this is not my throne room."
You feel the familiar warmth of magic cover your body like a blanket as you ready your spell. As your horn glows Anonymous does in turn. He may weigh as much as a mountain to you, but if he won't move of his own volition you'll make him. You grind your teeth as you drag him over to you.
Why is he so heavy? Everything else, even dragons are light as a feather to you; yet this single monkey weighs as much as your castle. When he's close enough you release him, the sound of something sloshing within the pockets of his robe catches your attention. That's when you see two bulges in the front pockets of his attire. What in the world did he bring with him?
Anon POV
Yeah, you were a nervous wreck. The thought of being forcibly taken by a pony made walking here hell for you. You really didn't want that to happen. You'd rather be forced through a physical beating; at least then you wouldn't have your innocence stolen from you. When you went in her room and saw her smile, admittedly your anxiety was only exacerbated as a result.
The bolt being put into place made you reluctant to even move. It was ebbed away slightly when she gave you that snide comment about the time it took for you to get to her room. She set the time, yet she's giving you lip for it. When she turns her head away from you like a snobby royal pony you remain in your spot.
Apparently ten seconds of standing was too long for her. When she saw that you made no attempt to move she told you that you weren't in the throne room. Then drug you over. You made no attempt to struggle; you knew that as soon as the aura surrounded you there was no point.
When you were adequately close enough to her, her ears seemed to pick up on something. You grimaced when you realized that you brought something with you. She heard the liquor sloshing around in the flasks. Yes, you brought the alcohol with you in hopes that she would drink it. Now that you know that she knows you'll get to see if this little gamble plays out in your favor.
“Oh did you bring me a gift? You must really want to get on my good side." she smiles before levitating one of the flasks out of your pockets. She scrutinizes it before opening the top and bringing it to her snout. Once the top is removed she takes a whiff, only to reel back in the same fashion as you did. “What is this?! Fuel?!” Did you really intend on drinking this?" she asks in a combination of confusion and disgust. You shrug.
“Well, what do you expect? If you're going to take advantage of me I might as well get drunk. In fact, I was hoping you’d take a few sips yourself," Nightmare Moon makes no attempt of holding in her laughter. It echoes throughout her enormous bedroom. Your anxiety is being chipped away, only to be replaced by anger.
If there was one thing you didn't like, it was Nightmare laughing at you. When she finally catches her breath her response catches you by surprise.
“You actually believed that?! Oh you idiotic foal!" she says while shaking her head, "That just made my night!" You breathe a sigh of relief before wiping the sweat off of your brow.
"Oh thank Celestia." You smile. Now it's her turn to be surprised. She looks to you with anger.
"And just what is that supposed to mean?" Since you're already in a hole you might as well dig deeper.
"The thought of getting into bed with you disgusts me. I felt getting drunk would make you attractive, and I bet if you drank you’d be tolerable instead of a total cunt.” you answer with another shrug. Nightmare strikes her hoof across your cheek. The impact makes you lose your balance. You almost end up in her floor, but you manage to remain standing.
You're a bit disoriented from her strike, you had no idea that she could exert that much force. You rub your now aching cheek as she screams.
“How dare you insult me! My appearance is second to none! It seems dirty apes like you cannot comprehend my beauty." Nightmare speaks with a sense of pride. Now it's your turn to laugh. Despite the painful protest of your cheek you lose it from Nightmare's comment. This only earns you another blow, this time to your chin. The force of impact knocks you off your feet.
When you get a good look at the furious glare Nightmare's giving you find yourself unable to stand. Her presence feels overwhelming. It looks like insulting her appearance struck a nerve. She's probably self-conscious about the scar you gave her. Well you wanted to dig a deeper hole for yourself, and you feel that you’ve exceeded your own expectations…
Nightmare POV
How dare he say such rubbish! You are not an ugly mare and for him to say such a thing made you snap a little bit. You had the intention of holding back, but it looks like that idea has been thrown out of the window. The human looks to you with hatred; a small trickle of blood trails down his lip.
Looks like you made him bite his lip when you hit his jaw. Good, maybe now he'll learn to keep his mouth shut next time he thinks of an insult. You shoot him a cocky grin as he gets to his feet. When he wipes away the blood you watch as his jaw begins to move about. Then he spits at you. A wad of blood lands right on your muzzle causing you to reel back in surprise and disgust.
“You whelp!" You have a levitation spell ready to go. You're going to toss him around like a rag doll for being so disrespectful. You forgo any plans for dragging this out. You're going to beat him black and blue! He has crossed the line with this. When his feet lift off the ground he looks fearful. He begins to struggle in your magical aura.
Typically, you don't think to bind him considering doesn't struggle when you lift him. But now, he must know what you plan on doing, he's trying everything he can to get you to let him go. It's as if he's doubled in weight from struggling.
Your face becomes flushed and you grimace as you try your hardest to keep him in the air. You can't do anything when he's like this other than lift him, and even that is starting to weaken. Instead of merely dropping him you try lifting him higher. Your horn expels more light as you put more power into your spell. Now he's about fifteen feet in the air. H-he's so heavy... why...?
Sweat is pouring from your brow, and you're panting from the amount of force you have to exert. There is something wrong with this picture; this shouldn’t be hard for you at all. You feel a migraine coming on. That in turn causes you to drop Anon. He lets out a surprised yelp before hitting the ground rump first.
When he growls your eyes shoot open in fear. You try to cast another spell but you've exerted way too much. Nothing happens, and that’s when you realize you've ran out of magic. The closer he gets the more you start to back away. Despite being driven back you meet his glare with your own. Unfortunately you're not as intimidating as before.
The growth spell you've cast upon yourself is starting to fade. Instead of looking down on him you're now below eye level. When you feel your hind hooves hit the side of your bed, you realize you can no longer move back. This causes Anon to smile. You flinch when he cracks his knuckles. Your confidence is fading fast. Again and again you try to cast a spell only to have it fizzle away before it can be effective.
You find it hard to breathe, and in turn you start to hyperventilate. Your heart beat is growing so loud and rapid it’s almost deafening. You’re panicking and Anonymous knows it. You open your mouth to call for your guards but Anonymous is too fast for that. He has a hand over your muzzle and has silenced you. Your yelp is far too muffled to be heard.
It’s almost as if you’re reliving the first night you met him. When his spear went across your neck you froze in fear. Your life flashed before your eyes that night. You hated yourself for showing such weakness, but you’ve never faced something quite like him. When you don’t know everything there is to know about something you fear it out of instinct.
Sleep was in short supply for a few weeks after that night. Being so close to death, and having the one who nearly caused it to be working so close… You could feel your hair stand on end when you were near him. It wasn’t until a month passed did you find him to no longer be a threat. He did nothing more than bark, he no longer had a bite. So you saw fit to rub salt in the wounds. That was a foolish mistake, you can see now that all you did was add fuel to his fire.
“I think I figured it out,” he says in a cheery tone, “Magic Resistance. The reason why you’re always straining is because I’m naturally resistant to your magic.”
“W-what? How can this be possible?” But this explains how he weighs so much. How could you not have realized this sooner?! You really are a fool, and you’re about to pay for that.
You’re starting to get a little dizzy. Wait when did he put those flasks on your bed? You’re starting to lose bits of time as a result of your overexertion. You didn’t know you could feel this exhausted. You can hear the liquid sloshing around in one of the flasks he’s hold before he pops the top.
“You know after being so close to you, I take back what I said,” you raise a brow in confusion as he looks you over. “Maybe sleeping with you won’t be as terrible as I thought.” He looks from you, to the flask, then back to you. “In fact I guess you could say I’ve been rather lonely.” You would scream if he didn’t have his hand over your mouth. You’re going to try to cast another spell; this one will burn him alive!
He glances over your horn as it starts to glow. You smirk under his hand when you feel that you have the upper hand. But when his fingers wrap around the base of your horn you open your mouth and silently scream. The sensation is too much and your spell is disrupted. He doesn’t stop with a gentle squeeze either. You find yourself yelping out of pain as his grip tightens. It’s as if he were trying to snap it in half from pressure alone.
Thankfully he releases you, but the damage has already been done. Every time you think of casting a spell pain shoots through your skull now. When he grabs hold of your throat, you try to struggle out of his grip. He isn’t applying more pressure than necessary, enough to keep you from escaping; he’s not trying to silence you with this. With his hand away from your mouth you call for your guards again and again…
Anon POV
You've done it, you've actually done it. Thanks to Nightmare Moon's anger and arrogance you're given an opportunity that you will happily take. You smile as she calls out to her own guard, not realizing that not only is her room sound proof, but she's locked it. Even if they did hear her how are they getting in? It will take them too long to fly around the castle's exterior in order to break through the window so she's your little prisoner now.
Fear must have her in a vice grip if she can’t even remember the enchantments she made. You pop open the top of one of the two flasks. She’s desperate to escape from you, fearing your intentions.
She flails around, she twists her neck so that you're unable to hit your mark, but one swift strike to her side stuns her for a moment. She yelps in pain and you take this time to hold her steady. It doesn't take much effort for you to pour the contents of both flasks down her throat after that.
When she gulps them both down you step off of her, stand next to her bed, and wait. She looks over herself for a few moments before sending a glare your way. She gets to her hooves and starts trotting towards you, you in turn step back from her. You're going to give that liquor time to do its thing.
Your grin seems to only add fuel to the fire; because you disabled her magic she knows you're just toying with her, and that infuriates her. She lets loose a roar before breaking off into a gallop. That lasts for about two steps before she comes to a complete stop. You laugh when you see her pupils start to dilate. All four of her legs begin to shake violently as they attempt to keep her standing.
You walk over and lightly push her. She stumbles a bit and you laugh when she nearly ends up falling in the floor. Were it not for her bed she would have. Before she can steady herself you shove her so she ends up on her bed.
“W-what? Did you do to me?" Her body must be heating up because she can’t seem to stop panting.
“Oh I just gave you something your guards were going to have me drink is all." you answer before taking a seat next to her. She tries to move away from you, but she ends up going nowhere. As she rubs her back along her covers she ends up gasping and freezing in place. Her dilated eyes are wide with worry as she looks over her bed. You'll admit that her blankets are quite comfortable, but they shouldn't have that much of an effect.
Then realization hits you, "It's a good thing I don't trust them. They put a bit more into that little concoction then they told me." In order to test your theory you lightly run your fingers along her stomach. Nightmare's entire form quivers under your touch. When your fingers hit the center of her tummy she utters a quick moan. Her hooves fly up to her muzzle in order to muffle them. “Oh, I get it, you’re a lot more sensitive now huh?" you chuckle as she squirms under your unforgiving hand. Her body can't seem to stop shaking as you give her a tummy rub.
“S-S-Stop! Please," she breathlessly pleads, "I can't take it," that’s when you notice a musky odor permeates the air. You shake your head before cupping her jaw in your hand. You can’t believe she’s reacting this way from merely being touched. A small scratch causes her to yelp.
“Oh Nightmare I'm just getting started," your smile widens, "I'm gonna take my time turning you into a mess, and I'm sure you're going to love every moment." You lean in and plant a small kiss along the base of her neck.

You lumber over to Nightmare, your legs nearly giving out on you when you get to her. When you feel that you’re ready to do this you raised the shaft over your head. You twist your hands upon the banner before shouting.
“Eternal night has come to an end! The nightmare’s over!” you bring the point of the shaft down with all the might you have left. Your target is her exposed neck. You smile with satisfaction as the point easily pierces her body. You find it surprising when you hit her mattress. Nightmare’s eyes open in shock and her jaw drops. Her entire body quivers as crimson starts to pour from her open wound. She looks right into your eyes one final time before the light leaves them. When her breathing stops you fall to your knees, and you laugh...
The guards eventually decided to check up on the two of you after some time has passed. When they realized the door was locked pounding followed in their wake. It took a lot of magic to break the lock and force the door open. What they saw was the scene of you passed out in the floor with their leader long dead on her bed.
They didn’t question why you were naked or about the smells. They didn’t care; what they did care about was that they no longer had their precious Nightmare Moon to guide them. You were branded a traitor and were punished as such. They had a special noose for a person of your caliber, and your public execution was not your most graceful moments.
They threw rotten fruit at you, they insulted you, they spat upon you. All the while you felt nothing but pity for them. To be indoctrinated by a tyrant, maybe one day they’ll realize your actions helped them. You let out one last breath before the noose is tightened around your neck.
The pony executing you doesn't bother to wear a hood. He wishes for you to see the identity of the one who pulls the lever. As he readies to end your life you look to the now morning sky, and you see the faces of your comrades. The warmth of the sun, the knowledge of what waits beyond... you’re ready to go.
“Friends, I’m coming home...” as you close your eyes and wait you feel the sudden sensation of air under your feet. Your final thoughts that pass before you meet your end are that at least your actions freed the Princesses. They’ll muster up the mane 6 and any other rebels that remain, and they’ll take Equestria back from the remnants of Nightmare Moon’s forces. The wood supporting your feet drops and your body is met with a sudden stop. The final sound you hear is the one of your neck snapping from the strain...

From Darkness to Dawn [Alternate Ending]
As you're about to plunge the banner into her neck one of her eyes glances over you with a lazy expression. As quick as lightning her silky ethereal mane wraps around your sensitive member. You yelp loudly and your vision blurs as she teases you with her locks. The sensation is too much for you. In turn you drop your weapon and fall to your knees. Nightmare lets out a throaty chuckle before getting to her hooves.
“You know, my magic may be ineffective, but I believe I've found a weakness I can exploit." Her smile widens as she draws near. She releases your member and you shakily get to your feet. From the way she's moving it’s as if her body has already recovered. Your eyes widen in shock as she trots towards you. You in turn back away, the two of you continue this little pattern until your back's against the wall. Her smile never leaves her face. “Surprised aren't you? I knew you would be, see we Alicorns may have low stamina like our pony counterparts, BUT we have excellent recovery time. Even that little potion's effects have reached its end."
You audibly gulp as your plan falls to shambles. Her mane is ice cold to the touch as it trails along your bare chest. When it wraps around your arms and neck you know that your end is drawing near. And to think, in your final moments of life you gave the creature you despised a pleasurable evening.
“Do it," you say quietly. Her ear perks up when you speak. You see her smile drop from her face. “Hurry and kill me, snap my neck. I can't bear the shame of losing twice." She shakes her head disapprovingly.
“Is that what you truly desire? How shameful Anonymous." Your mouth opens in shock at how her tone has changed. She actually sounds concerned for you. You'd laugh were you not staring down Death itself. “To think you would choose death after doing what you did to me…" You can do nothing as Nightmare takes advantage of your open mouth. When she finally pulls away the two of you pant in order to catch your collective breaths.
'Well, this is an interesting development,' you think to yourself. As you wipe away her saliva from your lips you find her smiling again.
“D-Did that work? I always figured a kiss would work, or something I dunno." Where did this come from? The urge to kill her is gone, and in its place confusion reigns supreme. You've never seen anything like this before.
“W-What?" You feel her mane go slack against you, finally releasing you. Nightmare scoffs.
“Did you honestly think that being a tyrant is the only thing about me?" Her expression turns angry, as if you've offended her. You can't even form a coherent sentence; you're still trying to figure out just what happened to the dictator. “Why do you think I let you live for as long as I did? If I really wished to kill you I would have done so."
“I thought you did that just to taunt me! And you threatened to burn down the place that took me in!"
“I wanted to make you angry. I don't think you understand just how much of an impact you've made on me."
"You wanted to make me angry?" Nightmare Moon snorts, growing impatient.
“Yes you fool! Do you have any idea what went through my mind the night we met?"
“Anger, hatred, disgust, surprise-"
“Yes yes yes of course. But, the way you glared at me with those... alluring eyes of yours…," She brings her forehead to yours so you're forced to look into her icy blue orbs. “The fiery passion that laid behind them... ever since that night I..." she clears her throat before moving back and looking away. “I just had to see it again... that's why I've been acting this way... I wanted you to become enraged and," The red tint to her cheeks contrasts her black coat, "have you take out your anger on my body."
Now it’s your turn to blush. You slide along the wall so you're no longer trapped by her. You need a few moments in order to come to terms to what's been laid out for you.
"But there's more to it than that, do you have any idea what's it’s like to want to be dominated, yet have no stallion brave enough to try?" She turns to you and continues her little rant. “You're not like my other soldiers Anonymous, you still have your independence, you still think freely. You do not kiss my hooves as willingly as my subjects, and I like that about you."
She exhales, her steam seemingly gone. "And yet you think I'll kill you? No Anonymous, as much as it pains me to say it you're much too valuable." You stand with a blank expression. The tyrant you've grown to hate is saying she has feelings for you. “To have somepo- someONE like you stay by my side would be a great gift, and not just for what you did to me just a few minutes ago," she scuffs the floor with her hoof.
It's as though a part of Luna remained within her. She’s as outspoken and rude as she is meek it seems, “I'm even willing to overlook the scar you've given me. Despite the fact that looking at it angers me greatly." Her smile returns, but you are unable to return it. You have your reasons for being how you are towards her. And her saying these things to you isn't swaying your opinion of her as much as she'd like to believe.
“I just, well, ugh how do I put this in simple terms? I'd like for what happened this night to happen again, and maybe for something more to come out of it as a result. I'm willing to compromise if that helps." Hearing that brings a lot of possibilities that could weigh out in your favor. Unless she's just buttering you up in order to have you willing to rut her like you did.
Regardless this change is quite refreshing, and if she's serious you might just be willing to try things her way for once.
“If you're serious Nightmare, I'll give it a try, but there are three things I'd like for you to do for me." She perks up when you speak.
"What are your terms, name them and I'll fulfill them to the best of my ability." When you name your standings her smile drops from her features “Are you serious?" You nod, she sighs deeply, "Fine, I shall accept these terms, but I want a few things in return. Insignificant things I assure you."
“And what would those be Nightmare?" She looks excited, she giggles to herself before listing off her terms.
“First, how I'm acting right now is to remain a secret. I cannot have my reputation tarnished." Understandable, if she acted like this her subjects would think her weak despite their indoctrination.
“Second, you are no longer allowed to be my guard, instead you are my consort, and we’ll see where it goes from there. You'll only have to answer to me and no other." You nod, understanding just how significant that is. “Third, you're going to be the big spoon when sharing my bed. Oh and yes you are to sleep with me. Your things will be moved into my Royal Bedchambers." You mull over the pros and cons of both sides.
If you refused things would more than likely to go back to the way things were, you would be her figurative bitch and she'd continue to rule with an iron hoof. But if you go along with it, not only are the perks great, but you might just come out with something more. You have to admit you can't bring yourself to hate this side of Nightmare Moon, you'll see how things play out.
"I accept," your answer is met with excited giggling. She merrily trots in place for a moment before making her way to her bed. When she climbs in it she uses her magic to dry the sheets. Then her eyes go half lidded as she beckons you over with a hoof. Admittedly, you're quite tired from the labors you've forced your body to endure, and sleep sounds heavenly...
You sluggishly make your way over to her bed and climb in it. As per your agreement you take your spot as the big spoon. When your arms wrap around her she sighs contently before snuggling into you. Despite the circumstances you find that sleep comes easy for you. The scent of blueberries helps you along. And when you wake up you find that Nightmare Moon has kept her end of the agreement…
You smile widely as for once in many days you actually have to shield your eyes as light pours into the window. She raised the sun for you... you hurriedly rub your eyes before making your way to her window. You peer out of it to see the populace shielding their eyes from the rays of light. More and more ponies leave their homes in order to bask in the warm glow of the sun.
A few erupt in cheers, others dance in the street, happy to finally have light fill the once dark lands. You cast your gaze to the courtyard to find ponies in shackles being released and set free into the town. The second part of your agreement has been fulfilled... and you know for a fact she'll keep the third as well. Your home will be left standing, untouched and free from the iron grip it had been forced to endure.
And to think, none of this would have been possible had you gone through with ending her life. The sound of her door opening catches your attention. You find the 'tyrant' herself, and she looks exhausted. She hasn't had to raise the sun since taking over; it's natural that she's tired. A lazy smile graces her lips as she sees the one you're giving her.
"I can't believe you actually did it Nightmare."
“Neither can I, I didn't think I could, but I had to honor our agreement, you did after all."
"That I did." You take the liberty of helping her to her bed. She'll definitely need to get more sleep. But not you, she probably announced that you've become her consort. That means when she's incapacitated you'll be ruling in her stead. A sly smile creeps upon your face when you realize the endless possibilities that now lay before you. First you're going to- a strand of her ethereal mane stops your thoughts.
“Come back to bed big spoon." Well, you'll do those things after another nap...
