One morning in Canterlot, Princess Twilight Sparkle and Princess Celestia are seen mid-conversation, Twilight says that she and her friends feel so exciting about life in Equestria, but she believe that's not the reason Celestia asked her here.

Princess Celestia then proceeds to openly wonder what Queen Chrysalis's next intentions will be. Twilight, however, is puzzled as to how Queen Chrysalis could even be around, as she have been defeated by Princess Cadence and Shining Armor. Celestia explains to her that in doing so, Shining Armor and Cadence just use their magic to perform a magic shield that only expelled her and her minions from Canterlot. Not just that, she tell Twilight that Chrysalis will be poised to acquire more power that they can't even begin to imagine.

Twilight assures Princess Celestia that she and her friends will be there to counter Queen Chrysalis should she attack again, but Celestia explains that her friends are not powerful enough like Twilight, who is a true alicorn princess, and furthermore, tells Twilight that one alicorn princess alone will not be enough to face what is not an entire army of changelings.

Before Twilight can question the meaning of this, Princess Celestia orders Twilight to summon her friends to her to undertake an "Elements of Harmony" Exam.

Celestia: Twilight dear, how do you and your friends feel about life in Equestria now?

Twilight: Well, it’s so exciting! But I believe that's not the reason you've asked me here, right?

Celestia: Yes, well...

Twilight: Princess, what… what happened?

Celestia: The key question is: What does Queen Chrysalis intend to do next?

Twilight: Queen Chrysalis? She's the one who posed as Princess Cadence and admitted to feeding off Shining Armor's magic to take over Canterlot. Didn't Princess Cadence and Shining Armor defeated her?

Celestia: Correct, Queen Chrysalis's takeover failed. However, Shining Armor and Cadence just use their magic to perform a magic shield that only expelled the Queen and her minions from Canterlot.

Twilight: Huh?

Celestia: Queen Chrysalis is still alive, and she will be poised to acquire more power that we can't even begin to imagine. I’m afraid that not even Princess Cadence and Shining Armor can't defeat her this time. Her potential outstrips even Princess Luna and me. In short... This means that Queen Chrysalis will return.

Twilight: And you think... You think that maybe she is going to try something drastic?

Celestia: Perhaps. A mare like Chrysalis has is very unpredictable.

Twilight: Well, it doesn't matter what she'll do. My friends and I will be ready.

Celestia: Yes, you all are indeed strong. But not close to a true alicorn princess like you. Tell me, Twilight Sparkle... Would a single one of you suffice if what you faced is an entire army of changelings?

Twilight: What? What do you mean?

Celestia: Twilight, please summon your friends here.

Since Princess Twilight Sparkle learned that Queen Chrysalis return, Princess Celestia puts her friends through an "Elements of Harmony" exam in order for them to become full-fledged alicorn princess and counter the returning threat.

The "Elements of Harmony" exam will test their friendships and their respective elements. Also they could be tested in a way they must each confront their worst fears and flaws about themselves. The first step in overcoming fear is to acknowledge it and to find the source of it.

As their Elements of Harmony" exam, Princess Celestia assigns her friends to travel the World of Sleep and awaken seven worlds which remained submerged in sleep, but that real time in Sleeping Worlds does not flow unless one restores by waking it up from its slumber, thus they will encounter "dreams" created by a Sleeping World in the image of those who have been on it once. However, an unknown mare (Young Chrysalis) appears to hinder their progress.

Episode 1 -

5 mares arrive to "Past" Ponyville, they meet Mare Smith and Applejack's Parents as fillies, they also meet the unknown mare at the first time. At the end they are separated to enter to 5 different worlds.

Pinkie Pie arrives to Canterlot's Past, the time that when Twilight as filly, she become back as a filly. Soon, she meet filly Twilight and battle against filly Trixie without magic, to show why Trixie hates Twilight at the first time.

At the same time, the changelings take Twilight's Parents hostage and summon Twilight and Spike to speak with them. The changelings demands Twilight to hand the "Elements of Harmony" to Queen Chrysalis, but she refuses. As the changelings attack them, Discord arrives and stops them, rescuing Twilight's Parents in the process. The changelings take their leave, while Twilight, Spike and Discord return to Canterlot.

Episode 5 Generosity -

Rarity arrivals to Canterlot's Past, the time that Twilight was still in training , Since a sleeping Twilight covered in dark magic, Rarity and "Past" Spike are retrieve a Magic Idea to defeat the dark magic.

Episode 6 Loyalty -

Rainbow Dash arrives to a similar to Tron world call "ElecTRONY Grid", and she notices her new clothes and wonders whether the world is special. At the end, when the Keyhole of Harmony appears to Rainbow as she contemplates the significance of Portals, she saw the unknown mare really to get to the last sleeping world by the Corridor of Darkness. However, when Rainbow try to stop her, she got in to the Corridor and Rainbow caught after her to the last sleeping world.

Back to Canterlot, Twilight's worried about her friends, since they didn't return from the Sleeping Worlds at the expected time, and decides to go into the Realm of sleep to save them.

As Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Rarity finally arrive to rescue Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, only to be confronted by the changelings, who reveals that until now, They has been traveling within Rainbow and Fluttershy's dreams like a Spirit Dream Eater. The two battle and they prevails, entering The Dark Castle.

Making their way to the castle, joined by Twilight, three friends confront and defeats the young Chrysalis. After the battle, the revived Queen Chrysalis unveils an entire army of changelings composed of herself, her minions, and incarnations of herself throughout time. From there, Chrysalis reveals her plans to control the nine Guardians of Equestria to take over Canterlot again. Queen Chrysalis tries to turn Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, into her last needed minions, but the two are rescued by Discord. After which, when Spike and Trixie got involved, Chrysalis and her minions return to their individual points in time yet will meet again when the time comes.

Soon afterward, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy awake after twilight and the others bring they back to Canterlot. Princess Celestia told them no one of them can become a full-fledged alicorn princess, but she told them that she thinking a idea to stop Queen Chrysalis' new evil plan and order for them to become full-fledged alicorn princess.
