Chapters Hello.
My name is Sal.
I am a 17 year-old teenager who used to live in loneliness. That’s right, I “used” to it. I am about to tell you the story of how my life was years ago.
You want to know why I’m telling you this? Because you wouldn’t believe it.
Belive.
Today's class was all about showing our "future projects". We had to talk about it in front of the entire classroom (and the teacher of course), and explain why and what could happen if it got approved. The project me and Tyler were doing was related to creating a theme park in the center of our city. We explained that, with the current state of the city, it was very possible that our project could be approved, since we didn't have much options of recreation throughout the city, plus, I assured that the costs of it wouldn't be so expensive, considering that we could use a lot of recycled materials.
Yeah, I thought in everything.
After our speech, the teacher and most of the students were suprised by the idea, and almost every one of them loved it.
Almost.
In every classroom, every single one of them, there's always that guy who would hate and bother you forever just because of what you like. In my situation, that guy was called Viktor.
"I'm sure you two would disguise yourselves at those girly ponies just to get more people on the park!" He said in a loud voice so all the students could listen.
The sound of success lasted for just a few seconds. And now, all of them were laughing at us. I actually didn't cared, but Tyler got the joke to the personal side.
"Oh yeah Vik? Let's see if I can drag you to a fight you coward!" Said Tyler. He was about to hush into Viktor, but I stood in front of him, before he could get himself killed.
Even though I enjoyed his courage, there's no way he could have won a fight with Viktor. Knowing that he was taller than him, older, and much, much stronger, it was pretty obvious that he would lost. I wouldn't lost Tyler to a jerk like Viktor.
"Don't worry Tyler. At least we don't have to be stupid enough to get popular here. You are indeed popular Viktor, I'll give you that. But considering the fact that you held back at the same grade for 3 consecutive years so everyone could get to know you better, I'm pretty sure I could win more money disguising myself as a pony on a theme park than you being retarded staying at school forever." I said.
Everyone got silenced and was looking at Viktor to see what he would answer.
"So what? You're nothing but talk Sal. I'm sure I could beat your ass on-"
"ENOUGH!" Said our teacher, before Viktor could finish his answer.
"You two, sit down. The presentation is over already." The Teacher said looking at us.
"And about you Viktor, I suggest you stay quiet if you don't want to stay one more year with me."
Viktor remained in silence.
The bell rang.
The class is over.
I woke up. It was early, too early in fact. But I had to wake up. I had to go to school.
As I keep that in mind, I got up and prepared myself to go outside of my building. You know what I mean by “prepare myself”; take a shower, brush your teeth, eat something, the usual stuff I do every single day before I leave.
The only thing that I loved by going outside was to look to the sky. Oh that blue sky. I had this quote on my mind every time I looked at it: “If I can look clearly to the skies, I am a free man.” But why I still had the feeling that I wasn’t free at all? Getting focused on my studies was something good, of course, but I always looked into another way that. I thought that going to school every day was an obligation, an obligations through my eyes are not freedom. It seems I was getting distracted again.
“Sal!” I recognized the voice over my name. I turned my face around and confirmed the similar voice. It was my mother. “Don’t you think this should be on your backpack?” she said. It was my school’s pen drive, containing my latest project. “Oh mom, thanks a bunch!” I replied with a smile. “What would you do without me , hm?” she said, before leaving a kiss on my head. “Have a good day at school son!” she waved, as I went to the bus stop.
Even though he wasn’t at home most of the time, I also had a brother.
He was 19 years old, and like me, was also very busy when speaking of studies.
That is my family. My whole family. My mother divorced with my father when I was 5 years old, and since then, we live together on a rented building. It’s not the best place to live, but at least we are not in the streets.
You might have asked yourself: “Why does a 17 year old teenager still needs his mother to look after him?” Well, I already told you, we’ve got only ourselves, and we would do anything to help each other. Most of the guys at my age would look embarrassed if their mothers did that in front of them. As for me, well, I wouldn’t give a damn.
The bus arrived.
Sigh.
Time to face people.
Arriving at school, I went straight to my classroom. Most of the students where I study spend 15 minutes before the class outside, speaking with each other. I wouldn’t do that.
Don’t worry, even though I like being alone, that doesn’t mean I don’t have friends in real life.
My classroom had in total 40 people. I only speak with only one of them.
…
I know right? At least one is better than nothing.
Oh, did I say that I only speak with him because we both watch My little Pony?
Yup. The only bronies of the entire school. Probably of the entire city.
His name was Tyler.
As usual, there is no one at the classroom. Pretty much understandable, I was always the first to get in anyways.
“SAL!” The sudden loud and annoying voice combined with a light touch on my back made me scream of shock.
It was Tyler of course. The only person on the universe who would do that to me.
I stared into his soul after the surprise attack.
“Tyler, don’t ever do that again. I mean it.”
“C’mon man, you know I’m just teasing you!” he said with a smile, proud of his successful scare-attack.
“Yeah, you’re right.” I simply replied.
After that, we took our close-to-each-other-seat and began discussing about our project. Well, I could say “my” project, because Tyler didn’t do a thing. But I didn’t care.
“So you almost forgot our project because you were having those crazy thoughts about loneliness again?” he asked.
“They are not crazy thoughts Tyler. I like to think about that sometimes, it’s just me. It makes me relax. And besides, my mother remembered about the pen drive.” I replied.
“Your…mother?” He asked.
“Don’t.” I said.
“Alright then, no need to explain yourself. We got the goodie, we are all good!” He replied.
As the time passed, we also discussed about getting earlier on the computer after we got home. We spent hours and hours chatting through the computer almost every day. We also shared images, songs, and of course, we played some games together. This time, Tyler was excited to tell something about a tale he seemed to have found on the internet lately. I wasn’t paying much attention though, since the other guys were getting on the class.
The bell rang.
The class started.
