Forgotten Memories
prologue - The letter
Load Full StoryNext ChapterCelestia was staring out into the night sky from the castle balcony.
'I never thought that this was possible. After all this time I have still failed to do my duty. I must protect Luna. She cannot know about this, nobody can,' she thought to herself.
Just then her sister Luna walked in.
"Sister, what are you doing out so late? Rest. I shall guard the night," She said. Celestia turned to her sister, eyes filled with thought. But Luna noticed something else, something that she had not seen within her sister in a long time. Fear.
"Is something wrong sister," Luna asked.
"Nothing important Luna. I just need to rest," Celestia lied. She could not let her sister know at all cost. Nothing was as important as keeping this from her. With that Celestia turned and walked off to her bed room. Luna saw a ball of crumpled paper near where Celestia was standing and picked it up. It was a letter. She unfolded it and read what was in the letter.

Dear Celestia,
You took my my home, my kingdom, and our sister from me. But you forgot to take the only thing that I needed the most. Faith. And with that faith I have broken my banishment and will return home soon. If you plan on stopping me then I hope you are prepared. I'm not the weak little child that you banished all those centuries ago. No, I have gotten stronger. Living off all the hate that burns inside me, living on the very land itself. You have driven me near insane Celestia. But I still have mother and fathers wishes stuck in my mind and it is now my job to carry them out. You were always the favorite in the family, always getting your way. They loved you more then anything and this is how you repay them, forgetting that they ever existed. Sad. But even though they're dead their wishes are not. They're alive as you and me. And Luna. She was the thing that kept me trying harder and harder to make this corrupted world better. Even though i never got to see my own sister, i loved her and wanted the best for her. You never even cared about that. You just cared for yourself.
But I'm willing to put all that behind us just this once, for father and mother, for Luna. I will be coming for you Celestia, and hopefully you will have decided to help or not. Meet me at our special place when the full moon has risen. We will talk then.
Your faithful brother,
Qanto

Luna was curious about this letter. Nothing about it made sense. First of all Celestia was a kind pony and always kept her promises. Second, she didn't have "a faithful brother"...
...or did she?
Now that she thought about it she didn't know a lot about her family, and the more and more the thought about it the more questions came up. She wanted answers.
She decided that she would just ask Celestia in the morning when she woke. Then she would get her answers. And she will not stop nagging her sister about this, but she needed to wait for the right moment to ask her. She didn't look happy when she left and she didn't want to upset her even more. Celestia did run an entire empire which was stressful on its own, but now this. Last time she upset her sister it didn't end well. Anyways she was sleeping now and she will get her answers when Celestia wakes up.

As Celestia was walking to bed she made a quick stop by the guards quarters and arranged for two stallions to guard her room. The guards did as said without question even though they had many.
Celestia then made her way to her room and locked the door behind her. She didn't want anypony to walk in on her. She moved her bed slightly to reveal a lose floor board. She removed the board and took out a strange crystal, paper, and some quills. She grabbed some ink and began writing a letter.
When she finished writing she placed the crystal in the center of the letter and began whisper random words. The crystal began to glow and spin faster and faster. As Celestia stopped speaking it vanished in a burst of light. Since her room was being guarded she decided to take a much needed rest. She was going to need it, for tomorrow she would have to make a choice that would decide the fate of Equestria. But one way or another, she will find him.
