Their Muggy Faces-The prologue
Load Full Story"Ah Told y'all I dun need any help!" She cries, as she bucks the last tree. Tears pouring from her eyes as the apples fall. She looks up to where the mare and stallion had stood before, only to find air. She falls, and stares at the ground, crying.
"Ah don't understand...how ya can just leave me, Mac and AppleBloom like this." She says, as she raises her hoof to her eyes drying them. "We nev'r done anythin to ya...nothin I tell ya...nothin." She says, as she hears the clip-clop of hooves approaching.
"A.J.? what you doing? We still got the other half of the Orchid to buck!" Big Macintosh says, shaking his head a bit. His red coat shimmering a bit, as the sun hits it. The smaller, yellow coated mare looks up at him.
"Ah'm sorry Big Mac...They just decided to show their muggy lil faces again!" She says, as she covers her muzzle with her hooves. Big Mac nuzzles her side, and smiles at her. She looks at him through tear-filled eyes.
"Com'n. Let's get back to work, next time get me, will ya?" He smiles. "Ah wouldn't mind seeing them." He adds before picking a bucket up in his teeth. She does the same and the two walk on.
The day passes and AppleJack was just about to buck her last tree, when something caught her eye.
"My lil Apple." Says a voice from behind her, as her back hooves fall to the ground. She turns and sees nothing. "The AppleJack of my eye." Says a different voice from the right. She turns once more to see nothing.
"Well? Show yer selves! Dun make me stand round here like a fool!" She cries, glaring at the air.
"AppleJack." Says a soft mare's voice, she turns once more to see the light pink coat, and next to her a stallion with a light orange one. Applejack lets out a small huff of annoyance.
"Well? Out with it! Whatcha want with me?" She says, staring at the two horses. Neither say anything, but they take a step closer. AppleJack's eyes scan over to the two, she takes a deep, sharp breath. The pink mare, has an eye gone. Leaving nothing but a staring empty black hole surround with burns. Her mane's fried, and her coat has patches gone, leaving the muscles showing. The Stallion was worse. His left leg was gone, the bone half hanging out and muscles dripping with blood. His coat was mangled with blood, and burn marks. She lets out a loud scream of horror. Big Mac came galloping over, and he saw nothing but his terrified younger sister on the ground, with her hooves covering her muzzle. Her eyes closed tight, and tears streaming from her eyes.
"Com'n A.J...let's get you inside." he says. And with her on his back, he picks up her hat in his teeth and carries her in.
"It was them Mac....Ah swear...Did...Didn't you see them!?" She cries.
"Can't say Ah did, but Ah can't say that Ah would've liked to after how you acted." He shakes his head a bit setting her in her bed. "Now get some rest...AppleBloom don't need to see you like this. Ah'm sure it was nothing but you're mind."
"Y...ya sure Mac?" She says, staring at him as he walks back over to the door.
"Eeyup." He nods, before closing the door and heading back to work.
"Maybe...he's right." AppleJack nods to herself, pulling the blanket over herself. "It was just my mind. Nothin-"
"It's your fault AppleJack....All your fault." Says the voice. Applejack closes her eyes tight, and shakes her head a bit. She yanks the blanket over her head, and forces herself to sleep through the nightmares.
