My Wish For Peace

“Ugh.....same shit, different day... again.” A tall blonde human male said, pushing the snooze button on his blaring alarm clock as he stood up and stretched. Walking downstairs, he checked his answering machine, hearing the same telemarketer message. It always went the same way; ‘Hello Damian we would like to offer you bla, bla, bla.’ They always wanted to offer him a different health care service.
Damian has had the same routine every day; wake up, shower, get dressed and go to work. He had very few hobbies, one of which was playing music. He loved the art of music with all his heart and soul.
Damian had gotten dressed in one of his many standard suits. Picking up his keys, Damian went into his garage, opened his car door, got into the driver’s seat, and checked his pocket.
“Crap, where is my phone?!” Damian exclaimed as he looked around. “I must have left it on my bed stand.” He sighed, getting out of the car and going back to his bedroom, grabbing his phone and rushing back to his car.
Damian made the same drive to his office as always, listening to some Bon Jovi, was singing along with it. Not even caring about the stares he was getting from other drivers. He kept his smile, even though he secretly made the same wish every night, that he could go somewhere more peaceful than earth; somewhere he could truly find happiness.
He knew that was a fool’s dream, and that it would never come true but still, every night he would wish with all his heart for it. He had read in the papers that tonight there was going to be a meteor shower. Damian remembered as a kid that anytime he saw a shooting star he would make a wish.
Damian arrived at his office, parking his car in the usual spot. He walked through the front door, being greeted by his co-workers as he took the stairs up to his office. Upon arrival at his floor, he walked to his cubicle, sitting at his desk as he got to work.
****
The day had ended relatively quickly, for once. Damian smiled as he got back into his car and thought about what he should do for the rest of the day. It was around five in the afternoon, so he still had time to kill.
Damian smiled. He had the perfect idea. He would go home and play one of his favorite video-games: GoldenEye.
Damian made his drive as quickly as possible, seeing that dusk was coming much earlier than normal. He shrugged, thinking it must be daylight savings time or something. He was half-asleep by the time he had finally arrived at home. Pulling into the garage he turned the car off and got out. Stepping into his house and heading upstairs to change into his, as he commonly called them, ‘street clothes’ before he went into his living room.
“Now to play GoldenEye!”
Damian picked up his xbox controller and turned it on, smiling as the iconic Bond Theme started playing. He played GoldenEye for a good few hours before turning his console off.
Not knowing what to do now that he was finished, he stood up. He still had the rest of the day to himself. Normally, Damian would be hanging out with a few of his friends or even at the arcade goofing off but this was the first time he had the whole day to himself like this; the arcade was closed for maintenance and his friends were out of town.
“What to do? Hmm...” Damian looked around his house, trying to find something to entertain himself with. After a good half-hour of searching, he could find nothing.
“Hey, look at the time; it is almost time for that meteor shower!” Damian mused, wondering if he should make the wish again.
“Heh it would just be a waste of time.” Damian shook his head, laughing. “I mean come on; it is not scientifically possible for that to work. If magic was real. Then, well who knows what would happen... it would not be good, that is for sure.”
Damian was being skeptical of course, who would not be? But deep down inside himself, he believed that anything was possible. But of course, he would never say out loud that he believed magic was real; People would think he was crazy.
****
Three hours passed and Damian decided to take the chance to watch the meteor shower. He put a jacket on, seeing as it was relatively cold for March.
He sighed “Well, let’s see; it should start in a few minutes.” Damian said, laughing a little as he looked at the sky, seeing the same constellations he did every night.“Well this thing better start soon or I am going back inside.”
He waited a bit longer and sighed. “Nothing just like I thou-” he was cut off by the sight of a meteor. “Well would you look at that.”
Many meteors went flying across the sky, leaving white streaks that appeared for only seconds. Damian kept looking as hundreds, if not thousands, of meteors went flying through the sky. He could only imagine how many people were making wishes on the meteors hoping for cliché things such as wealth, “Well, it’s worth a shot.” Damian closed his eyes. “I wish I could live somewhere else. Somewhere I actually have a chance at happiness.” he laughed and looked around.
“Should have known it would not work.” Damian said as he went back in his house “Oh well, I guess I should get some sleep.” he said as he went upstairs, lying down on his bed he sighed again, “I guess nothing good ever happens in life.”

The cameras were rolling as a female wearing a dress stood in front of the remains of a house. She smiles at her que, “Tragedy struck in a small neighborhood as of last night. Close to the end of the meteor shower a house ignited before exploding. Authorities said they do not know what caused the explosion but in the police report it said the house belonged to a Damian Nocte. The remains of the house was searched, but no bodies were found. They believe Damian may be dead.” The woman cleared her throat, “His funeral will be held this saturday. This is Rose Noble, signing out.”

“What is it?” asked a voice, coming from something staring at Damian’s unconscious body. He was still breathing, but had second degree burns all over his body.
“Ah’ve never seen anythin’ like it on tha’ farm Twilight.” Said a southern voice. “Do ya think it’s dangerous?”
“I don’t know Applejack.” said the voice known as Twilight “Maybe we should get it to the hospital.”
“Or the vet. It’s not a pony so it has to be an animal.” A tomboyish voice said. “Or get Fluttershy.”
“No Rainbow Dash, I take Spike to the hospital all the time, and he is not a pony.” Twilight said “So I think it’s only fair that we do that for this......thing” Twilight was not sure what to call him.
“Oh yeah, that's real smart egghead, put it in a building with a bunch of sick ponies.” Rainbow Dash said “It could have some disease and infect us, all turning us into flesh-eating zomponies!”
“OK Rainbow Dash, for one; there is no such thing as zomponies, and second, we will be taking it to the hospital, whether you like it or not!” Twilight scolded her friend. “What if its life is in danger? We could save its life.”

"Have you ever seen something like it?"
"What IS it?"
"It looks like a bald monkey."
“Do you think it’s hostile?”
“I don’t know but should we get the restraints just to be safe?”
“I don’t think we will need those”
“Why not?”
“I gave him enough anesthesia to knock out a Manticore.”
When Twilight had brought the unknown creature to the hospital, he was still out cold. Not moving but still breathing, albeit slightly. The doctors had given all the medical care they could to an unknown being, so they just had to wait and hope he would be fine.
They had noticed that Twilight had been spending an awful lot of time in the room with him with over ten notebooks filled with just information on what he looks like. The nurses would bring her something to eat and drink.Twilight had gotten up to use the bathroom, one of the only sounds in the room was the heart rate monitor and the ticking of the clock.
After a few minutes he groaned, he felt like his body was on fire. He kept his eyes closed, still trying to wake up. After a second though his eyes snapped open and he shot up in the hospital bed and started screaming, not noticing the lavender mare walking out of the bathroom.
“AHHH SON OF A! GAH MY BODY IS ON FIRE!” Damian screamed at the top of his lungs causing Twilight to start screaming as well.
“AHH WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING?!” Twilight asked.
Damian turned his head and his eyes grew wide, “YOU’RE A FREAKING TALKING HORSE!” Damian exclaimed. “WHAT’S GOING ON HERE!? WHERE AM I!?” it was clear Damian was in shock.
Twilight took a few deep breaths trying to calm down, her heart was still pumping fast from the adrenaline, “First of all I am a pony! And second, you are in Ponyville General Hospital.” Twilight explained calmly, “I was the one who brought you here.”
Damian meanwhile was holding his head with his hands, shaking his head fiercely. “No this can’t be real. One of two things has happened: either I died and I was sent to hell or I am dreaming.... yeah, dreaming, let’s go with that!” Damian exclaimed, panting.
“You're not in Tartarus and you're not dreaming.” Twilight said, “You're in Equestria and like I said, in Ponyville General Hospital. A few friends and I found you laying on the ground and I have SO many questions!” Twilight exclaimed bouncing around like a filly. “What are you? Who are you? Why do you wear clothes all the time? Are all of your kind furless?” she continues firing off questions one after another. The question about his clothes made him realize he wasn’t wearing a shirt or pants, he quickly checked under the blanket, relieved to see his boxers still on.
“Shut up you stupid horse!” Damian snapped, “So at least do this. Tell me what the hell Equestria is!?”
She gave him a stern look, “I’m a pony not a horse and Equestria is the land you’re in.”
“You look like a horse! and you have a horn sticking out of your head! WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?!” Damian shouted again, “Great, this is just GREAT! I AM NOT DREAMING! THIS IS REAL!”
“I don’t look like a horse! And of course this is real. I have a horn sticking out of my head because I’m a unicorn. My name is Twilight Sparkle.”
Damian shook his head, “Well Twilight Sparkle, tell me where your owner is.” when he looked over at the unicorn she was giving him an unamused glare.
“I do not have an owner.” she told him, suspecting him of being a slaver now.
Damian sighed “Look you are a talking horse...” Damian started, “So if you are a horse where is the person who owns you? Think about it. If you can talk and can hold a full conversation then tell me the name of the human that owns you.” Twilight kept glaring at Damian.
“I already told you I. Do. Not. Have. An. Owner!” Twilight said poking her head out of the room “Doctors! He’s awake! and kind of a plothead!”
“Good, finally I can see another human in this crazy world of ho-” Damian was cut off by the sight of a white pony with a pink mane and tail; he facepalmed. “Great! another horse! Its offical I am in hell, there is no doubt about it now.” He thought as he looked at the pony she was smiling at him.
The pony walked over to Damian. He had not noticed but they had hooked an I.V up to him, “Well hello, my name is Redheart.” She said tapping the bag, “Everything seems to be in order. Now if you can talk I have a few questions for you.”
“No, I have some for you.” Damian said causing Redheart to jump, “Tell me where the other humans are!”
“The bipedal creature seems hostile.” Redheart mumbled, “I am afraid I don’t know what a human is dear.” Redheart said, “Do you have a name?”
“Yes, its Damian.” He said, watching Redheart writing something down, “And I am a human.” he stated while trying to adjust his eye sight, “Now tell me where your owner is.” It was clear he was getting annoyed, “And why are you not scared of me? For all you know I could turn you all into zombies.”
Redheart shook her head, “You’ve been out for days and everypony has seen crazier stuff than a human.” Redheart wrote something on her clipboard, “Now is there somepony you are staying with dear?”
Damian shook his head not sure if he heard her right, “Did you say ‘somepony’?” He asked and Redheart nodded, “Don’t you mean somebody?” Redheart shook her head, “Yup its official.l” he concluded, not noticing the pony known as Redheart leaving the room. When she did he looked at the needle in his arm, thinking about pulling it out and not knowing the substance they were putting into him. For all he knew it could be poison so he pulled the needle out, trying not to scream from the burns on his body.
After he did that, he placed the needle on a nearby table, “I need to get the heck out of here!” Damian thought looking around, “But....if I move it hurts. These burns, what the heck did these horses do to me?! Did they experiment on me?!” looking around again he spotted a door. “This could be my only chance to escape” he moved the blankets covering his body trying not to scream out in pain before placing his feet on the ground. He used the hospital bed as leverage when standing up. His first goal was to get his clothes and get dressed, his second goal was to get out of this crazy place.
He hobbled over to the chair that currently housed his clothes, trying not to scream with each step. He stopped when he got to the chair, taking a breath to prepare himself, and picked his shirt up. He knew this was going to hurt no matter how slowly he put his shirt on. It would still sting to say the least. When putting it on he felt as if a thousands needles were digging into his skin.
***
After trial and error he had finally gotten dressed. The only thing he could not find was his shoes, his socks were intact and sitting on top of his clothes that were, oddly enough, folded. He noticed something under the chair and saw that it was torn. He leaned down to pick up the object, the distraction numbing his pain a bit. When he did, Damian face palmed. Immediately regretting that decision. “Well isn’t this icing on the cake?! Great my shoes are ruined!” He thought to himself. After a second he went to the door seeing the pony known as Redheart he jumped again, silently screaming as the sudden moves sent pain through his body.
“And where do you think you are going?” Redheart asked sternly, trying to push him back to the bed, “We still need to run a few test on you” The mare stated, attempting to sound tough but only having a tone that a mother who is scolding her foal would have.
“Out of my way little horse.” looking down he saw steam coming out of Redheart’s nostrils.
“Don’t call me a horse.” Redheart growled.
“You are clearly a horse.” Damian said, before he could react Redheart charged at him.
***
“What in the name of Celestia is wrong with you?!” Doctor Stable asked, glaring at Redheart “Attacking a patient!? Have you lost your mind?! He could sue us for that! You could be out of a job Redheart!” He scolded the mare in front of him.
“He called me a horse!” Redheart stated “He did it constantly and I just snapped.”
“That is no excuse for attacking a patient!” Doctor Sable sighed, “Just stay away from him until I say otherwise understood?” He asked, receiving a nod from Redheart “Now if you don’t mind I have to see how his medication is coming along. He is something different that is for sure, his genetic structure and anatomy is just strange.”
“Medication for what exactly?” Redheart asked
“Well he will be in a great deal of pain and that little stunt you pulled did not help, so we are having some very powerful painkillers made.” He stated “And with any luck he should be out of here by tonight.”
