Throwing Caution Into The Wind

“Umbreon!” the dark coated Pokémon shouted. While resting during the early morning,

Umbreon was awakened by a trainer that wanted to capture him. He hesitantly got up to fight him.

Sweet! A shiny Umbreon, you are so going into my collection!” exclaimed a thick glasses

trainer. “Go Magneton!” the trainer threw out a pokéball into the air, a red flash of light

flew out of the pokéball and a Magneton floated out of the light. Its trio of eyes were locked in a scowl.

“Bzzzzt!”

“Magneton, use Thunder Wave! Then follow it up with Tackle!”

‘Sheesh, theses humans with yelling their attacks out. It’s like they think we can’t understand them. No matter, it helps me in the end.’

As the trainer ordered, the Magneton began to light up to send a Thunder wave onto Umbreon. Umbreon was too fast. He jumped to the side and his eyes began glowing yellow. He was using Confuse Ray. The trainer couldn’t react fast enough to order the Magneton to move. Magneton eyes were going in circles now.

‘Good, now I need to follow up with Double Team while it’s busy.’

As the trainer was trying to help his Pokémon get out of its confusion using a strange contraption, Umbreon was busy boosting up his evasion higher and higher, making it even harder to hit him than with his current speed. After images of Umbreon started appear around him, making it hard to distinguish which was the real one.

‘Hmph, humans always depend on their technology. No matter, I shall confuse Magneton

once again and then go for a Screech, then follow it up with a Quick Attack. That should do it.’

While the trainer was ordering Magneton to use Lightning Bolt at one of Umbreon’s after images, all of the other Umbreons’ eyes started to glow again for another Confuse Ray. The trainer and Magneton were surrounded in a circle of Confuse Rays spinning close to them. Once again, the pokémon was affected by Confuse Ray. The after images then disappeared into the nothingness as only the true Umbreon was left in his fighting stance.

“UMBREEOONNN” Umbreon used his Screech attack, which raised his voice tenfold and damaged the opponent’s ears. How it had any effect on a Magneton, a creature that lacked apparent ears of any kind, he never knew.

Umbreon saw the trainer covering his ears, his face showing pain from the Screech attack. Magneton was unsteadily floating in place, his eyes still swirling all over the place, oblivious to his impending doom.

‘Hmph, I’m going to end this for everyone’s sakes.’

Celestia and Luna had once again, met at the dining hall table to have their dinner and breakfast, respectively. Luna was, however, in a much better mood than the previous meal with her sister.

“Good morning, Luna, you seem to be in high spirits today,” a loving alicorn sister said.

“Why, yes sister, I am in a good mood today,” the cheerful dark blue alicorn said.

“Would you feel inclined to tell me? I would very much like to know what it is,” Celestia asked.

“It’s a surprise, sister, but I will let you have a bit of a peek. I will soon meet somepony that shares interests with me. A new friend, if you will.”

“Oh. And who might this pony be?” Celestia knew her sister had been known to stay in the castle most of her spare time, so she was curious as to where she could’ve met such a pony.

“I will let you know in the future, sister, as for now… Only I will know of the secrets that I will hold.”

“You were always the one for mystery novels Luna,” her older sister chuckled.

“ Ha, ha, ha. Says the one that has romance stories with her cakes,” Luna said bluntly.

The guards that were standing right next to the door of the dining hall were having a hard time stifling their giggles, often failing. The sound of snickering could be heard echoing the almost-empty hall.

“I-I DON’T DO SUCH A THING,” Celestia had stood up from her cushion with a light blush on her face.

“Yes, you do.”  Her younger sister was bearing a knowing grin. The guards could barely contain themselves. Years of discipline being crumbled upon their very eyes by the antics of their princess.

“I-err…I must get to my meetings for the day!” Celestia stammered as she was rushing out the door. As soon as the door was closed, most of the guards let out a hearty laugh.

‘Oh Celly, you must put your stories away when you leave your desk, or a certain little pony will find them~. I must get that Wishing Teleportation Spell book from the Canterlot Archives now.’

Luna got up from her seat on the royal cushions and headed off to the Canterlot Archives. While she was trotting to the Archives, she began to wonder what kind of pony she would be able to summon with the book’s help.

‘Hopefully the pony will be a Pegasus so we can spend time flying around during the night. I just hope that they will not be afraid of me when I summon them from their home…’

Luna was pondering if she should really do this, as doing this spell would mean she would be teleporting a pony out of their home and most likely scaring them or making them fear her, ruining her only chance of talking to another pony about the wonder of the night.

‘No, if they truly love the night, then they would feel honored to be in my presence to discuss the world of the night.’

As she finished thinking to herself, she arrived to the Archives’ entrance and pulled the doors open with her magic. As it was like when she was there the day before, Flaming Quill was there, ordering some books. He turned his head around as he heard the doors being opened.

“Ah, welcome back, Princess Luna. Were you successfully able to find the book you were looking for from the list that I gave you?” asked the librarian.

“Yes, Flaming Quill. I am in need of the ‘Wishing Teleportation Spell Book’. I believe that it should still be here?”

Flaming Quill knew in a instance of which book the Princess of the Night was referring to.

“My Princess… do you know what will happen if you were to use that book recklessly?” he asked, suddenly putting up a serious face, in contrast to his usually cheery behavior.

Luna was surprised that his face changed so quickly like that. “I was told that the spell book contained the spell required to summon anypony with the same feelings for a certain subject to the user, correct?”

“Correct, except for a certain part that nopony seems to understand. It will summon anything to the user, if they both share the same feelings about the subject.”

“Anything? What are you speaking of, librarian.”

Flaming Quill went off to retrieve the book. Luckily, the book had been checked in already and was still at the sorting table. Flaming Quill levitated the book with his magic, and trotted back to the Princess.

“What the ponies that check this book never seem to understand, is that this book was an unreleased version by Starswirl the Bearded. Ponies never read the first chapter of the book, where it clearly states that if done incorrectly, the spell will summon a being from anywhere on this world, or even from a different world!”

Luna was very surprised now. She had never heard of such a powerful spell before her banishment.

“Will I be able to summon a pony if I were to do this spell correctly?” the interested

Princess asked.

“That’s the thing! The spell has random effects that  might summon the pony that you

wish upon, or it could summon an unknown creature with the same effect of the wish.”

“So there’s a fifty/fifty percent chance of it to work correctly?”

“Pretty much,” the librarian deadpanned.

“Then, I will try this spell book out. If it summons a troublesome creature, I will defeat it and use a spell to send it back where to where it rightfully belongs.”

“Very well, here you go, my Princess.” Flaming Quill placed a stamp onto the card with the date it was retrieved and hoofed the book to the Princess.

“Thank you, Flaming Quill, your warnings have not fallen on deaf ears, I will be sure to take the necessary precautions.”

Luna placed the book in her satchel and trotted off in an even better mood than before, as she now had a way to summon a pony that would, hopefully, befriend her. She closed the doors behind her once again and left the old pony to his work.

“I sure hope you do,” muttered the old Librarian as he went back to his work.

Luna teleported to her bedroom after leaving the Canterlot Archives, as she wanted to start the spell as soon as possible. Luna locked the door to her room and used a silencing spell around her room so there wouldn’t be any needless interruptions.

Luna quickly put the spell book in a pedestal and opened it. She looked for the table of contents to look for the spell. She slowly scanned the chapters that composed the book, looking for the necessary chapter. She stopped on a chapter called “The start of the Wish”. Luna used her magic to skip through the pages to find the instructions.

To start the necessary spell; begin by enveloping your horn with magic. Then, while focusing on the magic of your horn, wish clearly and deeply for what you wish for. Be careful to bear a clean, calm mind before attempting to perform the spell, if you do not, it will backlash and hurt the user.

Luna reread the passage to make sure she knew exactly what she needed to do in order to activate the spell. Luna started to charge her horn, and it glowed in a dark blue aura. She closed her eyes and concentrated on her wish.

‘I want a friend that would be there for me when I need them. I want a friend that has the same feelings for the night sky... I want a friend that won’t run away from me from fear...’

A bright flash that originated from Luna’s horn covered the room with bright light.

“You-you defeated all six of my pokemon! I will be back to capture you, Shiny Umbreon!” the thick glasses trainer said as he ran away. Umbreon stayed in his battle position until the

trainer was out of his sight.

‘…That was a bit harder than I thought. At least I was able to defeat him. Though, he

knows where my den is now. Now I have to find an empty cave again… that’ll be bothersome’

Umbreon started to go back into his den to rest after the troublesome battle. But  he felt like he was being tugged.

‘Hmm?’  Umbreon turned his head to see a black empty hole that started suck the very light around it.

‘What is that!? Doesn’t matter, I have to get out of here quick!’

He was running at full speed to get away, all in a futile effort. He was slowly being pulled into the black hole. Umbreon looked around to see other pokémon staring at him and the hole in awe, but strangely, no other pokémon seemed to be affected by the hole other than him.

‘Ugh! Let’s see if it can still hold me if I use my Quick Attack!’

Umbreon activated his Quick Attack, trying desperately to dash away, but sadly, it was ineffective, and he was still being pulled into the black hole. There was a last thought in Umbreon’s mind before he was pulled into the darkness of the hole.

‘I-if I didn’t battle that trainer, I would have energy to get away…’

"Hmmm....?" Celestia looked up from the scrolls she has been working on at her study-room. The desk she was working on was crowded with bottles of ink and parchment paper, and a small slice of vanilla cream cake laid on a plate next to the scroll she had been writing on.

'What was that? That felt like Lulu's magic. What is she doing to cause that much of her magic to be released like this?' Celestia was not sure if she should stop her work and head to her sister’s room to find out what had happened.

'Ah well, I guess I can take a break and see what shes doing up so late right now.' She levitated her quill back down and got up from sitting down for so long.

Celestia stretched her whole body. Sore from a long time of not moving. "Oh... That feels nice. Okay, let's check on Luna now." Celestia headed out of the doors and let her guards know that she was taking a small break to see her sister. After the guards nodded, she teleported right outside her sister’s room.

She instantly felt the power of the spell as soon as she reappeared from the teleportation out the door to Luna’s room. She quickly activated a counter-spell  to get rid of the spell that her sister had placed on her door and-

"OHNOOHNOOHNOOHNO!" Luna’s frantic cries could be instantly heard as soon as the silence spell was removed.

Celestia looked at the guards that were posted at the door. "Send word for the Captain. Get him here, now." The guards nodded and rushed off to find their captain.

Celestia wasted no time as she busted through the door. What she saw was not what she expected. Her sister was running around like a madmare, but what she saw on the ground caught her attention more so.

There, on her sister’s bedroom floor, laid a black coated creature with what seemed to have bright blue crescent moons placed all over its body. The creature was apparently unconscious, and was covered in wounds, as if it had been hurt recently.

Luna caught sight of Celestia as she was running around her room with her hooves full of towels. She had her eyes brimming with tears. She seemed to be extremely worried for the well-being of the creature.

"Luna...What is this creature?"
