Mewtwo's Perfect World
Chapter 5: Solitude
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Did you just see that, girls?! It came from the mountain!"
Twilight and her friends went outside to begin their quest, only to find an explosion coming from the very large mountain they had recently traveled to, to convince a very large red dragon to awaken from its disturbing slumber and find another place to rest. It seemed like it was back, except this time it was not alone.
"What in tarnation was that?!" Applejack startled.
"I'm not sure, but I have a hunch..." Twilight knew exactly what it was, but didn't want to panic her friends. "Come on girls, lets go check it out!"
Fluttershy made a soft squeal and dived into the closest bushes. Twilight simply rolled her eyes and looked back towards her friends.
"Now, we need to find the supplies from our last trip. Okay first, a checklist for the supplies: CHECK! Now lets look here... we need a map, books, LOTS of books! And also we need -"
As Twilight was about to finish her list of supplies from the checklist, she looked up at her friends to see them all completely ignoring her and focusing their full attention towards the mountain, with their mouths wide open.
"Ummm, what are you all staring at now?"
Rainbow Dash stood in absolute confusion, and then muttered something along the lines of: "The dragon. It's... leaving."
Twilight looked back up towards the mountain to see a very large red object which obviously had to be the dragon flying up behind the mountain and into the distance. This was all very strange. The ponies had never seen a dragon leaving its home by its own free will. Something else was definitely up on that mountain. Something powerful.
Twilight and her friends continued to stare silently at the mountain, waiting for something- or someone else to reveal itself. Then it happened. All of a sudden, a small figure could be seen flying away from the mountain, shooting up into the sky and reaching past the clouds. A blue streak of light followed it, then suddenly disappeared.
Mewtwo.
"What was he doing all the way up on the mountain?" Twilight thought, gazing upwards towards the clouds that had just engulfed Mewtwo. She then gulped, thinking about all the possible things that he could have done to that poor red dragon. Twilight then shook her head, and turned back to her friends.
"Come on girls, we HAVE to get up to that mountain!"
Mewtwo sat on the distant cloud with Derpy, listening and responding to her stories and 'some' knowledge she had about her world known as 'Equestria'. Mewtwo was amazed by how this world was constructed, and protected from danger. Even though there were a few incidents over the years involving an eternal night, chocolate rain, and shape-shifting ponies, the problems still managed to solve themselves. Somehow.
"Your world is... truly a wonder to behold," Mewtwo said, gazing towards the horizon, "but I feel that I do not deserve to live in your world. I... do not feel as though I belong here."
"Well from what you were telling me before, it seems to me that you think that you don't belong anywhere!" Derpy exclaimed. Mewtwo sighed and looked back towards Derpy.
"I do not think you understand. I... am an abomination, in both this world and mine. I have done such terrible things that I can never be proud of. Who would be so willing to accept a creature like me in this world?" Mewtwo asked doubtfully.
"I think YOU will understand me when I say that us ponies are the most accepting and friendly creatures you will ever know! You will be surprised at how far friendship can go in this world Mewtwo, even if you are a little bit different. Whether it be of different skin, different eyes, different noses, different ears, even different creatures! You can always find a place to belong here," Derpy said, smiling.
Mewtwo once again stared at Derpy with such amazement and wonder.
"Why?... Why are you helping me?"
"Because that's what friends do!" Derpy replied instantly.
Mewtwo was lost for words. This pony seemed... familiar. Too familiar.
"You... remind me of someone I once knew... a long time ago..." Mewtwo trailed off and looked back towards the sun. He then closed his eyes and focused his mind back to his past.
He was alone. Alone in the dark. A sudden orange light captivated Mewtwo. The light began to form itself into some sort of figure. The figure of a little girl.
".... Amber..."
"What was that?" Derpy asked curiously. Mewtwo focused his mind back to the present time and shook his head.
"It's nothing," Mewtwo said, causing Derpy to look at him very curiously.
"Okay, whatever you say!" Derpy then let out a small giggle. Mewtwo decided that it was now time to change the subject.
"Why were you all the way out here on this cloud by yourself?" Mewtwo asked. "Why is this cloud separated from the others?"
Derpy gulped and looked nervously towards the ground, "Ahhh. Well um, you see, I was told to move this cloud with a bunch of other pegasus ponies. But I seem to be having a little... difficulty moving this one. It's very big and heavy, and all the other ponies have already finished moving their clouds into position... but hey, don't worry about it! I'm used to it!"
Mewtwo started at the other clouds that seemed to be in 'position'. It was as if they were simply placed there with hands in the sky. This world continued to impress Mewtwo. They were however, quite some distance away from Derpy. He knew that she would definitely not make it in time before nightfall. Mewtwo knew what he had to do. He then closed his eyes, and ever so slowly began to levitate off the cloud.
"Ummm, Mewtwo? What are you doing?"
His eyes suddenly then turned blue. Derpy was very puzzled by what was going on. She suddenly felt the cloud beneath her beginning to shake. Derpy was completely startled by this and flew off the cloud instantly. She then realised that the cloud wasn't preparing to shock her, it was moving! Mewtwo was focusing his mind on the cloud and moving it swiftly across the sky and placing it ever so gently next to the other clouds. Derpy was completely lost for words. She had never seen anything like this before, from anypony!
"I- I- uh- um-"
"Now you have seen the full potential of my powers. Now you see why I must not belong. It is because I am a threat: a danger to you and everything here. This is why I must live far from your world. Because if I am to live among you, you may never live in peace."
Mewtwo then rose up from the clouds and began to levitate above Derpy.
"Thank you. For everything you have done... You are a very unique pony, Derpy. Do not forget or lose your love and tolerance for all creatures. It is with your uniqueness that makes you so special, and who you truly are deep inside..."
With that said, Mewtwo nodded his head in respect, and suddenly flew off into the distance, disappearing from out of sight. Derpy knew he did not want to leave her, but he thought it was for her and everypony's protection that he be left alone in isolation and as far away from them as possible.
Derpy was once again left alone. All by herself. Derpy didn't want to lose her new friend, but if he insisted that it was for everypony's protection that he leave, it was probably for the best. As she flew home, she decided to make a promise to herself. A promise that she would see Mewtwo again. After all, she did not thank him for his generous help with the cloud!
Mewtwo once again felt alone. Even though Derpy was the only creature in this world so far to accept him for who he truly was, he still felt like a threat to her, and to everypony else here for that matter. He wanted to interact with the ponies, and try to co-exist with them. Mewtwo knew now he would never do anything to harm them, but he was afraid he would somehow make another mistake like he did with the dragon. He did not want to drive the ponies away, or disturb their perfect and peaceful lives. He just wanted everyone to be happy.
Mewtwo decided that the mountain he had previously disturbed was the perfect place to call his home for the time being, to live there away from the ponies in peace until he could find his true home. His true calling. Whether it be in this world, his previous world or the next, Mewtwo would not rest until he could finally find a place where he could truly belong.
As Mewtwo drew closer to the mountain, he saw the opening to the cave that the red dragon had once called its home. Mewtwo landed softly in the clearing outside the cave, and once again looked over towards the horizon, as the sun began to finally set.
"For these creatures, life is as it should be. They were born in this world. It is their home. They belong here. I do not..."
Mewtwo sighed, and turned away from the natural wonder and beauty of Equestria, and ventured into the cave to find a place to rest. Suddenly, Mewtwo could feel his body beginning to close in on itself. Everything turned purple. He looked to see himself being trapped inside a very large type of prison. A round purple ball.
"What is this? What is happening?!"
Mewtwo turned to find the source of this strange power. It was her again. The purple one, alongside her five pony associates. Twilight and her friends had found him. Would he ever find peace?
"Okay Mewtwo, stop right there! We want answers!"
