Silver Scale - Chapter 0
Prologue
It could have started just like every usual day, waking up, going to work, and so on, and so on. But it was not that day. Everypony was waiting in complete stress in the hall to the papers to arrive, the papers that contained our future, our destiny, my destiny. Today, we're closing the book.
The company was showing signs of it's downfall months ago, I saw the signs, I saw and wrote them with my bare hooves, worrying every time the scales showed a minus result. We knew what'll happen but nopony expected things to be so sudden. Mr.. Debit, our boss said we have to sacrifice the main office here in Fillydelphia and rather rely in smaller ones all over Equestria.
Minutes, hours passed until Mr.. Debit got out from his office and with a huge sigh he gave everyone a paper. Si-, Si-, Silvia-, Silver Scale! It was my name, my eyes quickly shifted to the other side of the paper to see the name of my future workplace, which was "Ponyville, City sqr. 1., Town Hall".
Ponyville.... For a moment I didn't even know where is that place, but then I suddenly came to my realization that it's that little town next to Canterlot. The town were all the strange things happen I read in the newspapers at times. I didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing right now, I've never been there actually. Looking at the paper again I noticed nobody was assigned there, only me.
"Can you believe I'm going to Baltimare?!" shouted up Transaction behind me hitting my back. She is so random at times, but really lovable and helpful.
"And you? Ponyville, huh? You sure won't miss stuff there." she added.
"Yeah." I replied, being still in shock.
"Oh come on now! At least to get rid of this huge, smokey and stressful city. You already deserved some chill, gal." she answered. Transaction was extremely good at seeing good in almost anything. Whenever something bad happened, she could always cheer me up with her logic, and this was no different this time either. I began to look forward to moving to Ponyville, honestly, well as long as my secondary job came up in my mind as I got home. I quickly rushed at my bookshelves and grabbed a map to see how far this Ponyville is. It wasn't really far, just about an hour with train. I didn't take the risk though, grabbed a letter and quill and began to write.
"Dear Cracked Mirror
Here are all the information about my new workplace as I promised before. I'm going to move to Ponyville and continue my work there, however for both financial and emotional reasons I won't move there permanently. I decided not to give up on my dream-job and continue working in your club on the weekends as well, despite all the distance problems that can occur.
Yours Sincerely
Silver Scale"
Mirror will surely understand it. She's a little crazy and often speaks in strange sentences that make no sense, but otherwise she's an understanding girl. I'm glad such a fine mare is my boss. The entire club... it's such a nice place, all those lights, all those eyes, and they're all staring at me as I perform glamorous moves around the steel pole of passion. It's truly wonderful, feels like being a star. I don't want to leave it, I simply can't... But... What if they find it out?
I never told anyone that I'm a pole dancer, only the other girls in the club know, and the guys I served, but they forget about me so quickly. It's so strange, most ponies wouldn't even assume that that nerdy little mare with the glasses are seducing a house full of stallions every weekend. Whoever I'll work with mustn't know the truth, it would reflect badly on me, I'd lose all my reputation.
I had no time to worry about this, though. It was Friday so I was to start working there from next Monday. The plan for the weekend was simple: take a look at Ponyville to get used to the new scenery, then find a place to live in, and back to the club at the end of the days. Even just thinking about it made me sigh, this sure will be a busy weekend.
Silver Scale - Chapter 1
Good worker
After half an hour of travelling on the train I finally saw it, I saw Ponyville. Honestly, I thought it's much smaller. We stopped at the train station, which was obviously not as crowded as in Fillydelphia. Actually, the entire town wasn't crowded at all. If only I knew where to go now. I decided to head down the main street since it seemed the most rational, but on the way I decided to ask somepony, just to make sure.
"Excuse me." said to a blue, curly maned white unicorn, who was talking with a grey pegasus "May I ask where the town hall is?"
"Of course, it's right down the main street, in the middpe of the town square, you can't miss it." the unicorn answered.
"Thank you very much."
"Oh, you're welcome. You're new to town, right?" she asked.
"Well, yes. First time here actually." I replied, blushing. It was a little awkward and came by surprise, but it felt nice that a complete stranger was this outgoing.
"Welcome to Ponyville, then. If you ever happen to be in need of dresses, stop by my boutique." she said coming to shake hooves with me "I'm Rarity, by the way."
"Silver Scale." I replied, shaking hooves with her "I need to leave now, see you later.".
"Bye." she answered with a friendly smile, before we spread apart. It was strange but so good, I wasn't used to such kind ponies back in Fillydelphia. Though I also heard her friend asking "Shameless self-advertising Rarity?", I didn't really mind it, just went on my way to see my future workplace.
It really wasn't something I could miss, it was huge. I walked in, ending up in a big hall, like a theatre. Seems like they hold the bigger events here, but then where is the office?
From the left I heard hoofsteps, and as I looked there, I saw stairs. I wonder how did I miss this one. The pony who walked down had a white, wavy mane and light brown coat. She sure looked elegant with that bowtie, hey, maybe she also works here.
"May I help you?" she asked as she noticed me staring at her. I felt kinda awkward at first, but as soon as I found my way back to the reality I answered.
"Yyyes, actually. I was assigned to work somewhere in this place."
Her face turned all excited "Silver Scale, right? I'm glad you paid a visit so early. I was to send you a letter about meeting me tomorrow, but seems like it's not necessary. I'm Mayor Mare, pleased to meet you.".
We shook hooves, she looked so happy, and I was was more confused than when I last messed up the scales. I still asked, I wanted answers, now: "How do you know my name? What is going on?"
"I understand that you're confused, I wanted to explain everything in the letter, but plans have changed. To cut it short, Mr. Debit, your boss and I hae been good friends for a while, and since there are a vast, empty office next to mine and my secretary's upstairs, he thought about the possibilities and..."
"Decided to cut costs on me."
"No, nonono." she chuckled "He'd like to give this as a gift to his favourite college. He said from all workers you deserve it the most." she added.
Even though I should have been happy about it, I kept looking for the sarcasm, and wondered what a junkyard that office may look like.
Turned out I was wrong, the office was beautiful, to say at least. The red curtains and the dark red walls with those gold-bordered pictures, and those wooden furniture. It was so cozy and big, I loved it's atmosphere. The first impressions were awesome so far. It was time to head back home...
...or not. I barely realized but I was late, late from work in Fhillydelphia.
