Jewel’s POV:
*FLASH* “Next!”
I stood in line for school pictures. And, just my luck, Lance was right in front of me. Lance, if you’re wondering, is the most handsome guy in high school. Every girl drools over him. I like him, but I would never change myself to impress him.
I obviously don’t have a chance with him.
Lance kind of reminds me of Edward from Twilight, but Lance has a much tanner complexion. And guess what? I’m a pasty pale. Oh, by the way, my name is Jewel.
I hate my name.
It was eventually Lance’s turn for a picture. When the light flashed, you could tell why most girls loved him so much. His golden-brown hair was swooped to one side. His bronze eyes sparkled. His teeth gleamed. While all of the girls behind me sighed, I rolled my eyes. There’s no point in me flattering him because, like I said, I have no chance with him.
“Next!”
The loud voice of the photographer snapped me out of my stupor. As I walked towards the backdrop, Lance’s girlfriend, Cami, runs by crying. I shrug. But as the light of the camera flashes, I ponder why the most popular girl in school would cry. Is she hurt? If so, physically or emotionally? I decide to push it out of my mind for now because…
It’s not my problem.
The rest of the morning goes by in a blur. I don’t pay any attention in my classes because I’m mostly talking to my best friend Halfnote. She talks a lot, but I only give a "Yeah" or "Nope" every once in a while. My mind keeps wandering to Cami.
“Hush you two.”
Ugh. My teacher lets everyone else talk but us. I glared at her. Since she was already looking at the board, Halfnote and I just started writing notes to each other. I mentioned something about Cami, but she had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually, the bell rang. I pretty much ran to the cafeteria. I was STARVING. But, before I got there, a hand reached out of the crowd and pulled me in.
I was being pushed and punched while i was being dragged through the crowd. It led me to the courtyard. Once I saw the owner of the hand, I gasped. It was Lance. And, for some odd reason, we were the only ones there. He led me to a picnic table. He sat me down and handed me a soda, which I numbly took into my hands. Questions raced through my mind. Why did he take me here? What does he want? How do I talk to him? We sat there in an awkward silence for what seemed like hours. I twiddled with my fingers. I began to play with the end of my dress. I took a sip of the soda and sat it down. It was Pepsi. My favorite. How did he know?
“Jewel,” he finally spoke.
“Y-yes?” I stuttered.
“Would you like to know why I brought you here?” His eyes bored into mine.
“Yes. Please?” I begged.
“Well, I bet you know that I broke up with Cami.” He looked down.
So that’s why she was crying! Mystery solved!
“No. Why?” I questioned.
“Well, I’ve been trying to break up with her for a long time. She just finally gave up. Now, I don’t want you to feel like a last resort, okay?” He looked up at me.
Last resort? Wait, is he going to ask me out? Oh no no no. why me?
“Last resort?” I cocked my head to the side.
He took my hand in his. “Jewel, will you go out with me?”
I just stared at him. He started to squirm under my glare. I just didn't understand what was going on. Finally, I spoke. “Why? Why me? What’s so special about me? I’m an outcast. Boring old Jewel. I mess up. I… I…”
“Jewel. Stop it. You’re perfect. All the other girls change themselves for me. You… don’t. So?”
I began to feel woozy. Then, I started to see spots. Was I going to faint? Was I going to vomit? Everything went black. Right before I slipped out of consciousness, I said, “Yes.”
Cami’s POV:
They don't know. Nobody knows. This is GREAT. Nobody has figured out my true identity. Hello. My name is Chrysalis. Queen of the Changelings. This is the PERFECT plan. For a whole year, I have been disguised as a human after being sent to Earth by Celestia during the Royal Wedding. I have figured out how to use my magic to alter dimensions. This human race is full of SO much love. So is the pony race. I have gotten to know many of the gullible people of this world. I am going to bring every single human to Equestria and change them into ponies so Celestia won't get suspicious. First, is when I change them into ponies. I need them to get used to pony bodies so they aren't acting weird in Equestria. I turned into my real form and concentrated all my energy into my horn.
